Pokemon: Black Infection [IC]

(Hey, Nideous!)

The two other Cipher grunts got out of the truck, talking about where elm might be. Aston knew Elm, and he man was almost like an uncle or grandparent to him. He hadn't really been briefed on the mission, just told to get in the truck. He hopped out and looked around, followed by Ranger. "You sure you want to do this?" the maroon trapinch asked. "I didn't even know we were going to get Elm," Aston lowered his voice so the other grunts wouldn't hear him, "I don't even want to be doing this." Ranger sighed and looked at Aston. "Remind me of your valid reason for doing this again?" Aston didn't answer, "Right, okay," Ranger replied to the silence. Aston followed the grunts back into Newbark, his hometown. The grunts took off before Aston knew what was happening, and he ran off after them. "Hurry up, Ranger!" he whispered loudly and slowed to a stop behind the grunts.

(OOC: What's up Zapdos. :) )

Scott watched as a third Cipher peon got out of the truck and joined the other two. The three of them walked past him and headed back toward New Bark Town. Scott waited a moment and called Elm.
"This is Professor Elm's lab. Professor Elm speaking," Elm said.
"Elm, get out of there! Three Cipher peons are heading your way! I'm not sure what they want with you, but they are after you!" Scott said. Elm paused a moment.
"Alright. I'm leaving. Thank you Scott," Elm said. He hung up the phone. Scott hadn't even had a chance to ask why they were after him. He decided to go back and find out. Celes whined. She had wanted to go say hello to that Trapinch, the only pokemon that was out. Scott didn't feel like telling her that odds were that she would soon be battling him. Scott crept off after the peons, making sure he was quiet and out of sight as they made their way to New Bark Town.

(OOC: So, who's watching who now?)

(If I ever call my character something else, let me know. I have three RP characters including this one, all whihc have names starting with A)

"Someone's following us," Ranger told Aston. "Well, maybe they'll help Elm before these grunts can get to 'im," Aston whispered back. "What was that?" One of he grunts glared at Aston, "Oh nothing. I was just thinkng about how fun it will be when we kidnap a renowned scientist. I wonder how much attention that won't attract," Aston rolled his eyes, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Don't use that tone with me, kid," the grunt advanced towards Aston, but Ranger moved in front of him, growling. "Call your guard ant off," the grunt ordered. "Why? So I can punch your face without having him restrain me? Yea, I don't think so." The grunt cursed under his breath and went back to the other one. Aston stood next to them and watched as Elm left his lab with a few pokemon guarding him. Aston sighed in relief when he saw that the pokemon were considerably stronger than Ranger or any of the grunts pokemon. "Okay, I've got a plan. I'll go distract the guards, you two grab him and put him in the back of the truck," one of the grunts said. She sent out her pawniard, making it attack the guard pokemon, which were two Typlosion. She ran at them also, luring the fire types away. "I can't believe that worked!" the remaining grunt said happily. "I can''t believe that worked," Aston was less enthusiastic about it. The grunt ran out towards Elm, tackling him. Aston didn't feel the desire to help him, and watched from afar. For such an old man, Elm put up a good fight, Aston could tell because the grunt looked up with a black eye, a busted lip and a bleeding nose. "Come and help me, you idiot!" The grunt shouted. "Nope, I don't think I will, because , well, you know, I don't want to!" Aston called back, "He's a senile old man, and you're losing a wrestling match with him, you're the pathetic one!"

Scott walked confidently into New Bark Town after one peon had distracted Elm's Typhlosions and the other was attacking Elm. Celes trotted by his side.
"Eevee!" she said, causing the two to stop struggling for a moment.
"So, this is how Cipher makes it living? Attacking helpless people that can't take care of themselves? You disgust me," Scott said irritatedly.
"You think you're so smart you little brat! You, take him out!" the peon that was holding Elm ordered the one with the Trapinch. Scott looked him over.
"Well, you think you've got what it takes to mess with me?" Scott challenged recklessly. Celes stood by his side and glared at the two peons. Scott wondered if either of them had a spine. He wanted to take them out.

