Appearance: Vash is a rather large Crobat. However his size as a zubat was almost comparable to a runt, but went through a growth spurt as he became a Golbat and eventually a Crobat. Aside from that, he has your standard Crobat features. A healed yet visible scar adorns his midsection obtained some time ago in a scrap with a Skarmory.
The Crobat wears a black belt with an attachment piece. The piece contains a float stone, which makes him all the more lighter and faster while flying and gliding.
Personality: Reserved and straight-forward are two words to describe Vash. From a young age, he was always the least sociable than the many other bats of his cave. This was possibly because when born as a zubat, he was the smallest of his siblings and therefor was sheltered a bit more by his parents. This was due to occasional teasing and stares from other bats.
The Crobat may have also inherited his parent's caring and protective nature, although he'd never learn to express it when he was younger. Another issue this has caused has been his general lack of understanding or recognition when others use sarcasm or crack jokes. Because of this, other pokemon often tell him to "loosen up" and "get a sense of humor". This caused Vash to drift out into a loner state of mind and become more of a thinker.
However, once taken into the Tribe of Wind Masters, Vash's talents and personality were embraced by his new comrades. This lead to Vash becoming analytic, wise, and more confident. While still not extremely sociable he does however find security and stability in numbers. Conversely, the Crobat does still enjoy the quiet, and tranquility of solidarity. A bad habit he has developed would be thinking out loud and trailing off during sentences. Sometimes people would still consider Vash lacking a sense of humor and taking things to seriously.
History: Vash was born into a cavern within the mountainous regions of Atlica. The same cave was home to countless other bats. After becoming a Golbat and opening his eyes for the first time, as well as undertaking a sizable growth spurt, the Bullet journey off on his own to go out and see the world. Vash had grown used to his freedom and enjoyed the open wind beneath his wings. However within the first week of his journey, the young bat accidentally trespassed onto the territory of a Skarmory. Despite pleading forgiveness, he was soundly beaten out of its terriotory even retaining a physical scar from the encounter.
Fortunately, on that very day a Braviary had spotted the battered and bruised Golbat and nursed Vash back to health. The Braviary revealed to Vash that he was part of a small nomadic tribe of Wind Masters driven to locate and protect the Sky Plate. Their quest has urged them to seek out the Plate's Paragon; Rayquaza. Ultimately, Vash was taken in by the tribe's leader Typhon, a Dragonite. Much to Typhon's surprise, Vash had excelled in their most rigorous exercises, training, and teachings. Upon evolution to Crobat, he achieved one of the highest speed stats in Atlica. Soon he was well recognized as a Hero of the Flying Mastery.
However, the higher authorities of SkyHaven heard of this as well. Recently the SkyHaven council discovered the giant vessel of the Sky Plate, called the Pinnacle. However until their news of the Hero of the Flying mastery they had no way of accessing the plate. Within the next week, they organised to capture Vash in order to use him. It took careful planning and precision but were eventually able to blindside and capture The Bullet. The SkyHaven council then forced the bat to bring them the plate. Realizing that Sky Plate he had been searching for was now within reach, Vash openly complied to locating the plate within the Pinnacle. Within the castle like vessel contained a bronze seal and within the seal the Sky Plate.
Vash used his abilities of a Hero to unseal the plate. However in the blink of an eye, he resealed it. Accused of treason, Vash countered stating that the vessel was the only safe place to store the plate and he was the only key to the seal. Ultimately the council decided to allow Vash to become the sole caretaker of the plate. For the past for years, Vash, The Bullet has guarded over the Pinnacle and assuring no pokemon trespass onto its grounds.

Pierce the Cunning Shadow ~ Duskwood
Pierce took a bite of his apple and glanced back at the others. He wondered how long it would be before they all at least somewhat accept eachother's presence. Hopefully this little adventure would build on that.., he thought. Instead of concentrating on the others, the Gengar decided to tune out and moniter the surroundings. The moonlight laced across the moist vegetation creating shadows that seemed to dance to and fro as he drifted forward through the forest. Briefly the ghost type had forgotten the dangers that lurk within Duskwood and carried on with the group calmly. That was until Toa had approached him and Pierce descended back down to reality.
"Tell me, Pierce, what connection do you have to the Trade Prince?" He asked casually. "I noticed that he and you seem to have some history, and I don't trust him. Tell me everything you know."
