"Grand! Raticate and I have a brand new apprentice!" The old man exclaimed. "My name is Obadiah, and by the day's end, you'll be a pro at Pokémon catching! Let's head on to Viridian Forest. There's plenty of Pokémon to search for there." You agree, and the both of you head out there.

Once you arrive in Viridian Forest, you find that the sun is almost completely blocked out. The towering trees cast off a giant shadow over everything. Suddenly a Caterpie pops its head out from the grass!

    Caterpie Lv.3
    String Shot, Tackle

"A perfect Pokémon! Caterpie! Observe, sonny! Go, Raticate!" Obadiah said as he released Raticate. "First off, you weaken the Pokémon! Raticate, Quick Attack!" Raticate obeyed and tackled the caterpillar Pokémon. Caterpie flew across the grass and into a tree, apparently knocked out. "Good. And once it's weak enough… Pokeball, go!" Obadiah said as he threw the Pokeball. There was a "PUFF" as smoke rose from around, and when it cleared, Caterpie was inside the ball. "That Caterpie was a pretty weak one," Obadiah said as he picked the ball up. "So it was easy. But most Pokémon will struggle to be released. And some may not even obey once successfully captured! Pokémon are very independent and wise creatures, son. Never forget that like us, they have their own separate personalities that make them unique." Charmander listened to Obadiah as if it was the Gospel Truth itself. You did so as well.

"No then." Obadiah began. "What Pokémon should we look for first?"

Oddish. You need a Grass-type to defeat the pesky Water, Ground and Rock-types that Charmander is weak to.

    Aw, nevermind.

    Pidgeotto
"Pidgeotto, ey? You're pretty brash. Pidgeottos are level 18 and above. Rushin straight past Pidgey." The old man chuckled. "Okay, let's go."

The two of you travel around the forest for awhile, finding many different bug and bird Pokémon, before you see a Pidgeotto soaring through the air. It is apparently scouting for food!

"There's one, kiddo! Do as you were taught!" What's your first move?