"Oh, come on, ass hole, let the weak grunt do what he wants, Elm would wind up beating him anyways." Aston taunted, then heard the challenge, "Ranger, show 'em how to rrally fight! Earthquake!" Aston ordered. "Are you sure that that's a good idea? Fine, sorry little eevee, but your trainer is the one who challenged Aston," Ranger apologized and reared up and came down, stomping the ground, causing a small fissure to open up. Aston had learned to time when the attack would start and spread his legs wide, putting one hand on the ground so he wouldn't fall over. When the attak ended, he stared at the other trainer, "So, I heard you like eevee's? Well, so do I... For dinner!" Ranger shook his head. He felt bad his trainer acted that way and apologized to the eevee again, "He's just messing around, he's just messing with your trainer-" Ranger was cut off by Aston, who ordered another attack, "Signal beam, now!" Ranger did as he was told and launched the diamond shaped attack beam.

Nique smiled as the spray of the sea brushed her face, placing her in a state of carefree (and rather quite salty) ecstasy. She took anther sip of her root beer as her other hand secured itself on her hip. Mailko placed the tiny stubs he claims are hands together and looked down towards the ground as he twirled them around each other. This boat wasn't exactly the most ideal place for him. The bustling people, the sea in every direction, and the occasional rocking of the boat.... oh dear goodness the freaking rocking of the damn boat.... the tiny Larvitar had a spasm out every time the boat twitched to one side for even a fraction of a second. He felt uneasy. But he always felt uneasy, so that shouldn't be something to be too concerned about.

Emptying her bottle of all its sugary contents, she took one look at the bottle, and threw it into the ocean. Meh, it's the water-types' problem now. The girl took a glimpse at her tiny dinosaur-thing. What a sigh she beheld; one day Mailko was going to be a great and fiery Tyranitar, but right now he was sitting down, slouched on the ship near her feet, quietly crying to himself because he was afraid of everything. But, the Larvitar's panophobia was organized, and he was at least scared of one thing in particular at each given moment. Wonder what's he afraid of today? Nique bent on her knees and stared at her green Pocket Monster. He didn't notice her as she stared intensely at him, trying to connect with his thoughts.

"I don't wanna be stolen.... I don't wanna be stolen.... I want to stay with my mommy. I don't want to be taken to be someone's slave. I don't want to be taken to be killed. All these people with their grubby hands lookin' at me. I only want my mommy. Please. I don't wanna be stolen.... I don't wanna be stolen...."

"Hey, Mailko. Look at me, kiddo." Nique said. The Larvitar raised his head in surprise, not suspecting its mommy to be right in front of him. "No one is going to steal you. And if they do, I'll kick their dumb ass right off board, alright?" A small grin stretched across the green dinosaur's face.

"She does really love me...." he thought happily.

"Nah, I'd say our relationship is more I-use-you-to-win-battles-and-such and you-love-me-for-some-reason." After smiling at him, she stood back up to see an interesting yellow fin circling around where the bottle she threw was floating. A Carvanha had found it and thought it was some new type of prey. Neat. "Oh," Nique said, realizing she forgot something. She tilted her head towards the Larvitar below her. "And I'm not your mother. Quit calling me that, okay? Tch. You're such a softie. Too cute." She said lovingly.

Mailko below her looked up at the girl with a huge, displeased frown. She.... she was kidding, right? Right then, Nique witnessed the Carvanha pounce on the bottle, taking two rapid consecutive bites before realizing the great deal of pain it was now in. Blood from the huge cuts poured generously out into the water around it and the fish spat out even more as it tried unsuccessfully to somehow get the brown shards of glass out of its mouth. Its helpless reaction to facing its mistake was all too fascinating to the girl observing. Weird- how was it, that a Carvanha, if it had enough levels under its belt, survive having a Grass-Type suck up all the vital fluids from its body during battle, but that the same deadly Carvanha starts bleeding out and dieing once it bites down on some simple glass? Just strange. Fun to watch though.

"She's only joking. She loves me with all her heart. I know this. I know this...." Mailko thought.