Pierce took a moment to glance around the answered in a somewhat low voice. "Sure I'd be glad to as soon as we find a place to settle down. Its sort of a long story and it can wait until we're sure the brotherhood isn't on our tail, or rather wont be." Toa gave him a withering look, but all the same the Gengar was silent. After a moment he spoke again. "However, I do agree that Januario is very manipulative when it comes to money. But our common adversary is the King. We can at least be sure he'll be of some help...for now anyway.
***
After a while of traveling Pierce had gotten bored and started bouncing a tiny uncharged shadow ball between his palms. It was small enough to make only a very dim light. Somewhere along the line, the Gengar questioned himself if he should be rather keeping an eye out for the brotherhood. However he frown as he came to the realization that keeping lookout only to view shadows and sleeping birds was becoming tiring. When Tsulong called out to them, Pierce almost dropped the orb suprised, as the Shadow Pokemon wasnt paying attention to anything else.
"Look," he called out to the rest, "that ought to be Old Man's Rest, the pond on the map."
"I say we set up camp next to that hill over there," Tsulong suggested, "it'll keep us hidden well enough. I'm hungry, anyways, gotta have something to eat. Also, I want to hear what Pierce can tell us about the Trade Prince."
Once they reached the cover of the hill, Pierce then drank from the pond. He did so in a fasion using psychic that brought the water to him. All the more convient. After he was done, he grinned wide as he noticed the others waiting for him to share his history with the trade prince. Once Pierce had filled the gap in the circle of the heroes and cleared his throat.
"Well as you know, The Trade Pince is a powerful and accomplished businessman and very well known throughout Atlica. Just like pretty much every other Pokemon in the city, has traded or had a transaction with the Pikachu at some point. However a few years ago in particular was pretty significant. I had just finished making my way to Cyala from Skyhaven my usual preferred route of trade. I'm no slouch in trading and bargaining either. Well, anyway it just so happened that Januario was in town and doing a good job of attracting all the townspeople and doing business with them. I however didn't feel like trying to go through the masses of pokemon. Instead I approached the Trade Prince once he had send them all away for some time alone, the best setting of which to make a deal." Pierce grinned widely at his own cleverness. "However, I listened in on his conversation with himself before I approached him.
The Pikachu seemed somewhat distraught that none of the Cyala or Skyhaven residence had a light ball that he could seize. Light balls you see, are rare items that Pikachu have a great affinity with. That is when I offered to trade him. Of course at first he was very annoyed until I mentioned the possibility of getting him a light ball. Yes, that took a hold of his attention. Apparently desperate for the orb, I was able to have the Trade Prince agree to a very price to sell for. The only problem was...I didnt actually have the light ball on hand. I tell ya, he was mad but I offered to get him numerous light balls within a reasonable amount of time, and of course it may have very well been a once in a life time opportunity. In the end, Januario gave in gave me four days to come up with the light balls before he left Cyala."
Pierce shrugged and smirked as he continued on. "The irony of the situation is that he could have had them long ago. Some time before that day, I had recieved an old, damaged book from one of the the Trade Prince's merchants. He apperently had no interest in the book and therefor never even bothered to open it. Thing is, that book was apperently a lost heirloom from a family a of pokemon that once traveled to Hoolefar Island. It contained a map to the island, journals notes, etc.. Hoolefar is a largely unheard of and uncharted island containing dangerous jungles, and many wild pokemon including many Pikachus. Yes, I was sure if I could meet these Pikachus they could give me light balls to give to the Prince.
I hired the most reliable crew of pokemon I could find to help me sail oversee to Hoolefar. They were more than happy to assist my journey once they heard of the reward. They largely traveled together and were all experience at sea as well as owning a vessel. Well, soon after we arrived we were soon able to find the tribe of Pikachus. They weren't hostile any and were particularly generous of the light balls we requested. The Pikachus seemed to be somewhat intrigued by my presence as ghosts were an a very rare sight on the mainland of Hoolefar. However our celebration was cut short when we were met by the Jungle Alphas. Wild and vicious pokemon that lay claim to the jungles in Hoolefar and were far less receptive of guests than the Pikachus. They had captured two members of my crew hostage and refused to let us leave the island with the light balls in hand. The Jungle Alphas proposed a treacherous deal in order to achieve freedom. The beaches of Hoolefar had recently been haunted and overrun with ghosts. No one on the Island knew what they were or how to deal with them and as such, fishing was cut down drastically and many pokemon that had to cross the beaches were going hungry. Noticing that I was a ghost type myself, the leader of the Jungle alphas demanded that I rid them of their ghost problem and they would let us go."
