Pokémon CAPTURED Version [PG-14]

(OOC: From now on, all out of character talking goes withing colons something like this (OOC: blahblah) and you're not allowed to make posts containing OOC-talk only. That's what the OOC thread is for.

And now, we begin... intro poaast~)

Rudy Norman put the last pokéball in place in his belt. He had six of them lined up there, three on each side of his hips. Every one of them was pretty visible but still held fast and wouldn't drop out unless he grabbed it. A special pokéball belt, given to him by his dad on his last birthday, right after he had caught his first pokémon: Psi the Abra. It had spurred the dream he had always had: to become the strongest pokémon trainer... like so many other boys and girls in Hoenn. Rivals were abundant. Not that that had stricken Rudy yet.

Of course, only one of the pokéballs was occupied at the moment. Psi was probably sleeping contently inside it. That little lazy thing... whenever Rudy wanted him to battle, he seemed to be in a peak of tiredness. Luckily, Rudy had figured out that as soon as Psi was hit by an attack, he usually shaped up and did as he was told. Rudy picked up his pokéball and peeked through the transparent half of the ball. Yep, he could see a miniature Psi in a curled up position in there.

"Rudy?" a voice suddenly came from behind.

Rudy spun around and saw a girl come out from the Pokémart which he was standing in front of. He immediately realized who she was.

"June?" he said and wrinkled his nose. "Why are you here?"

June stopped in her tracks as she was walking up to him, and put her hands on her hips.

"You don't need to sound so mean," she said a bit angrily. "I'm buying pokéballs and some other things. What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be in school?"

"Oh, you didn't hear?" Rudy said and grinned way to wide to be humble. "I'm going to Petalburg to beat the gym leader there."

"What? But isn't he your father?"

"Hm, now that you mention it..." Rudy said and pretended to be pondering the thought. "That's true! He is. And I'm gonna beat him!"

June rolled her eyes. "You don't actually think you stand a chance, do you? You only have, like, one pokémon and you've probably never beaten a gym before. Your father was a gym leader even before you moved here to be with him. And us people in Hoenn, we know he'd never get beaten by an amateur kid."

Rudy suddenly stomped the ground. "I'm no amateur! I'm a trainer!" then something did seem to strike him after all. "Uh... what are you doing in Oldale anyway? Isn't there a store much closer in Littleroot?"

June blinked at him. "See, I'm going on a journey me too," she explained, not just a little proudly, "and I'm going way further than just Petalburg. I've been to other parts of Hoenn before and I know places worth going to. Because, I'm going to catch all pokémon there is."

She said it like if she was stating a fact. Simply and calm. Rudy stood quiet for a second, then snorted and laughed at her. "You? Do you even have a pokémon?"

"Actually, I have two."

Rudy's eyes grew wider.

"You want to see them?" June continued, looking gentle and excited at the same time.

"Nuh-uh," Rudy said, turning away. "I don't care if you've got two pokémon. I'll... I'll catch another one too."

June seemed to get upset by Rudy's impolite ways. "Fine. But I bet you don't even know how to catch one. Good luck at the gym, you'll need it."

And with that, she stormed off. Rudy felt a tiny sting of guilt in his stomach when he saw her angry walk... but he quickly shrugged it off. She was silly. And there was no way she'd manage better than him. Besides... he did know how to catch a pokémon.

He grinned again and pulled out Psi's pokéball. He knocked the top with his knuckle. "Come out, lazyboy," he said. "We're going to catch a friend."

He started to walk out on route 103 and pushed the button on the ball to send Psi out.

Psi felt the sun shining on him. It was warm, and it was the perfect temperature for just lying down and... And sleeping. But it seemed like he wasn't going to, as he looked at his trainer, walking ahead into route 103. Psi looked longingly at a pile of leaves which would serve as his mattress, then back at his trainer. Mattress, trainer. Psi sighed and trudged behind Rudy, who was now already far ahead.