"No, I don't, silly billy." Nique chuckled as she heard him in her head. Tears started flooding in the Larvitar's eyes. Even if they were just jokes to him, they were hurting his feelings. Suddenly, more Carvanha circled the original Carvanha. Nique leaned forward and watched avidly. This was unexpected! The original fish started to freak out watching the tables turn on it. The other Carvanha, all at once, rapidly swam or jumped towards the bleeding fish, and started ripping up the poor thing's body to shreds. The lobs of flesh that flew off in the air we quickly gobbled up by the younger members of the group that swam on the outskirts of the murder.

"Woah," Nique whispered. "That was awesome!" she jumped a little in excitement as she cheered, sending the Larvitar next to her feet into panicked shock. The tiny dinosaur ran away crying hysterically. Whatever. He'd be back. But did you see that?! They killed one of their own kind because they smelled blood!....Or did they? You can't base a fact on only one shred of evidence. Nique needed to know if this was entirely true.

"Hey, does anyone have a Water-Type on board?" she called.

"I do!" Said a little girl with ribbons in her hair as she scurried towards Nique. "Do you wanna battle, Mister?"

"Actually tiny person," Nique started, "Can I just see your Water-Type for a sec? I want to test something out."

"Sure thing!" The little girl took a shiny red ball out of her pocket. "Go, Sandy-Bandy!" she exclaimed as the red ball shot out with red light and released a flopping Goldeen.

"Hm! She will do perfect! Do you mind if I put her in the ocean?"

"Absolutely not! She loves swimming!"

And with that, Nique scooped up the Goldeen and plopped it in the sea. It swam beautifully in the water, twirling and pulling off dazzling moves. Not a single Carvanha that noticed it went over to have dessert.

"Call her back, will you?" Nique asked,

"Oh! I won't have to! She can jump, like, super high!" The girl said as she ran off the side of the boat. "Sandy-Bandy! Jump up to me, cutie!" The Goldeen jumped high in the air and landed back into the vessel. The girl hugged her goldfish Pokemon as it smiled back to her. How cute!

"Can I see her once more, please? Almost done." Nique requested.

"Yay! We have a playmate, Sandy-Bandy!" The girl held out her Goldeen again towards Nique. The teen happily picked up the fish and smiled at the kid. Nique cuddled the fish into one arm as she pulled out the Swiss army knife from her pocket. Equipping out the actual blade, Nique stuck it slightly into the fish and pulled down. The fish squirmed and blabbed in pain as she did so. After a small but well-bleeding cut was made, Nique wiped off the knife on the fish and put it back in her pocket. She threw the Goldeen into the sea once more.

"Wh-What did you just do?" The little girl asked worryingly.

"You'll see!" Nique enthusiastically said as she looked down the side of the boat. The Goldeen swam perfectly fine with its cut as the red substance flowed from it. Not too long after, several Carvanha came and surrounded it. The bleeding goldfish was confused and bewildered as they pounced and feasted once more. Hearing all the loud noises, the little girl asked what they were about.

"Hm? Oh, your Goldeen is being eaten as we speak." Nique answered.

"W hat?! Is she okay?!" the tiny tot asked, frightened.

"Heh, no." Nique chortled. "Things don't just get out 'okay' when they're being killed, silly. Oh, you kids and your naivety." Nique bent and saw the girl beginning to ball her eyes out. "Sweetie, it's okay! She died in the name of science. What's more admirable then a for-science death? Uh, nothing! That's an awesome sacrifice! And now, you and I both know for sure that Carvanha swarm when they smell blood and blindly attack the source for sustenance."

The young woman patted the girl on the shoulder in reassurance before she stood up and started to stroll away. Where did Mailko go off to? The little girl's distraught sobs could be heard loudly in her wake.

----

Nique took a deep breath and threw her arms in both directions as if to hug somebody. Mailko stared at her in confusion and fear.

"Aaaaahhhhh," she sighed. "What a gorgeous day! Don't you think so, Mailko?"

"Larvi," he replied. He didn't like it, of course. The two were facing Route One, a beautiful path with shrubs as far as the eye could see. The Larvitar was filled his usual angst as he imagined scenarios were his mommy was pounced by a huge monster and killed. And he'd be next! Oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no....