Pierce took a moment to glance up at the dawn before finishing. "Sure enough, I handled their ghost issue in a timely manner. The Jungle Alphas being a bunch of Pokemon that had cherished honor and what not, let us go and we made it back to Cyala quickly. On arrival we delivered the Light Balls to the Trade prince and were rewarded rather handsomely. And I did give a share of the profit to the crew. Januario seemed pretty grateful for the many orbs he had attained. It was when were met at the meeting were he said he sold all but one for double the price and became all the richer. Light balls are said to greatly enhance the power overall of Pikachus. In fact...", Pierce thought for a moment. "I believe I kept one of my own stashed somewhere."
@CourageHound welcome back, mate! Vash the Bullet is accepted. Nicely done. His introduction into the RP will have to wait a bit, though, till we're done with the Duskwood sequence of events.
I prefer keeping as less people as possible in this RP, out of fear that excessive people might drop out or be unable to keep up, leaving me to take care of their character. Read a bit of the IC to make sure you're into this stuff. If you're sure you can make the commitment, make a SU. I might be impressed.
You can pick any mastery aside from those already taken. The slots are as follows:
- Ray Maverick, as Tsulong the Exemplar of Fire, of the Fire Mastery
- Sir Bastian, as Vincent "Vince" the Wanderer, of the Water Mastery
- Greiger, as Reginard Asphos the Chronicler of Tales, of the Psychic Mastery
- Garet, as Roscoe the Leech, of the Grass Mastery & as Captain Vallckran, of the Dragon Mastery
- PJBottomz, as Loria the Frozen Witch, of the Ghost Mastery - CourageHound, as Vash the Bullet, of the Flying Mastery
Thanks, tomorrow I'll read more of the IC - though I'm pretty sure I like what i've read so far - and then take a crack at writing a good enough SU. Just wanting to make sure but at this point, should I leave the current whereabouts of the character fairly open ended in their history so they can be worked into the RP easily?
Yeah, you should leave the whereabouts unclear, just remember: it will be Elder Durand who has sent your hero to aid the others; as such, you might not be able to join us till the Duskwood sequence of events is over. It'll be over soon, so nothing to worry about.
Name: Gaius the Disciple
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Species: Lucario
Elemental Mastery: Fighting
Appearance: In terms of body itself Gaius is like any other Lucario, save for a small scar that runs across the side of his mouth and a long one that runs down from one shoulder across his chest like the strap of a bag. He wears a long white sash wrapped several times around his waist with a small "tail" of fabric hanging down near his real tail and, when travelling in poor or cold weather, he wears a travelling cloak of roughly cut grey fabric fastened at the neck which is stowed in the small pack that carries his belongings when not needed.
Personality: Gaius is obsessed with self-improvement and perfection and training in pursuit of such has dominated much of his life. In some ways this has made for a happy life and in others a miserable one; his drive to improve means that Gaius can find himself happy in many situations others would dislike as long as he is improving himself but, with the desire for perfection comes the inevitable fall when the goal proves unattainable. Gaius never quite understood that perfection was an impossibility, a subjective statement that he would never be able to completely meet. Depending on how you look at it, this misunderstanding is either Gaius' greatest strength or his greatest weakness; it provides him with the drive to push ever onwards but also the capacity to fail innumerable times.
Gaius far from fits the calm, scholarly image his title suggests. He has very little patience when things do not go exactly his way and a rotten temper when his little patience is tested. He can be very arrogant and has too high an opinion of himself and his skills yet at the same time he is his own hardest judge. He does not tolerate insults to himself very well. Despite these faults he is not particularly nasty by nature; when calm he is generally very kind, especially to those he perceives as weaker than himself. While he is kind to those weaker than him Gaius prefers to seek out those of a similar or greater strength, so that he may learn from them or test himself against them. These individuals Gaius regards with an odd mixture of respect and hostility; he is loath to admit that someone he meets is stronger than him and takes each one he meets as a blow to his pride.