They had been walking on route 103 for quite some time now. The sun made Psi feel real sleepy. He was getting cranky. His pokedex entry said he needed at least 8 hours of sleep. Well, he needed 12 now. All afternoon, they tried different schemes to lure in some pokemon, but usually the best they would get was a rustle in the bushes. When they went in to check on the bush, it was either or empty, or it was a wurmple, which Rudy would shake his head at, saying no.

Finally, they decided to get some rest. "Abra! Ab ab ra!" agreed Psi. Rudy sat down under a tree, and within a moment, he was sound asleep. Abra grinned and sat down next to his snoring trainer. As he sat down, he heard a SQUELCH! coming from underneath him. But Psi didn't really care. He was going to sleep now, and anyone who disagreed would be sorry. His brain started shutting down communication with the outside world, and Psi fell asleep.

Psi woke up to an excruciating pain: An orange bug was biting him! Psi narrowed his already narrow eyes on the bug. How dare it wake him up in his sleep. The bug was pointing angrily at something under Psi's rear end. Psi looked down at it, and saw the source of the SQUELCH! he had heard previously. The trapinch, as Psi recognized, was angrily pointing at the pile of squished oran berries, which if Psi heard correctly, the trapinch had collected all morning and afternoon. But Psi didn't care. This bug was about to be squashed. Waking him up was a serious offense.

Psi wasted no time in reacting. He quickly teleported to behind the orange bug, and put his own hands together. He then slowly parted them, to reveal a small ball of energy. The ball grew bigger, and suddenly, a golden ray, infused with pink and purples shot out from the ball, nailing the trapinch square on the back. Trapinch rolled forward from the force of the psybeam, and then halted to a stop. He growled and opened his large mouth, and grains of sand flew out. Psi closed his eyes, but it was too late. Sand flew around him everywhere- in his mouth, his eyes... Psi stumbled backwards... And started laughing. The sand had gotten through to his ticklish spots. He started laughing as hard as ever, trying to fire psybeams at trapinch, but instead missing and hitting trees. Psi was barely able to see due to the sand, and even worse, he was tickled, so all of his battling instincts were shut off. Psi decided to calm down. First step was to stop spazzing out. Now that he thought about it, he wasn't tickled that bad. Next step was to-- Ooompff! The trapinch ran right in to him, and bit him, hard. Excruciating pain, again, filled him. It cleared out Psi's mind, and filled him with a new found rage. A sharp, commanding voice in his mind ordered him to fire psybeams. And that's what Psi did. Psybeam after Psybeam was fired at the trapinch. Trapinch dodged most of them, but occasionally a strong one would hit him. Not to say that Trapinch didn't do his fair share of attacks. Trapinch would run around and bite him, and it did do a fair amount of damage.

Finally, Psi focused hard on the trapinch, and suddenly teleported behind him. A well aimed Psybeam hit trapinch, and he flew head first at a tree. It made such a loud noise that Rudy woke up, his hands instinctively flying to his pokeballs.

Abra took a deep breath, and went back to sleep.

Rudy awoke from a loud banging noise. He startled and instinctively let his hand grab Psi's pokéball as he got up from where he had been sitting.

In front of him, he saw an orange pokémon laying on the ground next to another tree. It looked like it was knocked out. Beside him, Psi simply lay down again, to seemingly go back to sleep.

"What the hell did I miss?" Rudy asked confusedly. "I can't believe I fell asleep in the middle of the day."

His still half-sleeping brain caught up with his surroundings and he realized that Psi must have been fighting this pokémon. Which meant...

"... I can catch that! Psi, you're a genious! Thanks."

And with that, he grabbed another pokéball. An empty one. He thought about how to do this. When he had caught the Abra, it had gone into the pokéball rather easily when he had thrown it at it. And this pokémon, whatever it was, was knocked out. It should work.

Rudy stepped a little closer, aimed and threw the pokéball. It bounced on the Trapinch's s head and enveloped the pokémon in a red light while sucking it into the small ball. After a few moments, a clicking noise was heard, and the pokéball landed on the ground in front of Psi's feet. Rudy's face shone up and his excitement reached extreme levels. His hair was almost bristling.

