Crystal hack: Pokémon: Peridot Version (Final Version BETA Available Now)

I'm 3 gyms in and i am loving it, but i'm running into an issue that I haven't seen anyone else commenting on. When i catch a pokemon with a full party it seems to disappear.

For example, I've just beaten the 3rd gym and i went north to the little stretch of route 10 and encountered a hoothoot. I caught it and the game said it was sent to the PC. I went to the PC but didn't see it in there, only a few pokemon i had manually put in myself.

I can see boxes 1-14 and only box 1 has any pokemon in it.

When i went back to route 10 and i encountered another hoothoot the game told me i had previously caught one - the little pokeball was showing up below the HP bar - but I can't seem to find it.

I'm running 1.18 (didn't realize until just now there were more recent versions than what pokeharbor had). Am i just looking in the wrong place or is this a known bug that has been fixed?

PS thank you so much for all your hard work and responsiveness. I just read through this entire log to see if someone else talked about this issue and you are a saint.

What emulator are you using? Is it SkyEmu by any chance?

I really want to give this a spin again sometime, but I am concerned about the mechanic change with regards to obedience and levelling up. Don't you think a level cap at 70 would be a much better option?
I'm not a fan of strict level caps, I think an obedience cap does a better job at encouraging you to switch up what you're using. Especially for Lugia and Ho-oh, both of whom are captured at level 70. It gives you a small window to use them reliably, but you're going to have to deal with rolling the dice with them after too long.
While it's not something I have any intention of changing myself, I welcome anyone to make their own personal changes. The code is available for a reason.

Would you be against releasing a separate patch with a hard/soft cap?

I don't really want to maintain multiple versions. I thought about making it a difficulty toggle, but that would require you to restart the game.
I do hope you consider making it a toggle, because that feature alone would make the game more accessible to players as the can choose their preferred difficulty option. It really does lead to a more personalised experience.

The plan now is a difficulty selection screen before starting the game. Normal will be unchanged. Relaxed will return obedience to how it was in official games(traded Pokemon will still disobey). Expert will make the most changes- it will remove saving from the start menu and move it to the PC menu, force all battles to be set, and reset to the title screen if the player whites out. There will be no changes to levels or encounters in any difficulty mode. I may implement a title screen cheat to change the difficulty setting for existing saves, but it will be something you can only do once.

v2.0 Beta 2 has been released. Download
The main feature of this update is the new difficulty selection screen. It is presented on a new save file, but can be accessed on existing saves by holding Down, Right, Start, and Select on the continue screen. The difficulty modes work as follows:
  • Relaxed: Remove the obedience check for player-owned Pokemon.
  • Expert: Force the set battle style, disallow items in trainer battles, disallow saving from the start menu(moving the option to PCs), and resetting the game if the player loses a battle.
Spoiler: Changelog

Thank you ao much for releasing a version with optional difficulty!

There's a really irksome softlock glitch in the game that needs to be fixed. If you lose even once, you get sent to a room with a time machine, and herein lies the problem. You're unable to leave because it hasn't been made available to the player yet, and the bookshelf still remains in place, trapping you there permanently if you already saved.[PokeCommunity.com] Pokémon: Peridot Version (Final Version BETA Available Now)

How did you manage that? I can't recreate it on my end. How far in the game are you when it triggers? How did you white out?

I whited out in just a normal trainer battle on route 1. I only had 3 badges, but it happens no matter how many badges I have. I experienced it the first time around in Murphy's gym and from that point onward, I saved after every single battle. My relevant beta info and file deets. If I could attach the save file itself, I would.

Did you load a save state of an old version after updating? Does it happen on a fresh save? Have you visited any Pokemon Centers? Because I just started a new save, beat the first leader, and lost a battle afterward without having that issue occur.
You could DM me your save.