In general, Gaius shuns the company and companionship of others, feeling that feelings of attachment to others and the emotions that come with them are yet another element he cannot control standing in his way. However, like his other pursuits, it is easier for Gaius to preach this belief that it is for him to actually enforce it on his mind; while Gaius does not actively seek friendship when he spends long periods around other pokemon he finds himself growing attached to them despite his wishes. Always willing to throw himself into a worthy cause, Gaius will find some justification in his mind to throw himself into aiding those he has become attached to while trying to not admit to himself that he has lost control of his emotions yet again.
As might be expected, Gaius is not one for idle chat and small talk, though he can sometimes be goaded into it in situations where there is little else for him to do. He has a healthy sense of humour and can enjoy jokes, though his own ability to tell them is rusted over from lack of use.
History: Gaius was born, and spent most of his life, in a small community on the southern side of the mountains that host Acanthus. The community was made up mostly of humanoid pokemon dedicated to mastering the martial arts, and it is here that Gaius received his outlook on life. The first 15 years of his life were spent here, living quietly with his parents and learning alongside the other pokemon; for this time, Gaius was happy. His identity as a hero showed itself here and he progressed and learned quickly, in his eyes mastering the arts that his masters taught him.
Gaius' life was shaken up when he, along with many of the other inhabitants of the community, went out on a trip to investigate rumours of a pokemon hailed as a legendary master of the fighting arts travelling near them. They found this master and Gaius, rash and confident in the skills that he had spent his entire life honing, challenged him to a duel; the master accepted and delivered unto Gaius one of the most humiliating and thorough defeats of his life. Limping back to the community in defeat Gaius spent the next few weeks thinking and rethinking and rethinking, trying to avoid the conclusion his mind had come to.
He had come to find the community and the single style it taught stifling and, as his encounter with the master had proved, not enough to bring him the perfection he had been conditioned his entire life to seek. In the end his mind was made up and Gaius left the community that he had lived out his entire life in, travelling west and seeking out the master who had defeated him. It took many weeks of hard travelling but eventually Gaius picked up the trail and found his target. Believing that the style the master used was the key to attaining the perfection he desired Gaius begged the pokemon to teach him. Seeing that Gaius had the will to learn and succeed, the master agreed and took Gaius under his wing.
For the next three years Gaius and Master Kan travelled across Altica, finding what dwellings they could as Gaius practised fiercely with his new teacher to learn the style of combat that had demolished everything that he had known as superior. It was difficult for him to adapt at first, the more flowing style of his new master but eventually, just as he had before, Gaius adapted and learned. However, as he had with the teachings of Master Roshi before him, Gaius eventually came to find that this style as well had it's faults, few as they were. Others might have been happy with the progress that Gaius had made already but by now Gaius' search for perfection had become an obsession and he would not allow even his beloved teacher to stop him. Gaius and Kan split up one emotional day in Try-way town; Kan going east to search for the city of Indrasil and Gaius going north to seek out those who survived in the frigid wastes up north.
In the end, it might be that Gaius learned more from travelling with Master Kan than he did learning under him. Rather than secluding himself in one spot as he had done in his youth Gaius continued to travel the lands but now, rather than focusing on learning a singular style of fighting to the exclusion of all else, he would seek out those who were skilled and learn everything that he could. Gaius did this for several years and learnt many things, honing both his body and his mind. He learnt how to manipulate Aura, how to control the energies in his body and push himself as far as he could go. He learnt of how the world worked, how to build, how to read... but no matter how much he learned there was always somebody better than him at it and always countless more things that e had no knowledge of. Slowly the startling amount of things to learn stopped being an opportunity and started becoming a prison that he would never escape from and achieve his goal.
Distraught, Gaius gave up and retreated to a mountain where he could be far from everyone else, far from all the reminders of what he could only see as failure. Gaius spent a long time there, thinking and trying to figure out what he had done wrong. He spent a long time in seclusion thinking but eventually his revelation came not from his own efforts, but from the actions of others. One day Gaius was awakened by shouts outside his cave and emerged to see a small family that had been travelling through the mountains being accosted by bandits. As a fight broke out Gaius jumped down from his cave, quickly turning the tables on the bandits and saving the family. Seeing an opportunity to do some good while he tried to figure out what to do with himself Gaius offered his services as an escort to the family while they travelled to their destination, it ended up being a trip of several months but at the end of it, Gaius looked back on it as one of the most satisfying things that he had done since parting ways with Kan.
