Emerald hack: Pokémon Revelation v231014: A Vanilla Improvement Hack for Hoenn

Pokémon Revelation v231007 Update Is Here!

As I expected with the last big update, there were some regressions. This update primarily serves to fix those issues. If you ran into issues with magically-appearing Pink Ribbons and palette chaos at Sootopolis, this should fix them.

There's a couple of new features, too! Changes for this version are included in both the spoiler below and in the "Changelog.txt" file included with the download. Enjoy!

Spoiler:

Throwback was great, and this looks like it must be as well. Thanks.

One feature request- is it possible to make the Gym Rematch triggers easier? In vanilla, you need on average 1500 wild battles or 500 trainer/battle frontier battles to trigger just the first round of 8 matches.

Perhaps this is commonly hit for those who do and train teams for the battle frontier? But if you just want to do some events and rematches this is an enormous grind, and currently the E4 rematch is locked to this.

Really all the Gym rematches could use reworks -the first teams are all inadequate for anyone whos run the E4, and for the early gym leaders all their teams are kind of sad- but I am aware thats generally not within the goals of your project.

Edit: It appears that on route 114 Zangoose is the 1% encounter and Lombre is the daytime encounter? Possibly this is local though.

I certainly could adjust Gym Leader rematch chances. I hadn't thought about that before, so I'll add it to my to-do list. Like you said, though, the rematch lineups likely won't change.

Zangoose at 1% is the nighttime encounter. It's 19% during the day. Lombre is a 10% encounter during the day only. Seviper and Nuzleaf are the opposite time-of-day encounters for those two, respectively.

I'm not sure how active this thread still is, but I've got a small question. So, I've really been loving this romhack-- so much so that I decided to try for a full pokedex now that it's actually possible in one game-- and I'm at the point where I only have a few stragglers left. Including the onix and larvitar lines, which brings me to my question.

When is Steven's little cave in meteor falls supposed to open up? I thought it was just after entering the HoF and reading Steven's letter in his house in Mossdeep. Is my rom bugging out or is there something else I have to do?

That aside, I'd just like to say again how much I'm loving Rev. All the changes and additions really feel like the way the game should have been from the start and it's now the "definitive" way to experience Emerald in my books. Great work.

afaik you need to beat Juan then the E4 and Wallace

Oh my goodness. I was actually working on a hack with this exact premise (Just regulard Emerald with QoL improvements), I can't believe someone else was doing this already. It's a shame I didn't find it before, this seems so good!

I'm curious about how you implemented some of the stuff, but if you're not comfortable with sharing that that's totally fine. I'll keep working on my version in the meantime, since there's a few points I'd like to do differently.

Anyways, keep up the good work!

This hack looks excellent. I have one question, though. Are the secret base decorations still locked to that terrible rooftop sale that almost never happens? That is one thing in vanilla that was awful and would be nice to see fixed.

yes, but iirc it's easier to get random events (the news happens every day in the morning after beating the league once iirc)
