I see in the expansion that there is a bsplit gen 6 for the exp share. Does that mean that the gen 6 exp share function is already in the pokeemerald expansion? I'm a little confused. Also, is there a list of simple modifications that are compatible with the expansion?

The Gen. 6 Exp. Share is currently not implemented in the Pokeemerald-expansion.
The constant you seem to be referring to, B_SPLIT_EXP, affects whether the Pokémon that participated in battle (except the lead, which always gets full exp. no matter what) get the full amount of exp. obtained, or just half of it.
As you can see in the different config files for the branches, there's comments indicating the effect of each preference.

Every modification is compatible, in the sense that you can make things work out just fine.

Understood. Still learning how to do things. I find it easier to just put things in myself rather than use git pull.
