Emerald hack: Pokémon Modern Emerald (Complete, 2.3.3 Released! Following Pokémon, Modern Battle Frontier, and more!)

After many months, 2.3.2 is here! There's really not much to it, but I had some time and I updated some stuff:
  • Added an ability changer NPC! Can be found in the Hyper Training gym, at the right. Only after becoming champion, costs 25.000$.
  • Nature Mints can be bought even when the option is set to "OFF", but only after becoming champion.
  • BF win Streaks now have a multiplier to the amount of Battle Points being rewarded, which will reduced grinding but only if you are good.
  • The "Even Faster Joy" option now does a sound effect after healing the party to notify the user of it.
  • Added false swipe as egg move to a bunch of Pokémon.
  • Added some checks to menus if users have "L=A option" enabled.
  • Fixed Mauville's coin price (only the text was wrong).
  • (Kinda) Fixed multi-hit moves with Pokémon that have the ability Sturdy. Kinda janky fixed, but I believe it works.
  • Fixed some Pacifidlog tiles.
  • Fixed sprite duplication in HGSS Pokédex. More bugs remain, but are related to the HGSS Pokédex Dex and not the hackrom itself.
  • Fixed too many typos, including "Citrus" to "Sitrus".
I am planning on fixing (but I would appreciate help if someone wants) Weather Ball as it's not doing super effective or not really effective, improving the IV-Setter to allow different Hidden Potential, and some other stuff. It won't come soon, probably, but keep an eye on it!

My screen stays black when I pick my starter? I re patched with the file here and a clean rom. help please

Hi, thanks for keeping the mod updated! Can you fix Leftovers next so that mons only "chomp" on it once when doing the animation? Saves a lot of time in battles.

That's an excellent idea! Will be available next update.

Unless you give more info, I can't help. Are you using mGBA? Are you using the correct Emerald base ROM?

Would it be possible to add the red clothing version of May and Brendan instead of the green version they have for Emerald? Or make it a choice in the options? Or any clue on how I could edit the rom and do it myself?

Somehow, whenever I randomize the type effectiveness, I always get Normal being super effective against Dark and Fighting, resisted by Fire and Poison, and ineffective against Ghost. Other types get randomized as they should. I'm on version 2.3.2, by the way.

Type randomization is a pain in the ass. I'll see what I can do.

Glad to see that you're still updating this even though it's mostly finished.

I'm still really enjoying this, the nighttime visuals are great and I'm doing a randomizer run for the first time and I'm doing it on your harder difficulty. I love it. It's hard enough and everything is working flawlessly.

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned before but it would be nice to have a shortcut to pokedex from the different pokemon when you're looking at them from your party.

Is there somewhere I can go to learn egg moves? Or at least figure out which mons I need to breed to get an egg move?

I'm trying to get Recover on a Chingling.

I suggest updating egg move breeding to Gen 6, where hatched mons inherit egg moves from both parents (not just male parent).

And if it's possible, Gen 6 move reminder where a mon can relearn forgotten egg moves if it knew the egg move when it hatched.

IV-Maximizer in Lilycove doesn't take the correct amount of money from the player after maximizing IVs. It once took 73,200, and another time 68,000. Is that intended?

Bug: Norman's Kangaskhan doesn't have max friendship -which makes Return do very little damage.

Down, three. Right, five.
Press the button.

...Which button?

EDIT: Figured it out. It's down two, not down three.

I wasn't able to reproduce the IV maximizing taking the wrong amount, but I found that the money check wasn't the same as the money taken by the NPC. IV-checker checked for 60.000$, yet it takes 100.000$ as he mentions. Same with the EV-reset guy. This could lead to issues, and maybe that could be one of them.

I think Hi Jump Kick might be bugged. It ohkos Blaziken when it misses, when it shouldn't exceed half of max hp.
Not in Gen 3!

What a Hack my friend, what a hack!

However, it is with an inkling of shyness but certain determination that I must pose the following question.

Can we expect a Version 2.3.3 later down the line?

Or even, perhaps, a 3.0.1 release?

Why am I asking? Because I want to ensure if this is a Completed hack so I can sink my jaws into it for the foreseeable future :)

Thanks a lot! Have a great week my friend.

It has a complete tag, balance/bugfix updates doesn't make a game incomplete

I see. Thanks again for the insight.

Seeing you're well versed on the topic however. I've been looking at Paralell Emerald with interest, but I just can't commit to two Emerald Games of seemingly similar nature.

So my question to you is:

Any notable differences? other than Modern being complete and Paralell being "in development"?

It seems Quetzal, Parallel, Modern, Altered, Blazing all have pros and cons, and the more i do my research the more variants that appear, such as Inclemenent, Kaizo, Elite Redux, R.O.W.E, Recharged, Crest. . .
(ignoring seaglass because i don't like the Pokémon sprites flickering every single turn on every single battle for the entirety of the game, and i'd rather wait for Lazarus who not only fixes the flickering but offers a new region).

But why so many variables? What's "the good one" out of all that bunch? It seems daunting to play them all with the only difference being if I'm playing with Gen 9 mons or if they have PSS, or if Fairy Type is added to the mix, of there's Snow Tiles on certain cities during winter.

Ergo, everything sounds nice but I can only commit myself to one, and I'm not sure if Modern Emerald is the peak of them all because i don't see it mentioned often (at least not as often as Seaglass or R.O.W.E or Paralell).
