[Released] Pokémon Uakitite v2.2.0

Yeah, the quest system is really broken. One thing I need to focus on...

When you say stuck in the Pokémon Center, is it getting stuck in NPCs? If so, I've fortuantely gotten to that already. The Patrat one is new though.
no its not like a pathing stuck. when i go to leave the center i pop back up in the seating area over and over every time i try to leave. i tried sleeping in there to see if it would fix it, but nothing seems to budge. but when i completed the quest for the boy about the applin it sent me to the poke center too and i couldnt leave then either. might have been a bug that was triggered earlier in the story. it really could be anything at this point. and the Patrat one just force closed after i beat the 3 of them. so im stumped on that too

So with the fixed version finally released, let me explain why that was the case. To put it simply, it was outdated code using overlapping global variables with other functions. The function pbSetPokemonCenter that sets the positioning the player is sent to was poorly put together and also shared with the events that determine what version of the Pokémon Center, Quest Center and so on are loaded (since they use the same map). In fact, a lot of the issues that were plaguing this came from old code that just didn't work with modern systems. Combine that with someone like me who frankly doesn't playtest as much as one should and you get the buggy mess of what I'm now calling betas because they're that much of a mess.

So basically just "Chapter 1" right now. Currently working on the first bonus chapter, though I've slowed down a bit to see if I can get some people recruited in order to help with some of my weaker points.

Like mapping. I don't enjoy mapping and tilesets and all things overworld.
 
Hey, loving the latest release! But I still ran into some weird visibility bugs with the Mantrees. They keep glitching out in certain areas. Can you guys look into fixing it? Thanks!

Can you go into a bit more detail? Are we talking the chase sequence? The nest portion? The temple portion?

I'm doing another playthrough right now, but I'm a single person and can easily miss things.

Say hello to a massive bug-fix-fest. It had to be done because god I'm bad at playtesting.
Changes:
  • Updated the Chapter 2 title with the new sprites of Zaria (and technically Eris).
  • Changed the massive legendary statues because they're kind of ridiculous.
  • Changed the Wintoise trade to make Kiljar harder to get. You now get a hidden ability Scatterbug with a random pattern when it becomes a Vivillon.
  • Darkened the background for the gold skin.
  • Certain encounters lowered because they're being seen too early.
  • Removed the special Otherside moves since they just felt like needless complications for the player, and I'm not really doing anything with them otherwise.
  • Pokemon Center and Save Spa have time passing properties now.
  • New theme for trainer battles.
  • Made a whole bunch of new dialogue events for Carbon and Garter. Also some general ones that don't specify characters so there's always something.
Bug Fixes:
  • Removed the "Pokémon" that sometimes is eating in Simisavor. It, uh, doesn't work properly.
  • No more accessing the Item Box before you even HAVE the Item Box (aka from the Party menu).
  • Checked each tileset to handle any instances of staircase tiles making it possible to walk into walls.
  • Webster's determined emote had the full body in it.
  • Certain event indictors will crash because they of comment finickiness.
  • Zaria's first event was incompletable because of outdated variables.
  • Because of the non-Pokémon, catching wasn't possible.
  • One of the berry bushes had separated :CHESTOBERRY's y, leading to a crash.
  • Rock Smashing item rocks wasn't finding the map ID.
  • Proper prices of certain tiems were incorrect likely because of an updated PBS items file. So the "sales" of certain items were the opposite.
  • Forever Young had an if statement using = instead of ==.
  • Second Aero quest could be started early leading to spoilers.
  • The tip card was causing fishing to not function.
  • Multi-tapping a character when choosing the party causes a crash.
  • "Boo!" event didn't properly show player's portrait.
  • Carriage travel would crash due to the cutscene system..
  • Defeating the FROTA grunts in the canyon fortress might cause a softlock depending on what the counter variable is stored as. This has been reworked with a new variable dedicated to that section (which is just smarter anyways).
  • Trainers didn't act the same when losing the battle as with wild Pokémon when travelling by carriage.
  • A deadline finishing while in the carriage wasn't working.
  • Blocked off access to floor B3 of the canyon fortress to avoid repeat events (you're not going down there again anyways).
  • Since the fishermen were using temp switches in the gym, they would be rebattleable each time fishing,
  • Hints 2 and 3 were flipped in the gym.
  • Lotta's level 3 event used bag.delete, not bag.remove. Delete isn't a thing.
  • Eris' first event wasn't vanishing after completing it.
  • Issue with time skipping between Chapters 1 and 2 if not doing Chapter B1.
  • First bridge in Cozmao Pyramid already unlocked.
  • An exit in one of the Yurduneus City houses wasn't adjusted when the entrance was changed.
  • Dialogue won't happen when your carriage team isn't the full team. You're not talking to yourself of course.
  • "...and got hurt in the process!" when hunting/foraging had an error with partying with a temporary member.
  • Carriage dialogue wasn't properly working.
  • Carriage trainer battles sometimes break like they have a partner or something.
  • Wordchain event could technically be started with any character. Not just Zaria.
  • Player character missing when in carriage dialogue.
 
i tried to start the game, but i got a weird error right at the start. literally after the title shows on screen, this happens. I don't get to the menu at all.

I've never gotten that error before. How are you playing Uakitite? Because I know there are things like Joiplay or things that let you play these window games on Mac and whatnot. It's also coming from code that handles corrupt files and whatnot, so perhaps check the save folder? I'm not getting that error.

I'm not using joiplay at all. I'm clicking on the game.exe. However, i think i have realized what may be the problem. I don't have a save folder at all. I can't find it in the game folder anywhere. I tried to redownload the game, but it still doesn't have the save folder.

The save folder would be in a place called appdata of which you can reach typing %appdata% from the start menu. If it's not there, then that's a new error that I'm not sure why it even exists. Maybe create a folder called Pokemon Uakitite in there and see what happens?

Ah, okay. I was looking in the wrong place. That's on me, and I'm sorry. The folder does exist. I have an error log, File A.rxdata, and Game.rxdata in the folder. The error logs all say the same thing as what I posted before.

That's really... odd. Try moving/renaming those save files around. This includes renaming file Game.rxdata to File B.rxdata or just moving them outside of the save folder for now. I'm wondering if it's trying to transform that Game file to File A as the plugin does, but can't because that file already exists?

Moving them out of the file did the trick! I don't know why it did that. That has never happened with any of the other games I've played. Well, regardless, thank you so much for your help! I'm so excited to play!