"Yyyyyyyyyyyes!!!! We did it!" He picked up the pokéball and peeked in on the pokémon. He'd better get it to a pokémon center and heal it up.

So back to Oldale they went. Rudy let his pokémon be healed at the pokémon center while he went to buy some potions at a store. As a trainer, he'd have to be ready if his pokémon got hurt further from the town.

When he came back to the pokémon center he walked up to the counter and got his two pokéballs back from the nurse. She had told him it was a Trapinch. Rudy reminded himself to somehow study pokémon species; he might need the knowledge of types and names at least.

Deciding he wanted to get to Petalburg as fast as he could, he planned to sleep outdoors instead of using the pokémon trainer license he'd gotten from his father to get a free room for the night at the pokémon center.

In the lazy afternoon sunlight, he walked out on route 102 and let his two pokémon out, excited to see what the new Trapinch would be like.

>.< Sorry; I'd been checking the thread without logging in. Let's see how I can bend this.

[IC]
This was pretty far from home. The young Trapinch had spent several days in the forest, by this point. He had originally planned to stay in a town near Route 111 for some time, before continuing away from the desert. He encountered much more resistance than anticipated, however, as it seemed there was a high demand for ground Pokemon in the town. From what he caught of the human speech, many people were trying to beat some electric types. While at first he was eager to accept any challenges, he became quickly worn out. Luckily, he was talented enough at running from things that he managed to escape, even after fighting two of a child's Pokemon.

He ran west, but had to cut south immediately, due to another town, which he reasoned, would likely have the same stress-inducing environment. While running through trees, away from the shouts of children, he thought "How nice it will be, when I can move through earth or air at will!"

After some time, he realized that the children had become over-excited, and got themselves lost in the woods. Well, not entirely by themselves, he realized, with no small amount of satisfaction. When he noticed his glee, and malice, it gave him pause. After a moment of processing, a sort of disgust welled up in him. He spread this vileness onto the children, as well.

When he reached some small mountains, it became clear that the children had given up. Even if they hadn't, infantile bipeds wouldn't be able to follow him here. He finally took the time to notice the landscape, and realized how foreign it was to him. There were far more plants here. Indeed, it seemed that for all the sand in his home, there was plant-life here. Even on the mountains - which were smaller than 111's - the only familiarity for him was rock.

He felt no homesickness, though; despite being out of his element. After some time, he found a sort of mountain bush, with a meager supply of berries.

He continued to head south, becoming more interested in the trees as he went. There were quite a few of them, as it turned out. And of all different sorts. Leaves of different shapes and sizes, some not having leaves at all, but needles, of slightly less variation. After moving through many, many trees, he realized he was no longer in the hills, but a small clearing, bordering a river. A river.... No, he decided he still did not care for water, despite his new fondness for plants. He had to have some Trapinch-ness, after all.

Here he found berries in great numbers. After taste-testing, he got thought it a novel idea to build up a lot of them, sating his hunger all at once. After a couple of hours, he felt satisfied with the amount of feast he had built up. He then realized how much he needed to relieve himself. It never even occurred to him to go near his food, so he walked off a ways.

When he came back, he was greeted with a most unpleasant sight. An Abra and a child, both sleeping. When he looked at the Abra, he realized it was right where he'd left his berries. Had it eaten them? Then he saw that the ground and its yellow rump were both soaked in juices. Pride and (actually, quite mild) hunger drove him to anger. Only one thing to be done about this, isn't there?

He let the Abra know he was upset. After he'd been biting it for a moment, the Abra seemed to notice. When it moved, he let go, and pointed where it had been sitting in sleep. The Abra followed his indication, observing the desecration beneath it. Apparently, the Abra felt it didn't warrant a bite.

It immediately disappeared, which was followed closely by a great force blasting the Trapinch in the back. He rolled, stopped himself, then scooped up some... dirt... had to get used to it being so hard to grab. He promptly spit it in the Abra's eyes. It fell over backwards and started giggling.