Nique lightly kicked her Pokemon on the back. "Lighten up, will ya? We're here at the start of our journey! You should be happy!" The tiny monster gave out a shrill whimper and Nique rolled her eyes.

"Let's so find you some friends. Morris is not going to be easy to fight with just you. Now...."

Celes leapt up and the Earthquake went harmlessly by her. She landed and was hit by the Signal Beam. She jumped back to her feet. Scott glanced worriedly at her, but she seemed fine.
"Shadow Ball! Then use Tackle!" Scott said with a smirk. Celes blasted a large glowing purple ball at the Trapinch and charged at him.
"Hmph, can't think of anything intelligent to say, Cipher peon? Man, they must really be getting lax if they hired wimps like you," Scott said, half to himself. Celes, whether she hit with Tackle or not, activated Detect. She would not get hit, no matter what this fool threw at him. Scott also kept his eye on the peon with Elm, who had started to struggle again.

The earthquake missed, but the signal beam not so much. It landed it's direct hit, but the eevee countered with shadow ball and tackle. After that, the eevee set up a detect. "You're not the only one with defensive moves, idiot! Ranger, protect, when it's detect goes down, use bite!" The sturdy little trapinch held on to the protect until the eevee's detect went down, as ordered, and charge for the eevee, grabbing the little pokemon in his big mouth. "And guess, what? If you have another pokemon, it won't matter because of Arena Trap!" Aston jabbed. "Just keep using bite and protect, make sure only to attack when a detect goes down, then set up your own protect," Aston said, this time quiet enough that only Ranger and possibly the eevee could hear.

(OOC: I'm going to let you off on godmodding Celes with a warning this time. You shouldn't say whether an attack hit or not. Just describe what your pokemon does, and then let the other person say whether it worked. Please try to remember that in the future.)

"I know about Arena Trap you moron. Honestly, First Elm manhandles that fool, and then you try and fight me. You really are an idiot!" Scott said, unconcerned as the Trapinch scooped up Celes, who began firing Shadow Balls down his throat. He could Protect all he wanted. It didn't protect from things already inside the shield it made. Like Celes when she was being chomped on by the Trapinch. Really, what was he thinking? Celes blasted as many Shadow Balls as she could before she finally pried herself out of the Trapinch's mouth and ran back a few feet. She shook herself off. That had hurt, but Scott was willing to bet his little Celes had done a lot more damage to him.
"Oof!" the other peon grunted as Elm kicked him where no man should ever be kicked. Elm ran over and stood behind Scott, who looked at him oddly. Wasn't he the adult here? Shouldn't he be the one protecting Scott, and not the other way around? Whatever. Scott was glad Elm was a bit of a wuss.
"Well, looks like your plans for Elm have been ruined. Because there's no way you're getting past me!" Scott snarled. Celes growled fiercely at them.
"Sand Attack!" Scott yelled. Celes blasted a ton of sand at Trapinch, and Scott hoped this would work well. But he smiled confidently. Even if it didn't, he still had the upper hand.

(Thanks Nideous for covering that. I'll let this go because we're just starting the RP.)

By Celebi, what was she doing here?

Naren had been thinking that for the past five minutes as she walked toward the Pokemon Gym for Azalea. Bugsy was there, waiting for her like he said he would be. She clenched her small fists, fear making her ill. What was she thinking? She was no trainer! Heck, she had barely managed with Elisha. Maybe she would just go home. Yeah, go home to an empty house or her mother's sneer. Her shoulders trembled at the thought. Naren stopped walking and looked down, clenching her fists and trying to avoid crying in public. She did not want that stain on her reputation; it already had enough. Elisha, her Cyndaquil, looked up from sniffing the road to stare at her sightlessly, worriedly.

"'m okay," she mumbled, her slightly drawling voice unconsciously sounding soothing and calm, when she was the exact opposite. "'S all right." She never spoke properly, like a good little lady. Mama always yelled at her for it. She couldn't help it. It wasn't how she heard many people speak. Shaking her head, she began to step forward again, walking toward the building. She had bought her supplies just a few moments ago, a couple potions and Pokeballs. She doubted it would actually make a difference. Inevitably, she was going to lose no matter what Pokemon he used.

