Curious what you folks think about this subject. Alluded to it in another thread and thought this would make for good discussion.

Do you think it would be a nice change of pace to the game if, every few days or so, you were summoned to return to the Pokémon League to face a new challenger in the role of Champion? These challengers could become increasingly more difficult, and of course you don't know specifically who is challenging so you don't get an advantage straightaway in types, so this could bring a nice post-E4 challenge.

Of course, it could be possible to choose whether you want to do this or not; if not, you carry on as in any post-E4, but if so, you just get a message in your mail indicating a new challenger is arriving. For simplicity, it can be assumed that the entire main E4 is beaten by every challenger you face, and whoever defeats you becomes the new Champion. If you do not show up for the challenge within the hour or two (it could be day since some only play once a day), you immediately forfeit the role of Champion and must rechallenge to reclaim the role (of course, the E4 is tougher, too). Any such challenge would be made when you turn on the game for the day, and it should automatically save after that to start the timer.

What does everyone think about this idea in the game?

That's too much of a complicated code unless they had specific trainers made to do that even still full recognition of that person as a champion is more coding that will serve little to no purpose. Its not something we'd ever see in the Pokemon games until maybe the games go online and all the trainers are actual people. Which is highly unlikely as well.

Hey Cyclone, unfortunately this question doesn't have anything that relates it directly to B/W, and could apply to any game, so I'm throwing it over to Pokemon Gaming Central. n_n

On the side note, I think it would be pretty fun. I think it'd have to be longer than just a day, though, maybe a month, or something, since many people play games a lot less after beating the E4. :(

I agree we'll never see it, I'm just asking what everyone thinks of something like that. :)

Yes, it'd be a pretty good change of pace for me to go around the region and offer advice to new trainers as I go, while hiding my position as Champion. It would also be great for me to test my skills further against trainers who made it all the way through the Elite 4.

I would definitely not be opposed to the idea. I like the idea of leaving to continue adventuring and eventually coming back to reclaim your title. However, I would much rather see a game straying away from the characters aspiration becoming the Pokemon Champion. Sort of how Coliseum was approached(More storyline/no gyms or E4), except for without the Shadow Pokemon.

This has been an idea that I've had for awhile as well, and I like it since (a) it cements your position as Champion and (b) it means there's a new challenge waiting after the Elite Four instead of facing the same party and person over again.

I think it would make sense if every now and then, a Trainer(Rival, Former Champion, Ace Trainer, MC from another game) beats the Elite 4 and you get informed of the challenge.

Then you'd fly to the Elite 4, select your Team from your PC. And then the levels are scaled and you battle.
Should you lose, you lose your title and the winner becomes champion. Should you win, there is always a chance you battle them again.

This seems doable, and very cool.