Giggling and firing off waves of psychic energy. The Trapinch quickly reached the conclusion that the fox was quite mad, and likely dangerous, due to this. He decided it was time to bite the Abra in earnest. Upon success, the psychic calmed itself, seeming to focus more on its attacks.

Trapinch and Abra engaged in battle for some time. From what the Trapinch could see and feel of the blasts, most of them were quite weak, while some carved holes in the ground behind him. Luckily, most he got hit with weren't that strong. After some time, though, the Abra did it's first trick. When the walking mouth went in for the attack, the psychic disappeared.

The Trapinch's last semi-lucid thought was cursing its bloodlust.

[OOC]
That took a while to word, what with the lack of name.

On the ground in front of Rudy, two pokémon materialized. Psi was his usual self, but the other pokémon Rudy didn't know anything about. He had know idea of the journey it had made and the obstacles it had overcome only to be beaten by a luckily strong Psywave from an Abra and be caught by a small teenager. If he'd known, he probably wouldn't approach it as he now did.

"Whoa, you're sure ugly. Bet you can eat a lot with that mouth, can't ya?"

His eyes glowed eagerly and even though he had referred to the pokémon as 'ugly', he was clearly content and captivated by its looks. Very different from any pokémon he had seen in Johto. And he had seen a few. He really needed to look up more about what pokémon were living in Hoenn. Clearly there were totally different species than in his home region. But then, he had never been the guy to read up on things beforehand.

"You so need a nickname, like Psi has. I wonder what to call you. Might be easier if I knew what you could do, hmm."

Warm; this place was warm. Must be day outside. The desert is only this comfortable in daylight. It was warm and comfortable, and it felt as all his bodily troubles were resolving themselves. Healing, was the word for it. It compelled further sleep, and this Trapinch was not going to ignore that.

He had a dream of being chased by human children. He could've sworn one of them said he was ugly....

He awoke with a start, instantly remembering the last few days. Looking around, he first noticed the Abra, which he thought... yes, it had knocked him out.

"Bet you can eat a lot with that mouth, can't ya?"

The Trapinch turned quickly, to see the human that had been sleeping near the Abra. It was a child, with a pretty satisfied look on it's face. The child seemed to feel it had accomplished something of note, so the Trapinch assumed it was the Abra's partner. After the time it took for Trapinch to process this, the human spoke.

"You so need a nickname, like Psi has. I wonder what to call you. Might be easier if I knew what you could do, hmm."

Psi? He looked at the Abra, it's expression unintelligible. Ignoring the child, he spoke in his dialect of PokeSpeech.

[OOC]
There; now I have a word for it. :)

[IC]
"I'd say a strategy based on chance is risky, but you can really funnel those things out. The only psychics in the desert were Baltoy, and my bites seemed to work pretty well there."

Suddenly his mind flew several miles, back to the sun, sand, and rock of his home. He caught himself when he remembered there was a reader right next to him: a psychic who's expression he still couldn't read.

Psi stared at the Trapinch long and hard, having heard and understood what the pokemon had said, PokeSpeech was a universal language for pokemon. Psi staredd for another moment or two, and the trapinch stared back with its large eyes which seemed to be full of diamonds. Psi shook his head and turned away, deciding sleep was better instead of arguing with this big-mouthed cretin. But before he lay down to sleep beside his trainer, he grinned back slyly. "You need to guard your back more.".

Psi then yawned, and looked at the pile of leaves he had arranged next to Rudy. He had carefully sifted through it before he had decided to sleep on it; he wasn't chancing that trapinch biting him again for sitting on a pile of oran berries. Psi stared again, than decided against it. For once he wasn't sleepy. He was more interested in his new companion. He looked at Rudy, who was fiddling around with a device on his wrist. He seemed pretty absorbed with it. Psi shrugged. He turned to trapinch. "Fancy a battle? These limbs need to get stretched. And I suppose it would help us both. Rudy's going to be impressed with our new techniques, and it would definitely help when we start battling other pokemon. So what do you say?"

