You have to contribute before you can access
the team's treasury. So no, I'm afraid.

Unless they were changed, I'm going off of what
Cyber told me when I first joined. I'm just a
leader, so if I'm wrong, please correct me some one.

You can join without contributing a thing. You just need to contribute to access the treasury.

Straight from the forums:

Here is all you have to do in order to receive any pokemon of the team:

1.
EITHER....
clone (at least) one of your "good" pokemon (for info check here) and trade it to a Leader so it can be added to the team's pokemon

EITHER....
a) you trade a rare pokemon to a Leader(trade-back)
b) we trade you some rare pokemon of your choice (look at the team's pokemon)
c) we clone your pokemon, give it back to you (you give a bidoof e.g. on the giving back trade)

2.your pokemon is added on the team's pokemon

3.you can get ANY of the team's pokemon for free (- 3 max per day/person *except if Pokemon are shared by the peerson)

4.after some days, when you have a good pokemon for the team you may start again from step 1
