Pokémon Type Groups

I've been wondering lately why Pokémon type groups include/exclude Pokémon that aren't the type that the group is based on. [Example: Dragon-type group doesn't have Altaria because it doesn't seem dragon-like, even though it's considered a Dragon-type in the game.] That's like having a Pokémon group on a different forum, but not including 4th and 5th generation because they don't seem like Pokémon... I don't really have an issue with including a few Pokémon that aren't the type of the group, but removing Pokémon of that type seems somewhat silly to me.

Hopefully this was the best place to post this.

That's right. It's getting ridiculous now. Why exclude a Pokemon just because it doesn't fit its typing. You might as well remove Doduo and Dodrio from the "flying" type fan club because they can't fly.

Another thing I'm wondering is the Pokemon claiming limitation. I think a Pokemon can only be claimed three times is fine. But only one time? Come on, now...

I think those who extra things are useless, imo. That's why in my club (which I should probably post in lol), I don't allow people to claim Pokemon, so they don't argue, but you can't really say something -isn't- a starter. And if one user likes one Pokemon that is excluded, then they'll feel left out and yeah idk, I just think it's unfair.

The same thing goes for kicking people out of the club if they don't post in a while. Like really, if they have Internet issues, or were in an accident, they're not going to rush on to tell the club. The whole banned rule I find most pointless overall :x Just let people be free to post wherever and don't force them into posting every single day otherwise they're not going to enjoy the club.

Those tiny little Group things in the corner? Ultimately it's up to whoever makes it what to do with it, isn't it? All anyone can realistically do is go ahead and make an Altaria fan club.

Considering the Dragon's Den, let me, the soon-to-be co-owner, help you out.
I think I'm speaking for the most active members if not for the majority of the Dragon's Den if I say that we consider the group not a fanclub of the Dragon type, but just Dragon Pokémon. Coincidentally, most Pokémon we think are Dragons have the Dragon type, and while a Pokémon being Dragon-typed is a very heavy argument for a Pokémon being a Dragon, it's not definite proof of it. We take moves, breeding groups and above all looks and origins in account when deciding what Pokémon are Dragons. Some months ago, we voted on wether Altaria was a Dragon or a bird, and for that I made this document. The majority of the members voted that Altaria was a bird, so he was removed from the club.
Also note that in first post it says debate is always open, meaning you can alwas start a discussion on what Pokémon you think should be added or removed from the club, given you have good arguments.

I personally think it's unnecessary that there exist clubs for certain types of Pokémon. Note that this is just my opinion, because I cannot like a Pokémon simply because of its type. I decide for myself what categories of Pokémon I like, and that might be Dragons, of Bugs, ot whatever. I like Pokémon because of their appearances and origins, not because of their types.

I hope you enjoyed reading my rant as much as I did writing it. By no means I want to offend anyone, I'm just expressing my opinion.

tkallab has a very strong point there. The Dragon Den club is not a Dragon Type club, only a dragon club. So I guess they can decide any pokemon they think is a dragon, not necessarily has the dragon typing, to be part of the club (they identified Charizard and Gyarados as dragons, and are part of the club. They are not dragon types).