[ooc]: So now, me and MMGiru sort of have a battle again while Rudy fiddles around with the device on his wrist.

(OOC: Rudy's gonna think you two are fighting if you suddenly start battling xD Maybe we should limit your bunnying of him to a minimum ^^ He is, after all, my character~)

IC:
Rudy was scratching his head, hearing the two pokémon make sounds at each other. He hoped they would get along.

"So, welcome to the team!" he said, trying again to get the Trapinch's attention. "I'm Rudy, by the way. What attacks can you do? Can you bite something with that mouth? I wonder what type of pokémon you are..."

As Rudy was twisting his mind around this, unaware of that Psi was planning to battle the new team member, a rustling noise was heard in the bushes at the side of the road.

Rudy startled. "Psi, did you hear that? What was it? Maybe another pokémon! Oh, we can grow our team even more!"

And without thinking or looking to see if his pokémon followed him, he took off and dashed head first into the bushes. Only to find that after a few meters, a wide pond met him. Rudy could do many things, but he couldn't walk on water. Suddenly, his feet didn't have ground under them anymore, and he fell with a noisy splash into the pond.

"Won't be needing this one anymore." The boy sends out his Aron, snapping the Pokeball at the hinge. "Go on, get." He turns around and walks off, talking to himself. "My new one is stronger and has a better personality. Who needs the other one?"

Aron looks around in confusion. This not home. Not many rocks, no metals. What tall green things? Stupid human! Not me Aron's home!

--------

Aron wakes up with a start. Looking around, he sees more of the same. This route has become familiar since he was released. It's been only a day, but Aron is eager to move on.

He walks away from the bush he slept in, looking for some food. He notices that the area is different somehow. Where holes come from? Me Aron not remember trees being hurt earlier.

As Aron walks around a tree, he sees a human boy and two Pokemon up ahead. Hm? Stupid human! Look different, but him still have Pokemon! Me Aron show him who useless! It him.

Aron roars threateningly, and charges forward at full speed!

--------

Rudy can hear a low squeak, and sees a small metal quadraped slowly and awkwardly rushing towards him.

Psi heard the 'roar' before any of them. His trainer was now in the water, frantically doggy paddling out, and Psi was very interested in the source of this roar.

It was apparently moving with a purpose, as it had a big iron head and it was lowering it towards them, which, to Psi, meant a sign of battle.

"Geez, I never get it easy." Psi thought. He revved up a psywave in his arms, than decided better. Psi put his hands together, and vanished behind the pokemon which he recognized as an aron. He was quite sure that Rudy would be interested in this pokemon. Well, so was he. He would clearly make a good addition to the team. Good addition to the team means that that pokemon is strong. Strong pokemon have potential to blow a big hole in their team. Psi was there for backup.

But of course. Life does get boring sometimes. And when you're bored, you sleep. And that's exactly what Psi did.

Rudy stumbled out of the water, soaking wet from his belly and down, and not the least happy anymore. But then he heard the roar and saw the strange pokémon charging them.

"Whoa... another new pokémon!" and all gloomy thoughts and bitterness about being soaked disappeared.

He noticed the smart Psi already preparing his famous Psywave... but then he disappeared instead. He reappeared somewhere behind the Aron, as if to get out of harms way, and leaned back. It was clearly his way of telling Rudy it was his turn to do something useful now.

Everything that now followed happened withing a second.

Aron was upon him and would hit him if he didn't do something right now. His eyes caught sight of the Trapinch beside him. It had apparently followed Psi after their trainer. Right! But what could it do? Well, one thing most pokémon could do, unless they were too clumsy or slow.

"Trapinch! Dodge!"

And he took a leap to the side to avoid the miniature juggernaut himself and hoped that his new pokémon would be loyal or smart enough to do the same. Unless it had some other move up its sleeve...