Looking around, the sunflower girl saw the comforting emotions of everyone around her. She had grown up around them all her life. COuld she just leave? Maybe her mother was right and she was crazy.

Dismal thoughts aside, Naren had made it all the way to the looming Gym. She already knew how it would look on the inside; like someone had taken Ilex and cloned its nature with a battlefield. Naren stepped forward timidly, quickly shuffling to the challenger's box. That was enough of an introduction for she saw the lilac-haired man step forward on the other side, clutching his net casually in one hand. He smiled at her, as though this were merely the classroom and she was being called up to demonstrate.

"You went through with it," he began quietly.

"Mama won't miss me." It slipped out before she could stop it, clutching at her mouth with frightened eyes. She could have heard that. Elisha made a strange crying noise, something her ears told her was to relax. She did not speak Pokemon but she knew feelings well enough. Besides she could see it all over her Pokemon's aura in a vivid green, just like she could see the white of Bugsy. "I want... to try and get stronger... for Papa and for me."

For a moment, she saw the man's aura flicker burnt orange, pride. Was he proud of her? He had taught her for years so she guessed it made sense. Naren didn't know for sure but she guessed the man was smiling. He held out a Pokeball and smiled. "A one-on-one?"

"Yes sir," she agreed softly. Naren hadn't gone to catch anymore Pokemon. None, not even the Slowpoke, would have done any good against Bugsy. She had to hope Elisha was strong enough to win.

"It's too bad it's too soon for you to face Heracross," he mused. "But oh well. We'll save that for next time. It's time for your graduation exam Naren!" His aura turned yellow, excited. "Go Beedrill!" The large bee exited his Pokeball, buzzing at her as it moved. Naren flinched and tensed. Elisha let out a soft yelp of surprise, then glanced at Naren for approval. Easing herself, the girl nodded and Elisha trooped out on all fours, growling. Beedrill was unaffected and charged unhesitatingly at his opponene, needles ready for a Fury Attack.

Naren froze a moment and thought. Then she nodded. "Wild Charge!" Cyndaquil's whole body began to spark with electricity. She charged forward, dodging the needles and slamming into the bug's body. Elisha fell back, wincing. Electricity was not her forte. Beedrill winced and attacked ferociously, his Poison Point trying to get her.

Bugsy's emotions didn't change. He had seen that move before. But Naren was not a fool. She wasn't good at much of anything, as far as she's concerned, but no one, not even her mother, could call her unintelligent. She knew her strategies well. Elisha rolled back by Naren's feet. She got up and ran again. As the pair charged a second time, Beedrill stung her with poisonous needles. Elisha shook it off and released and Ember. Beedrill blocked most of the flames with his two needles but he was still burned. Beedrill buzzed angrily and fired another spray of poisoned needles. Elisha screeched in pain as she hit the ground. She twitched, the poison beginning to seep into her veins.

Naren's expression tightened. "Elisha! Please don't give up! I... I don't want us to lose."

"Stay calm,"Bugsy stated quietly. "Watch." As he spoke, her Cyndaquil began to rise to her paws weakly. She then got to her back paws and appeared to roar. She ran forward blindly a rainbow energy bursting from her body. This time, alarm flashed all through the Gym Leader. "What-?"

"Extrasensory," Naren informed him softly. "It's really effective against Beedrill because it's part Poison. But... it's not enough." Elisha hit the ground again as Beedrill battered her with needles over and over. Elisha screeched and stayed standing. She charged with electricity, only to get hit by a Fury Attack directly. Elisha hit the wall. "No..." Naren whispered. They had been winning; they had had a chance... Then Elisha's body began to glow red. She weakly raised her head as Beedrill fired a Poison Sting, releasing a powerful Ember. The attacks hit at the same time, making a burst of smoke. Naren coughed and covered her mouth. It revealed a battlefield with two down Pokemon. There had been no referee: Bugsy was good at this by now.

"A tie," he told her quietly, stepping forward to return Beedrill. Naren, knowing the battle was over, ran to get her unconscious Cyndaquil. She hugged the limp body tightly.

