"Isn't it obvious? These thugs are here to mine all of the Moonstone. Moonstone is a very rare and precious mineral that also plays a role in the evolutionary chains of many different Pokémon. They probably plan on selling the stones for big bucks, and to enhance the power of their Pokémon. However, taking ALL of the Moonstone out of this area might negatively affect the resident Pokémon. I also suspect that they're after the rare Pokémon here: Clefairy. Clefairy are renowned because of the legend that they're ALIEN Pokémon. If so, they'd be one of the few species we know of…" Brock explained.