And that was when he realized he did have a way of knowing more about unknown pokémon. The pokédex he had gotten from June's father, professor Birch. He was a good friend of Rudy's father and had given Rudy the advanced pokédex on Caleb Norman's pledge. It currently was on the bottom of Rudy's bag, which he had dropped at the pond's edge before falling in, luckily. Pretty close to where Psi was sleeping...

Psi woke up to hear the clashing of two pokemon fiercely fighting. "Again?!! Why do they need to wake me-- Oh." Psi saw that Trapinch was wrestling aron, and everything came back to him.

Psi saw Rudy's eyes beeline towards something. Psi followed the line of the stare and found his eyes falling on a bag. Rudy wanted that. It apparently had something of use in there.

Psi quickly hooked his arms on the bag. He closed his eyes, and disappeared, re-appearing in front of Rudy. He tossed it to Rudy, and then walked head-first into battle. He looked at trapinch, and saw that there was no space for him to battle. Psi shrugged.

Psi was feeling thirsty, and there was a pond. However, Psi was unsure whether to take a drink from it, now that his trainer had fallen into it. Psi decided to take a drink, as thirst overcame him, but he would take a drink far from where Rudy had taken a dip.

(ooc: Ok, me is going to meet buzz!)

(OOC: Please don't bunny MMGiru's character. You got permission to do that when you battled to catch him, but did you get permission to do that now?)

Psi somehow understood what Rudy was thinking. Seriously, Rudy believed that pokémon could read his mind sometimes. He was annoyingly lazy and sometimes annoyingly prankish, but when it came down to it, they had a real connection.

"Thanks, mate!" Rudy cheered as he caught the bag. He quickly rummaged through it and hoped that Trapinch had managed to avoid the fierce charge from the metal ball creature but didn't give himself time to look. His fingers felt the pokédex and pulled it up. It opened up and immediately beeped. It seemed to be searching for a pokémon to identify... oh, Rudy had accidentally already pushed the "Identify" button. It found one.

"Aron," the pokédex voice said. "It has a body of steel. With one all-out charge, this POKéMON can demolish even a heavy dump truck. The destroyed dump truck then becomes a handy meal for the POKéMON. "

"Whoa, good thing I dodged!" Rudy said. But the pokédex beeped again.

"Trapinch. It's big jaws crunch through boulders. Because its head is so big, it has a hard time getting back upright if it tips over onto its back. "

"Crunch through boulders?" Rudy said and looked up to see what Trapinch was doing. It was a ground type pokémon... and the pokédex also said it was living in the desert... The new pokémon who had stormed them was looking quite alike a boulder. Only made of steel instead of rock. Worth a shot?

(OOC: Ok, 649 and Nimble can handle their encounter ^^ I'll wait until Godzil or MMGiru posts in our situation before taking more action.)

[OOC]
Yo, I'm back and... wow.... That's quite a bit of development. Oh, but steel-rock vs. ground? :3

[IC]
"Fancy a battle?"

The Trapinch fancied the idea very much.

"These limbs need to get stretched. And I suppose it would help us both. Rudy's going to be impressed with our new techniques, and it would definitely help when we start battling other pokemon. So what do you say?"

Before the Trapinch could agree, the child - Rudy, was it? - spoke.

"So, welcome to the team!" he said, trying again to get the Trapinch's attention. "I'm Rudy, by the way. What attacks can you do? Can you bite something with that mouth? I wonder what type of pokémon you are..."

Just because you slept through the battle. Trapinch thought.

Next the boy seemed to Trapinch to nearly jump with excitement, in response to a rustling bush. "Psi, did you hear that? What was it? Maybe another pokémon! Oh, we can grow our team even more!"

He ran off, allowing Trapinch to ignore him, and get back to business. Rematch business. He turned back to the psychic, ready to sate his needs for both challenge, and vengeance. But oh, there were so many interruptions.

A roar cut through the air. Something very deep in his brain said to be afraid of the roar, but his reason and pride ordered otherwise. He turned, to see a small, running piece of iron and rock. Oh, a pokemon, of course! Ridiculous, the idea of a running rock that wasn't a pokemon.