"You were great," she whispered softly. "So strong." She figured it was over, that this was the end. However, the young man stepped up to her and held up a metal badge that looked like a ladybug. She didn't take it, confused. "But why? A tie is a loss."

"Normally you're right," he agreed. "But... you did well. And I wasn't looking for a win." He placed it in her hand. "I was looking for a strong spirit. And you have that, or you will." Bugsy patted her shoulder. "Go out there and shine again. You won't have it so easily next time." Naren managed a timid nod and bow as she left the Gym. She was in shock. It would take a while to get out of that.

~~

The boy exited the small motel in Cerulean. At his side, a Pokemon glanced up. It was a Pikachu, but it stail was scarred, the brown marking a llighter shade. The boy's hair was silvery-blonde and his deep green eyes pierced the air he looked at. He sighed, the sound light and solemn.

'Master?' PIkachu tilted his head. He was curious, but that was all. The boy didn't react. 'Master Ceric?'

"What?" he mumbled, his expression unchanged.

'You're staring off.'

"It's nothing. Let's go." HE headed toward the Route ahead, his partner at his heels. He wondered if this was what he was looking for. Cipher promised his memory. They would give it to him.

Or he would slaughter them all one by one, simple as that.

(Mystery character! And Naren means sunflower.)

(yea, sorry, shouldn't have done that )

"Keep in there, Ranger!" Aston said, concerned for his pokemon. "Maybe bite wasn't such a good idea, but still, all you have is an eevee, basic, weak, pathetic little pokemon. Whereas I have Ranger, King of the desert in his final stage! Not even a vaporeob would be able to beat him! Ranger, Keep it down with a signal beam and then hit it with an earthquake!" Ranger couldn't help but agree, was never one to hold a grudge, but those shadow balls hurt. A lot. Aston's words uplifted the dark red trapinch, and he fired the signal beam, followed up with the earthquake and waited to see what had happened.

(OOC: You never saids whether Celes's Sand Attack hit, so I'm going to assume it did.)

Scott smirked as Celes simply looked at the beam that hit the ground just behind her. She activated Detect again, and jumped at just the right moment, dodging the Earthquake.
"That may be true, but he isn't in his final form. All you've got is a trapinch. And I must say you need a little work as a trainer. You and your pokemon have shoddy teamwork at best. After all, my basic, weak, pathetic little Eevee is kicking your tail! Celes, use Tackle, then when his Protect goes down, hit him with Shadow Ball!" Scott said, having easily figured out this peon's strategy. Before she could attack she was hit from the side by a Houndour's Flamethrower. Scott looked angrily at the peon that had recovered and sent out his Houndour. The first peon turned to the one Scott was destroying.
"Sorry kid, but I'm not going to let your failure bring me down! We can take him. After all, he's only got the one pokemon!" the peon said. Scott rolled his eyes. Typical freaks. When the fight turns against them, they pull crap like this. Though it might work. Celes was hurt, and that had not helped her at all. Scott turned to Elm.
"You got any pokemon?" he whispered urgently.
"Well, I have one, but there's a problem. He's-" Elm began.
"I don't care! I need him! Celes can't fight them both! Even if he's just another target to hit, that will give Celes a chance! Give him to me!" Scott said. Elm examined him a moment and handed him the pokeball. Scott called out the pokemon.
"Gible!" he shouted with glee.
"Vee!" Celes said with a low groan. Gible looked at her and pulled her into a hug.
"Now, let's see how tough you are," Scott said as Gible released Celes. He activated his Scouter. What the crap?!
"What do you mean he's only level five!" Scott whispered as he tapped on the Scouter. He shook his head. He looked at the Cipher peons with a smirk.
"Bring then, both of you! I'll take you both out!" Scott said confidently.
"Vee!" Celes said as she adopted a more confident stance.
"Gible!" Gible cried as he mimiced her.
"Right, Celes, use Shadow Ball on the Trapinch. Gible, use Sand Attack on the Houndour!" Scott said. Celes blasted a Shadow Ball at Trapinch, while Gible began spraying sand at Houndour, blinding him slightly.

