  • Melrose was very glad that her friends gained trust in her. It would be just a matter of time before she would be back, safe and sound. Lu-Lu patted her shoulder, and Melrose didn't really like that. She didn't show it, though, and forced a little smile. She was incredibly concerned about Ranger's safety, but she knew that he was in capable hands now. Caitlin's Synthesis would heal about 30% of the wounds and cease the bleeding. A skilled doctor would have to take care of the rest. Melrose didn't say anything and turned around, to approach Midnight and walk off. "Remember, Midnight: one wrong move and I will slash through your throat with the easiest of spells," she threatened. She was in enough trouble already and didn't want it to become any worse, so she had to threaten in order to achieve her goal. Midnight would be extremely sorry for it if he'd try anything right now. With a faint smirk on her face, Melrose stepped forwards and took charge over the Umbreon, who followed her. He was hiding a large grin.

Caitlin didn't trust the situation at all and wanted to call something out. She was distracted by Ranger's pained howl and tended to him right away. Melrose's hunch was right: she healed a third of hsi wounds and stopped his veins from bleeding like mad. Some muscle in his chest and arm was scraped away by the force of the crash and she knew that it would take years for his body to repair that. Even so, a large scar would remain forever. "I'm so sorry that you have to go through all this crap," she apologized. "I never intended to get you all into this, none of you!" she stood up.

  • "Stand down Jack" Said Jane in her most commanding tone. Leftie submitted, but stared wearily at the wild-eyed Leafeon before him.
"Who the bugger are you?" he said, frustrated. The Leafeon looked to Jane for confirmation, then said:
"I go by many names, but my most recent is Anne" she said, seeming to find it hard to speak.
"And you know her how, Jane?" he said the last bit with contempt that he didn't realise the strength of. He regretted it as he was out cold within seconds...

    Mortimer

Mortimer watched over Ranger as Caitlin patched him up. She was a real miracle worker; Ranger was still pretty badly beat-up, but she stopped the bleeding and everything and she did not even have any medical equipment.
"I never intended to get all of you into this, none of you!" Mortimer could hear from Caitlin's tone that she felt bad about what everyone has gone through.
"Now don't give me none of that Caitlin." Mortimer said standing up himself. "I would never wish for this to happen to Ranger, but we're not doing this because you've forced us to. We're doing this because it's the right thing to do. Don't feel guilty; we could have left at any time."

Mortimer circled around Ranger and inspected the damage done to him.
"Do you think that he'll recover enough to be able to walk? I can carry him if need be. He shouldn't be too heavy." Mortimer very gently nudged the Flygon with his snout.

  • Ranger woke up again to a searing pain. He grimaced and looked down at his side. The bleeding had stopped but he was still covered in blood and he was in a now three inch deep pool of it. The flygon struggled to sit up and examined his wings, probably the most necesary thing for his survival. His right wing was a bit frayed around the edges, but in working order, which relieved Ranger. He turned to Melrose who still seemed intent on leaving.
"Melrose, listen to me. Don't go. If he wants his daughter healed, he isn't going to need an escort to go and get her. He'll bring her back on his own if he really cares and then nobody else will have to get hurt," he pleaded with the eevee. "Just don't go."

  • Caitlin saw that Ranger was getting a little better and she smiled. She had full confidence in his healing process but immediately realized that it would take months for the Flygon's wounds to heal, if not years. "You're going to be just fine, but it will take very long. I'm not sure if it's handy to start walking right away. I think that if we put him to sleep now, Mortimer, that you'll be able to lift him without much pain. We'll take him to the base where I work. We have terrific doctor's over there. It's fine for him to start the medical habilitation over there. There's enough room to fly and train," she explained. "And Ranger," she said, leaning in close to Ranger, "Melrose is very capable of handling stuff like this herself. It means a lot to her to arrest someone dangerous. And I know she will arrest Midnight and Moira as soon as the Espeon is patched up again."

Melrose walked in front of the Umbreon, who glared at her with his red eyes. He was up to something, Melrose was sure of that. She already foretold that Midnight would be going to ambush her once reunited with Moira. And that was exactly what happened when Midnight en Melrose reached Moira. "She isn't ill, is she?" the black Eevee hissed between clenched teeth.
Midnight snickered. "You're wrong over there. She is ill, but it's not severe at all. A simple flu."
Melrose made a swift turn and faced the Espeon in front of her.
"Hi Melrose," she smirked, but sneezed immediately afterwards.
Melrose gulped and created a shield to wear off their attacks. "Bring it on," she said in a determined way.

  • After Jane had introduced Anne and explained that they would be sparring partners together, he calmed down. Day after day they would fight and learn, with Jane stepping in every other time. After a month had passed after Leftie being found he was close friends with Anne, and were getting very hard training exercises involving complex strings of attacks until the fateful day when it all went wrong. It was like any other day, really. They had started a sparring session when Jane suddenly collapsed, colour drained from her face and white foam around the corners of her mouth. He looked at Anne and they ran. They were chased and hunted through the mountain by Jane's assistants, sprinting though mile long caves until they reached the end of one particular cave, this cave ended in a waterfall. Realising that it was their only chance, Anne yelled:
"JUMP!!!". They pushed off of the ground and headed towards the screaming torrent of icy, foreboding and unforgiving water...

  • "This is not my idea of a good day," Ranger mumbled and leaned against Mortimer, glad for his warm presence. The heat given off by the camerupt made him feel more energized, but he was still in a great deal of pain. He looked at the rocks jutting out of his side with disdain. If they had been small, ground up bits, that would have been easy, but he had three slabs of stone the size of his foot protruding from his exposed muscle. "At least the bleeding stopped. Thanks Caitlen."