While turning to tell his joke to the Abra, he heard the sound of its attack preparing. It was aimed at the little incomer. But, the psychic seemed to decide it had better things to do. It disappeared, which the Trapinch took to mean it was behind it's opponent. It was, and... wait... just a minute now.... That fox did not take long to fall asleep. The steel-rock thundered onwards.

"Trapinch! Dodge!" As if he wouldn't! The human had apparently got out of the water while Trapinch's joke was distracting him, only to now throw itself on the ground now.

The Trapinch did a barrel roll, just before the infantile tank caused some substantial damage. While doing so, he used a technique he had wanted to try before. With his feet spinning around his torso, he pulled sand into the air the enemy's eyes were about to occupy.

[OOC]
I'll leave it here, so Godzil can do it up with Scrapper's response to sand attack.

A Surskit skated out from its den, apparently annoyed by the racket outside. The Surskit skated quickly around the pond, looking for the source. Then he saw a commotion. An orange bug thing and a metal hunk of rock were attacking each other. Ugh, just another battle. When would he ever have an uneventful day? This Route was crazy. He turned around to skate back home, when he saw a fox thing drinking from his pond. His pond. The terrestrial Surskit sped forward and made a quick attack. This was his water! None shall taint it!

(OOC: Nimblethumbs can now post our battle. Do a good job!)

(OOC: Done a good Job!)

Water rushed down Psi's throat. A feeling of relaxation surrounded him as the cool liquid made its way through Psi's body. It cleared any blockages to his brain. His mind felt completely clear, and he felt his psychic senses swirling inside him. So relaxing… It was equivalent to sleeping. Psi made a mental note to drink water more often.

Psi stood there for another moment, enjoying the sharpening of his senses… And then it was gone. It was gone, replaced by pain. Psi twitched and fell to the ground, muttering under his breath. He opened his eyes and looked around for what made him feel this pain. There was nothing at his eye level. He looked above, expecting to see a fierce Pokémon rearing back for another dive bomb. There was nothing in the sky, except for the clouds. Psi looked to the ground. He saw something. He saw a small blue creature with a yellow antenna protruding from its head, which seemed to also serve as his body. Four, small, spindly legs extended from the body/head. It had large eyes with pink semi-circle highlights under the eyes. He knew this Pokémon was a surskit. From the antenna, a small drop of thick syrup fell onto the ground. Psi knew what that meant. Surskit had sensed danger. That danger was him. This creature was about to pay.

The creature was looking at Psi with a killer's eye. It chattered angrily. From what Psi understood, he had been 'polluting' his pond. Psi couldn't care less for what a Pokémon the size of his hand said. What he really was interested in was how surskit was able to damage him that much. But it didn't matter anymore. Psi was going to hurt this creature much more.

A golden ball of energy appeared in Psi's right hand. Streaks the colors of the rainbow spun around the sphere of energy. Psi grinned, and then launched his Psywave at the Surskit. The surskit waited until the last possible moment, when Psi was sure that the creature was going to get fried, and then suddenly leapt into the air with stunning balance and acrobatic ability. Thin oil shot from its legs, and the surskit coated its legs with this oil. Then, with astounding speed, surskit jumped across Psi's leg and onto the pond. Instead of sinking, surskit skated around with its thin legs, never even bobbing once. Psi growled, and conjured a psywave in his hands.

Surskit was clearly enjoying itself, skating around the pond, dodging the frantic psywaves thrown by Psi. Then surskit decided to retaliate. Surskit's antenna started glowing blue, and bubbles shot from the tip. They floated towards Psi. Psi took one look, and ignored them, focusing on powering his psywave. This proved to be a mistake, which he soon found out, as when the bubbles hit him, they would pop, and they would fizz powerfully on his skin, and that really hurt.
Psi growled angrily. He was getting nowhere with this pond skater. If he wanted to get him, he needed to be closer. To be closer meant to be in the water. To be in the water meant to get wet. Psi didn't want that to happen. But then Psi thought about the previous experience with drinking water. Psi suddenly rubbed his hands together. He had an idea.

