Here is where you can discuss the introduction of the series' primary villains, a trio of Team Rocket members, in "Pokémon Emergency!"

    My review to come forthwith.

Oh, about the only episode where Team Rocket look evil. Then get killed by Pikachu and think it's strong. It's kind of weird why they would think that though, since they SAW Pikachu being powered up by the bike.

There was something wrong about the statue-paintings of legendaries by Oak's video projection, I can't rememeber what though.

Hooray! The Pokemon Centre gets destroyed!

......Somehow, it feels like anything I have to say about Team Rocket in this episode is nothing compared to what you're eventually going to say, so I'm going to just skip it entirely for now.

As I look at it in retrospect, the whole "Jenny's reckless driving" deal in this episode actually became tradition, too, popping up again as more Jennys showed up. The same thing applies to Misty's bike, of course, but I already mentioned that in the other thread. And...oh, yes, Pikachu's "epic" Thunderbolt that turned it into TR bait. Though...I can't remember it blowing up any more buildings off the top of my head. XD

I think that's it for now. I'll come back with more (including the entire "relationship development" side) later.

Oh yeah, Officer Jenny driving into the Pokemon Centre was hilarious XD For some reason, it reminds me of a DP episode where she told Ash to look before crossing roads...in a forest o.O

Oh yeah, Ash sending out the useless Pokemon like Ratata and Goldeen was really funny, too XD

This was a great episode considering it was the first one to introduce several recurring jokes. I'll get to Team Rocket at the end of my post. Officer Jenny's driving was hillarious. And I love the Nurse Joy in this episode's antagonistic relationship with her "WE HAVE A DRIVEWAY YOU KNOW!". We are finally properly introduced to Misty (my favorite of the pokegirls), and we meet our recurringly stupid antagonists. The pokedex's abilites are touched on a little at the begining (Pokedex ID).

As for TR, i would like to point out that they were at one point elite agents for TR as later described by several TR members and their own accounts. I would like to point if you remove Ash & Co. from the equation, roughly 60 - 75% of Jessie and James heists would have worked. There obsession with Pikachu that starts in this episode is what has led to their downfall.

I love the episode. The first of a few times I thought Team Rocket was an actual threat. With super powered Pikachu, Joy and Jenny, and all of those Pikachu making an army and using Thundershock or Thunderbolt (I can't remember, right now.).

The nostalgia for this episode is over whelming for me. I might post more if I remember stuff.

So yeah, I liked this episode too, mostly for TR though.

I liked how we got a nice sunset view of them.

And Meowth is such a censor heh heh.

Love the extended motto music though. And the motto sounded nice and deadly with the smoke and everything.

Ironic how they say they're not there for the electric rat. lol

Is it just me or are they just standing in still shots a lot.

Heh heh Misty, you are so stupid using a Goldeen out of water.

You had to feel sorry when they try to make their escape and then their baloon just HAS to pop right then.

    Good episode.

Understandable. Despite what I've said on TR in the past, this is my favorite TR episode, ever (the other exception being the St. Anne one). If only because of the sheer potential and the then-endless possibilities (the only time I actually thought they would shift to dark/evil). Dogasu has some interesting observations, so wait until I post the Clefairy episode discussion early next week before you go to town. I'm saying that, as he really hits it on TR and their gradual evolution in his episode comparison (in my opinion).

Speaking of whom, here's the episode comparison, which is mostly dialogue edits:

sirboulevard, actually, the TR trio being the top agents is more a fanon issue. Icha straightened me out on that, so I'll let him do it for you.

This episode was stunning. I loved it very much.

I mean LOOK! Actual wanted signs! I liked how they were seemingly all dark and evil. The motto was nice to hear too. Who knew they would follow Ash and co. for so long that they turned out to some comic trio that provides comic relief. XD

The Pokemon Center exploded. o.0 Where else could you see that?

Misty was hilarious sending out Goldeen. XDD

'We have a driveway you know!"

Watching it now is kind of ironic. Getting reminded that these actual villans with wanted posters ruin their whole reputation and lives following a pikachu that they will never get. Even as far as becoming a comedic joke, but you need Team Rocket. The show needs our lovable klutzes in the mix.

I'm...afraid I'm not sure what you're talking about here. All that I can think of is the inconsistency, although it is late here and my brain isn't exactly working right because of it. Reminder, please?

The second episode. Never as good as the first one but just as epic. Teeheehee We get the introduction to Team Rocket who we will later find out to be very repetative. Teeheehee

I was always under the idea that they were really good before meeting Ash and friends. I mean they were so bad that they had wanted posters. That is something big. Teeheehee

I guess besides some new characters we also see the beginning of many different types of edit on 4Kids side. Su. I wonder how those edit would have been handled now with PUSA? Su. I guess we will never know. Teeheehee

The first of many blasting off again~

"You're the apple of his eye"
    "Yeah... a rotten apple"

    XD

Anyway, gosh, Team Rocket's greatness, they were actually evil. (And jeez, the voices.) Officer Jenny's driving, awesome. XD And the army of Pikapower, haha. And boom, Pokémon Center goes bye bye. o_o

It was Arcanine, it was there with the three legendary birds.

Oh, sure. The whole "J/J/M were the top agents, then Ash came in and wrecked their reputation. They then lost grace with Giovanni and the TR org because of it."

    How's that?

Ekans looked great and this is when we learned that Team Rocket were only teenaged.

Did anyone else think the Pikachu on the treadmill was cute? I thought it was adorable, actually. Until they arrived en masse to fry the Rockets, and "shouldn't they be dead from all that voltage?" Haha....

Agreed, I thought it was cute too.Nice to see how Pocket Monsters work together and all that jazz. If only Pichu were generation one, dang. Still, seeing this miniature army defend Pikachu was pretty epic. XD

Indeed. Too bad we never see the Pikachu on the treadmill again. Although, we did have the Pikachu fight en masse on the St. Anne episode, but that isn't the same thing. Almost, but not quite.

    How's that?

And how they were supposed to be these great agents yet Ash & co. managed to beat them so easily? Yeah, I don't think I need to say anything more here, do I? :)

Yeah, the Pikachu-on-a-sticktreadmill was cute...but I liked the four-screen bit they did here a lot more. Yes, in a way it reminded me of the Brady Bunch...but that would actually make it more enjoyable. *shiftyeyes* The whole idea about shifting around randomly between the Team Rocket members gave the attack more effect than seeing them altogether, I think. Too bad we never see that trick again.

*ahem* So, about that "relationship development" I mentioned earlier. First off, the obvious: Ash & Officer Jenny. ...Just kidding. Actually, the connection between Ash & Pikachu was still developing at an impressive pace here. In the first episode, we see Pikachu opening up to Ash after giving him the cold shoulder for most of the episode, but here...is where we actually see the connection forming. Ash's worry for Pikachu is obvious, but already Ash is able to make sense of what Pikachu's saying, and they practically just met. This actually ruins the whole "Ash = newbie" point that the writers were going for, as I doubt that ANY newbie would be able to decipher his/her Pokemon's language that fast.

    ...

I guess I have to say it: we see the same thing with Ash & Misty. ...I mean, just Misty. She thought that Ash was some random jerk or something in the last episode, and was furious over her bike, but that changes almost as soon as she sees Ash worrying about Pikachu. ....... I'm stopping there.