(OOC: You can control the other peon if you would like. I've been planning this since my intro post. :) )

(*goes back and reads other posts* actually, I didn't godmod, you said that signal beam hit. Mine was a follow up post. I'm still in the clear)

The signal beam missed as well as the earthquake, Aston was getting angry, which meant he was goin to be reckless. "Calm down," Ranger panted, "We can still do this," the other kid sent out another pokemon, a gible, who seemed to be a push over. His fellow grunt also sent out his houndour, joining the fight. "Okay, Ranger, we've got the the gible, let the houndour take what's left of the eevee," before they could take action, the eevee launched a shadow ball, which Ranger barely dodged. "Use signal beam again, forget the gible, it shouldn't pose too much of a threat, follow up with a protect, then bite!" The grunt joined in, shouting an order to his houndour, taking the hit that the eevee should faint first. "Houndour, ember, then pursuit!"

(OOC: "The sturdy little trapinch held on to the protect until the eevee's detect went down, as ordered, and charge for the eevee, grabbing the little pokemon in his big mouth." That's what I was refering to. You never gave me a chance to react to your bite.)

"What's the matter? Can't make up your mind?" Scott mocked as the third peon debated which one of his pokemon to attack.
"Celes, use Tackle on the Houndour. Gible, you too!" Scott said. The Houndour fired Ember at Celes then charged at her with Pursuit. Celes was blasted by the fire, but she meowed furiously and leapt aside, watching as the stupid Houndour was hit with the Singal beam. Those two really needed to work on their team work if they wanted to win. But Scott wasn't going to let that happen. Celes completely ignored the Trapinch and rammed into the Houndour, sending him back a few feet. Gible did the same and Houndour fell to the ground. He was back up soon enough. Celes was also bitten on the rear by the Trapinch. She cried out in pain as she was lifted off the ground. She turned and fired a Shadow Ball at the Trapinch.
"Now, Gible use Tackle on Trapinch to make him drop Celes. Celes, you use Detect to take care of whatever is coming your way. Then follow up with Tackle on the Houndour," Scott said. Gilbe charged at Trapinch while Celes's eyes glowed white.

Ugh. He had to change his outfit into this stuffy Peon suit for a mission, just to get left behind. "These people are serious jerks to the new guys," Geoff told himself as he walked down Route 29 with his partner, Absol. They were supposed to go on an assignment to get Professor Elm from his lab, but that was just plain rude to leave them behind like that. Though, maybe it wasn't a bad thing that they were abandoned. Halfway to New Bark Town from Cherrygrove, both Geoff and Absol could hear Pokémon cries. Either his grunt buddies were doing well, or they were getting their cans kicked. So, Geoff and Absol did exactly what any bystander in their right mind should do: Hide behind a tree and spectate without the fighters noticing.

"Hm." It's all Geoff said. Not really "said", but you get the point. The rest was just thinking thoughts that Absol could understand and respond to. It looks like the others aren't doing too well. Absol noticed Aston's Pokémon, a Trapinch, out of the rest. Geoff hasn't seen it before, and Absol could tell something was wrong with it. It was too heartless with its attacks. Neither wanted to draw attention to themselves, so Absol only spoke through thought like his trainer.

That Trapinch. It's looks like if it saw us it would bite us just to bite us.

Maybe so, Geoff answered. But it looks like it's pretty dang occupied right now. And that kid against them.... He's using two Pokémon. He must be a decent trainer, then. We shouldn't get involved. Taking a step farther behind the tree, Geoff took one grab of the clothing around his back and spun, twisting the Cipher-standard suit off like a cape and replacing it with a T-shirt, hoodie and cargo pants before going back to watch the fight unfold. Let's report back afterwards.

"Celes, use Tackle on the Houndour. Gible, you too!" The young man commanding two Pokémon spoke. He had an Eevee and Gible, and the Gible definitely looked new to the battling scene. It looked good to go, though, so it must have been at full strength. Nothing funnier than watching karma take its course. One of the grunts had to watch their Houndour get hit with a Signal Beam dead-center while it was trying to bite Eevee. Geoffrey really wanted to point and laugh, but he decided against it to keep a low profile. He's definitely going to be reporting THIS back. Maybe they'll cut him some slack for the scoop instead of lashing out for not helping his Cipher buddies. Just a little past "soon enough", Geoff almost busted a gut watching Aston's Trapinch munch on the Eevee's tail end! He had to bite his tongue to keep from rolling in the grass laughing, and Absol looked ready to explode from holding his own laughter in.