Psi waded into the water, and half-walked and half-swam towards surskit. Surskit watched him, his antennae still glowing. Psi continued to walk forward, and surskit decided that now would be a good time to fire. More bubbles flew from the antennae, but this time, Psi didn't underestimate the attack this time. He quickly ducked, and submerged his head, gulping in water.

Surskit was furious. The fox was contaminating his water again! He jumped onto a nearby lily pad, and waited for the Abra to appear again. The fox was a land dweller. It would be a matter of seconds before he came up again.

Psi gulped huge amounts of water. A first nothing happened; Psi wasn't thirsty. But the dryness that appears in your throat when you are underwater came for Psi. Psi took another gulp and his head cleared. He let his psychic instincts take over, and his mind formed a battle plan. He put his hands together, and teleported.
Psi reappeared behind surskit, seeing that the Pokémon was looking carefully at the spot where he disappeared. Psi grinned, then put his hands together again, slowly bringing them apart. A psywave appeared. Psi built it bigger and bigger, and BANG! He unleashed a psywave. It hit surskit square on the back, and sent the pond skater Pokémon tumbling forward, falling face first in the water. Surskit's legs moved in a hurried frenzy, trying to get a grip on the water. It finally did manage to upright itself, but Psi had already teleported and charged up another psywave, which hit surskit, repeating the process. Psi continued this, and pretty soon, he had knocked surskit out with a well placed Psywave. The fainted pokemon fell onto the land.

Psi crawled back to land, sopping wet, and went to sleep, shivering and shuddering.

(OOC: The syrup and oil thing was from bulbapedia.)

Aron runs forward, rushing past an Abra which wisely teleports to safety. A Trapinch rolls out of his way, leaving the boy all to him. Now boy pay! Me Aron get veng- Sand strikes him in the eyes, and he staggers off course. He rushes straight into the water, oblivious to his surroundings.

Aron crawls back out, rubbing his face on his leg. "Why sand hit my eyes?" He sees Trapinch facing him, the sand around his feet disturbed. "Orange bug pay for hitting me Aron with sand! Me Aron crush puny bug!" Aron lowers his head, charging at Desert.

((Back to MMGiru.))

As it turned out, the time it took for something made out of steel and rock to get out of water was enough to formulate a next move. The fact that the Aron hadn't noticed something so offensive to its type as a pond, gave Trapinch an idea. It was actually quite a simple one. Modify the last technique, then repeat.

After formulating his strategy, he had just enough time to position a tree behind him and psych up. When the thing came charging, he would use his new spinning sand trick, then bite while it was distracted by the sudden appearance of wood.

[OOC]
Godzil; if that's successful, it'd be pretty awesome of you to write that action out for Desert.

(OOC: Aron's cave-man-ness is awesome xD )

Rudy watched Trapinch fling sand towards Aron in an effective manner. The Aron fell into the pond and spent too many seconds climbing out of it. Trapinch seemed to already have thought up a plan.

"Sand... of course. Trapinch normally lives in a desert, the pokédex says," Rudy mumbled. "Hey!" He shouted a bit louder. "I know what to nickname you know! You are from now on... Desert!"

Rudy didn't exactly know what other trick Desert had up his sleeve, but he almost wanted to jump out and distract Aron and order Desert to use Bite on it from behind. He wouldn't hesitate if it was Psi, but would Desert listen to him? Maybe he should just watch what his new team mate planned to do.

Aron charges at Desert, who foolishly stands still. He lowers his head and picks up speed, when the bug suddenly spins, hurling sand into Aron's eyes. Aron roars in fury and pain, then stops as he hits an immovable object. A loud crack is heard, and an Aron-sized hole has appeared in the tree trunk. Long splits radiate outward, the weakened tree suddenly groaning under it's own weight. "Oops."

Suddenly, Aron feels something! He looks over his shoulder to see Desert's massive jaws clamped around his leg. He screams in rage. "Rawr! Stupid bug! Get off!" He Hardens his skin, shaking his leg frantically.