Then and there Gaius decided that he would resume travelling the world, only now rather than simply trying to improve himself he would find worthy causes and attach himself to them. In this way he would still be able to test himself against fierce enemies and improve his knowledge but, if it came about that he never reached his goal as he had begun to fear would happen, he wouldn't have wasted his life. He would be able to say that he had made a difference. It was several years later on this quest that Gaius found his footsteps taking him to Area 52.
Moves: Bone Club, Close Combat, Double Chop, Aura Sphere, Dark Pulse, Extremespeed
RP Sample: Wrote Gaius' first encounter with Kan for the rp sample
Gaius' ears twitched as he tried to ignore both the pain in his leg and the murmuring of the pokemon around him, his eyes narrowed and focused on the one ahead of him. "Master" Kan was not what the lucario had been expecting at first – a slender, somewhat delicate looking pokemon with fur coloured various shades of soft purple – but he certainly earned his reputation in a fight. Gaius' body was locked in a ready position as he stared down his opponent but Kan didn't be in any hurry to move. Impatiently Gaius growled at his opponent, his breath billowing out before him in a cloud of mist as it hit the frigid air and in that moment his opponent moved, disappearing from sight while Gaius' own breath concealed his view.
Gaius never saw the kick coming but he sure as hell felt it as the meinshao got under his guard and delivered a powerful jump kick that lifted him off the ground and sent him flying backwards. He his the ground rolling but even so only just managed to raise his arm to deflect the follow up blow that was sent his way, Growling a challenge Gaius rushed forward and attacked before Kan could widen the distance between them again.
It was no good though. On his part Gaius was fighting as good as he ever did, his movements precise, powerful and flowing together. He was using everything that Master Roshi had ever taught him, everything that he had spent his entire life practising and this pokemon was jut picking him apart with the casual air of someone fighting a beginner. Every punch he threw was dodged by a hairs width and returned with a painful lash from the whip-like fur decorating Kan' arms, every kick batted away in a fashion that left Gaius stumbling for balance. When his opponent finally did go on the offensive it was with a startling flurry of blows that had Gaius back-pedalling for dear life, even his steel reinforced bones aching at the punch to his ribs that had gotten through. He did his best to fight back and put his all into it but in the end the only blows he managed to land were weak diversionary blows indented to set up a more powerful punch which was dodged instead. Eventually Gaius couldn't continue and when an uppercut sent him flying backwards to the ground he didn't rise.
Kan paused as he saw Gaius fail to rise, giving him a few seconds before relaxing his body and declaring himself the victor. Gaius glared up bitterly at him; the lucario was barely able to breath, never mind stand, and Kan looked little more fatigued than had he taken a leisurely jog. "Is there anyone else who wishes to challenge me?" he questioned to the surrounding pokemon, turning away and leaving the area when no answer was forthcoming. Gaius watched him go for a short while before letting his head sink to the ground and eyes droop as he felt hands lifting him up.
@Manska, neat. I can tell your thoughts are organized, you can stand up to the character you've created. I hope you'll be active with us, so we'll all have a merry time RPing. You're accepted. Spots are closed for now. FYI, we have a group chat in Skype, so you can join in if you want to, just PM me your Skype name.
As for when your character joins the rest... would you rather that was right away, or after a bit? Duskwood can last a bit longer, and I don't want to keep you waiting, so I'm giving you a choice here.
I wonder what Gaius would think of Faolan, the other Fight Master of the group (previously controlled by a player who left). Here is Faolan's SU, if you wanted to know more about him. Perhaps Faolan could teach Gaius a few things about his own style of fighting. I imagine since he's older, he is more experienced in one on one combat - being a pit fighter, once.
To avoid confusion, here's a list of all the heroes:
Spoiler:
(created by me and players who left):
Tsulong the Examplar of Fire (Arcanine)
Guardian (Golurk)
Pierce, the Cunning Shadow (Gengar)
Faolan the Wicked (Mienshao)
Toa the Blackhearted Duke (Zoroark, currently absent)
I'm fine with waiting a bit to bring him in after the Duskwood stuff, it'd probably be easier - for me and you - introducing him as the story switches from one arc to another than when stuff is kicking off in this one.
In light of the new posts, a new character is revealed! This is the self-proclaimed number one swordsman of the world, namely 'Scorpius', an indeed odd name for a female.