  • "It's all right," Caitlin sighed, still feeling as if she could do more for him, "but we have to get those stones out of the space between your ribs. There's one thing that you need to be aware of: once the rocks are taken out, the bleeding will start right away once again. The muscle will heal over time. I'm sure you'll be fine, but we need to be conscious of the fact that it will take a hugeass load of time. Weeks, if not months." Caitlin wasn't happy at all with what happened.

Melrose heard a sudden scream: "JUMP!!" She yanked her head sideways and saw a familiar figure leaping down a cascade. "Leftie!" she yelled.
Midnight began laughing. "You have to choose between your own safety or Leftie's. Good luck on deciding, he's storming downwards."
Melrose growled. "I'm going to rescue him," she growled. The instant she said this, she unleashed a spell and released two angel wings from her back. She took off and beat her wings to gain altitude and speed. Before Midnight could even consider capturing her, she was gone already.

  • "I know. We should probably wait until I've regained some blood though. I still feel dizzy and..." he looked at the pool he was sitting in, which made bile rise in his throat. "Yea... That."
The flygon gave a quick once over of his body, glad that the only injury was on his side, granted his entire side was skinned, but it was only his side. He felt so weak and the sticky feel of blood all over his lower body and in his toes made the flygon feel nauseous. "When this heals, if it heals, I'm going to have one big gouge in my body. I'll look awkward as hell and probably have a hard time flying," he commented.

    Lu-Lu

Lu-Lu knelt down by Ranger's side and looked at the stones in his side thoughtfully.
"I think I have a solution to remove the stones without causing a significant amount of more bleeding." Lu-Lu said while she studied the stones. "However, it will be a bit uncomfortable." Lu-Lu's hand froze solid from the use of an ice punch, but the Medicham held her frozen fist still.
"With your permission I could remove the stones. The ice should cause the bleeding to scab almost immediately, but I am aware that you do not enjoy ice attacks. May I continue?"

  • Ranger looked scared for a moment. He knew that Lu-Lu meant well by it, but the combination of facts that it was an ice attack and the slight possibilty that if she was off, even a little bit, she could easily turn his exposed rib to dust and shatter the rest.
"Do it, just make sure it all gets removed," he shut his eyes tight and turned away.

    Lu-Lu

Lu-Lu nodded and closed her eyes, using her psychic abilities to discern the pieces of stone jutting out of Ranger's side. Her eyes could miss the intricate details of the shattered stones, but her mind could discern the stone much more easily then her physical sight could accomplish. Lu-Lu reached a frozen hand to the stones lodged in the Flygon's side and began pulling them out, making sure to spread some of the ice on the wound to halt the majority of the bleeding that would otherwise gush out.

When Lu-Lu was using her mind to study her surroundings, time went deceptively fast for her. But as she continued to remove stones from the Flygon's side and freezing the wounds, she could sense that to Ranger this was going by much more slowly. Lu-Lu was as gentle as she could be, but there was a time when a wound forced her to press her frozen fist very close to the wound in order to stop the bleeding, and Lu-Lu could sense fear from the Flygon as she continued.

Lu-Lu did not operate on people very often, but her training in focus helped a lot in this case. Beneath closed eye lids she could determine the best way of removing a stone to avoid internal damage, and the best way to freeze it without harming Ranger. Lu-Lu wouldn't tell this to Ranger, but she found the process to be a very challenging and enjoyable puzzle. It was all about finding the most effective and most painless way of removing these pointed stones.

Lu-Lu pulled out one final stone from Flygon's side and inspected the rest of the wound to check for any mistakes. The Medicham could sense some dust and other small particles in the wound, but Lu-Lu had already taken enough risks in getting the more severe stones out of his hide. She stood up and nodded to the group.

"I have done what I could; we are going to need a specialist if we're going to improve Ranger's condition any further." Lu-Lu thawed out her iced up hands and inspected them; the Flygon's blood was on her hands from her work with his bleeding sides. Lu-Lu looked up from her hands to look at the rest of the group.
"When do we leave?" She asked, concerned about Ranger's condition.

  • Ranger yelped each time a stone was removed. He had thought she was going to just smash the stones near the base and was glad she didn't; it would have hurt considerably more if she had. The cold of the ice was soothing despite his dislike for the element. He leaned back, breathing hard from fear and the ice being so close to his lungs.
"Thank you. Thank you," he coughed dryly and licked the medichams cheek. He could only imagine how tense the situation must have been for her. "Is there any way to get this blood off of me? I'm starting to feel sick."

  • Caitlin watched in awe as Lu-Lu carefully removed the stones, one by one. She herself would never be able to do such a thing. Maybe there was a spell, but Caitlin didn't know it. However, as she saw Ranger struggling not to faint from blood loss and sickness, she came up with a little plan. She made some nearby water levitate and heated it on Mortimer's back until it began to boil. She always carries a bag with her with a small towel in, no exception this time. She drenched the towel in the hot water and approached Ranger. "This might hurt a little," she admitted, slowly pushing the desinfected towel against Ranger's side. She carefully washed him until all the blood was off. "It's just natural for you to feel nauseous. And don't worry about the healing; it will over time. With a little bit of luck, the only thing that will remain is a scar. Flygon regenerate themselves incredibly fast."

  • Yes, but how did you know that I was going going to appear near you, I might have made my ascent from the mountain more slowly, or come to the crater