(ah, that.)

The eevee's shadow ball hit Ranger right underneath the chin, forcing Ranger to let go. "Come on, bud, hold up!" Aston was really worried now, one more good hit like that and Ranger was through. "I can handle this," Ranger replied. "If only I had another pokemon you wouldn't have to do this. Okay as* hole, you're in for it now! Ranger, throw goble to the ground with bite, don't give it time to attack, then earthquake the hell out of 'em!" the other grunt didn't seem as worried, the bug type move didn't do much to the houndour, "Use flamewheel on the eevee, this little punk is gonna get what he asked for!"

Scott smirked as Celes dodged out of the way of the Flamewheel. Her Detect was really something else. That peon with the Trapinch might have some skill, but the other one was a complete waste of space. This was far too easy. Celes bounded away and Scott laughed at them openly.
"Come on Cipher runts! Can't you do better than this?" Scott said mockingly. Gible was thrown to the ground and hit with Earthquake before he could get up. Celes, who had still had detect activated, simply jumped over the shaking ground. Gible got painfully to his feet. The little dragon wouldn't last too much longer in this fight. But the Trapinch, Houndour, and Celes were in equally bad shape.
"Come on you guys! You can do this! Celes! Tackle that Trapinch. Gible, Tackle the Houndour! Celes, if he uses Protect, wait until he drops it and hit him with a Shadow Ball!" Scott whispered. Celes beamed at his faith in her, and Gible was happy too. He charged at Houndour, but not with Tackle. His head began glowing a silver color as he charged at the dog.
"So, Gible finally mastered Iron Head! I must say I'm very proud of him!" Elm said from behind Scott. Scott raised his eyebrows but said nothing. He watched as Gible rushed quickly at the dog, while Celes did the same thing toward Trapinch.

Aston heard the other boys order, and tried to take advantage, "Ranger get out of the way, earthquake again!" the trapinch just scraped by again, the tackle hitting his rump and causing him to spin a little. "I can't take too much more," Ranger was breathing very heavily. "I know, I know, I'm sorry, but we'll fight until one of us has lost, now use earthquake!" the other grunt followed up with his orders, "Flame wheel again on the gible, and then use crunch on eevee!"

(OOC: You mean Bite. Houndour is only like level eight. I'm pretty sure it doesn't learn Crunch for a long time.)

Celes climbed up on top of the Trapinch where she was safe from the Earthquake. She jumped off when it was done and Scott grinned happily at her. Gible's Iron Head collided with Houndour's Flame Wheel, and both of them got hit by the Earthquake, knocking them out. The cipher peon swore angrily and returned his pokemon. Scott called back Gible.
"Good job. You knocked out your buddy. How does it feel to have taken out the only thing that possibly could have let you win?" Scott said. He looked at the peon that was still fighting him. Scott glanced at Celes. She was tired, hurting, and bleeding from a few of those bites, but she growled fiercely at Trapinch. There was no way she was going down! She was going to protect Scott with her life if she had too!
"Celes, use Shadow Ball, then follow it up with Detect, and finish him with Tackle," Scott whispered so that only she could hear him. She blasted a Shadow Ball at the Trapinch, then her eyes started glowing white as she got ready for the counter attack Scott knew was coming.

Ranger dodged the tackle, but too late. It hit him square in the side. The trapinch prepared for one final signal beam, but the eevee protected itself, making Rangers last stand pointless. The maroon trapinch fell over, eyes closed. "Ah! Ranger!" Aston ran to his pokemon and picked him up, not bothering with a pokeball. "Good fight," Aston felt the need to compliment the other trainer. "We'll put you in your place next time though!" he ran off, followed by the other grunts, one of which had just come back from her distraction. Aston carried Ranger all the way back to the truck and grabbed a revive out of the glove compartment.
