I'm having troubles deciding between the two. Now don't get me wrong, Sun and Moon looks amazing but my Uncle just gave me $50 for (classified info). Now since I have it I feel like buying X & Y because I never bought it, not sure why though. Anyways, the wait for Sun and Moon is going to kill me. I'm not sure if I should just wait till November for the release or just buy X & Y. See, the problem here is I barely get any money from my mom because she doesn't like games and thinks they're turning me into the devil himself, and I don't have a job yet myself (18, waiting to get out of school). It's either one or the other, wait it out or buy X & Y. So for those who have played X & Y, let me know if the games any good and if it's worth it. I own Omega Ruby in case that helps with anything.

I think you should get X and Y now. The games are released near December so you can hope for Christmas money, or do some odd jobs for neighbours in the mean time. X and Y ate excellent games and still pretty current. Anything can change in six months so you're better getting the possibly discounted (due to being out for a few years) games than wait six months with nothing to do.

So I think X and Y is safest bet, especially since we know so little about these games.

Like what was suggested above, it would be a good time to get X & Y now since the game has been out for three years now and has probably gone through a discount so you should be able to buy the game cheap compared to 2013 when it was first released.

There's some good features like trainer customization (the most positively reacted feature in Pokemon in recent years) and Mega Evolution, but unfortunately the storyline and character development falls flat, in fact there's so little development that it's pretty easy to forget most of the rivals and Gym Leaders after your first playthrough. There's not as much new Pokemon as other generations, but the huge Pokedex does allow you to build a decent team with variety which wasn't easy in most games.

We may have gotten some news regarding Sun & Moon, but not much else is known, and with a November release date there's a close chance you could likely consider them for a Christmas present since it's likely someone may give you some money to buy a gift.

Bought Y, came with some others guys account. He had about 93 POKEMON with him and a few I didn't have including legendaries and one shiny, cool, cool.

Nice! I prefer to buy used games because they're usually cheaper (except for HG/SS, I can't seem to find one for less than 65-70 bucks).

The girl who had Platinum before me was clearly working on a living dex and had her PC boxes organized by Pokemon type. She also had two Pokemon nicknamed MJ, likely after the late Michael Jackson.

I also got my Diamond used. The guy only had 3 gym badges and had called himself Bez K. and his rival Austin.

Is this mostly about your decision, then? The games haven't been released yet, so most comparisons will be speculative. Still, at this point most of the games are increasingly similar, so if you like S&M you'd probably have liked X/Y anyway, etc. If you plan on playing X/Y at some point, may as well get a start on that, otherwise you can try waiting.
