5th Gen Pokemon coming to McDonalds outside of Japan.

I'm so happy, a friend of mine works at McDonalds and got all of them for me! So excited to add the cards to my TCG collection ^.^ First event cards since the First Movie Premiere cards

Technically, yes. But they just get giant boxes of toys and they empty then into the bin, so they usually don't have more than one or two of the toys at a time. So if you're looking for all of them, you should be prepared to either go to multiple places or go to the same place once every couple days. We went three days ago and my sister got Reshiram, and today she got Oshawott because they just came in today.

Oshawott is extra cute, by the way.
Thanks, I'll check it out again. Good thing there's a McDonald's at the metro station I go to everyday. Second time to look silly! :D

I just got an Oshawott today ^^. I really want Snivy and Reshiram though...guess I'll have to go back again.

Just went there today and they had Reshiram and Pikachu, so it would probably be easy for you to pick one up. Got a Reshiram to go with my Zekrom, the card (Audino) was indeed in French and no one else wanted it so I just tossed it. I hate French cards. At least it's good to know that the boosters/starters sold everywhere are still in English (except at a few specialty stores), so the few people who prefer French cards aren't getting the better deal here :P

It looks a bit weird and fish-faced, but it's a steal at $2 and a pretty cool figure overall. I personally also appreciate that it looks like they made Zekrom BLACK instead of dark gray like most of his merchandise (the only other truly black Zekrom toy I know of is the Pokepla model kit), though I don't have the toy with me yet so I can't confirm.

Gonna report on Zekrom tomorrow, when my mom and sister come back.

Lol you're a stalker! xD Mind to remove the city name? Anyway, I went there and got the same figures: Pika and Reshiram. I'll go to the other McDo 5 mins away and hope to find the others. It's true 2$ is not cheap for McDo toys, but I got the money so whatever, I just want them.

K sry, it's just the only station I know that has a McD in it, and a pretty big one at that, and that I go there twice a week to get to school :P (The name's in your quote of my post too, you might want to remove the same line)

Nah, I meant that $2 for the figure is a good deal. The quality's quite good for a fast food toy :)

I just went today and bought Pikachu and Reshiram. These were the only two they had. It's funny because the cashier asked me if the toy I wanted was for a boy or a girl. I was like... "whatever I want both". Since when is Pikachu more feminine than Reshiram or vice-versa? XD So weird haha!

For those Quebecers, yes, the cards are in French with the French names. It sucks! I even sent a commentary to Nintendo Canada, but I received an Internal Server Error ¬_¬...

I'm surprised Zekrom is available! I thought 2 were released each week.

There's always eBay, which I'd be hitting right now if the promos included rare/powerful Pokemon such as the ability starters (and they don't). I'm guessing it might be McDonald's that has a policy to always do Quebec promotions in French, I'm not sure of Nintendo's stance on French Pokemon games and cards (their Crown Beasts promo was for English games only despite promotional materials for it still being in French, and there's also most cards in Quebec being in English probably because of poor sales of Gen I French cards). Well, McDonald's promos are aimed towards small kids anyway, and a lot of Quebec kids can't read or understand English, so maybe it's better for them. But can you believe it?! Back in the 90's they had a Disney promotion where they had small figures attached to vehicles that looked like videotape boxes, and they took care to make sure that every sticker label on the "boxes" was in French even though the only writing was basically the Disney movie title and "Masterpiece Collection" >.<

The French names really aren't too popular around here. If someone who speaks French has a French Charizard card they'd usually refer to it as "Charizard francais" rather than "Dracaufeu".

I hear other places are doing the toys in a fairly random order, not always starting with the Reshiram and Pikachu wave. Some people (other than my sister) say that they already got Zekrom :) And yeah, he's pretty much the only outright "masculine" Pokemon in the entire set, Reshiram still has his ladylike design even though he has a male voice, which makes him the dragon equivalent of a bishonen I guess :P

Thanks for removing the location ;). Well, I as I said, I wrote to Nintendo about the French names. I told them it'd be better if they used the English names on French cards. It wouldn't cause any trouble with the law since names are not in a certain language per se... I wish it had been made like that. After all, when the anime still aired in French the names were in English.

Story time~ since i am a McDs employee lolz

One boy came in the other day asking for Sandile and my manager was frantically like "I dont know what a Sandile is....here we have this white dragon thing and this yellow hamster like creature." The mother explained he already had those two toys so the boy still demanded a Sandile xD so she gave up and asked the crew does anybody know anything about these toys that can help this boy out. I slowly raised my hand and told her what a Sandile looks like, so she went to the back and grabbed the collectors box(which actually had every toy in it). I had to look through the toy chart and OMG there was no Sandile toy :|. What he wanted in the end was Snivy because thats what the he pointed to on the chart xD. But yeah I felt like an incredible nerd that day but she thanked me for the help.

I actually really like the Reshiram toy myself as well as Snivy and Oshawott but im not a collector and have no need for the toys so meh. Its funny just to sit back and watch a group of teenagers ordering happy meals just for the toys XD. Oh and yeah Ive noticed that McDs only carry like two toys at a time cuz for last week there were only boxes of Reshiram/Pikachu toys sadly. Not allowed to actually sell anything in the collectors box unless its for collectors...or whiny children lol.

What I find interesting was that Reshiram and Pikachu were first for the place my family works too...I wonder if that's intentional.

Anyway, to add to your Sandile/Snivy story, my sister came home from work a few days ago saying "I got Bidoof!" I was like "...what?" She meant Oshawott. xD;;

No prob :)

I bet a lot of fans are ticked off for the same reason - it was the Quebecois dub of the anime that probably started the whole thing. But I bet as it is, if they broadcasted Pokemon in French in Quebec again, they'd just import the Best Wishes dub from France, pretend that Ash was always called "Sacha", and bring the whole business full circle (since there's no need to keep the English names anymore for marketing). Imagine if they had a Kanto toy McDonald's promotion next year or something - the new BW Pokémon are bad enough, but it would be a pretty big slap in the face for a lot of nostalgic Francophone fans if they get a Bulbasaur toy that says "Bulbizarre" on the polybag with the French text and comes with a French "Roucool" (Pidgey) card >.<

On a related note, a RSEmake (as mentioned above) or Kanto toy promotion would be awesome if they decided to "expand" the Pokémon collection like with the Beanie Babies and Neopets promotions. I could imagine one with the Kanto starters, Mewtwo, Mew, Victini shoehorned in, and maybe Pikachu again and/or Charizard, it'll be Burger King 1999 all over again. Nostalgia FTW ;)

Oh yeah, btw Swoobat's French name is Rhinolove. (Click the link, second row, first and second columns...)

Yeah, Reshiram and Pikachu are supposed to be the first wave of toys, but some McD's are breaking the pattern (the one in the Toronto, for example, which is having the Zekrom and Tepig wave).

Really? Bidoof? It's that well-known? Heh, when I called up the Toronto location they mistook Tepig for Pikachu, seems like Pika's not the only one that has people mistaking other Pokémon for it. Lucky Bidoof :P

My sister actually plays Pokemon, she got it for herself (and promptly went on vacation for an indefinite amount of time and left poor Oshawott here). She was like "the water beaver...?" probably because Bibarel is part Water, and she doesn't play B/W much, she just thinks it's cute. XDD

My mom keeps trying to describe one of them as a pony. She told me the "pony Pokemon" was in today...I know it's either Zorua or Zoroark based on the color scheme she mentioned, but idk which one looks more like a "pony" so I have no idea which one came in. Lmao ^^;

Okaaay since some of you are heading onto the topic of English and French names, there's an english (and other language) name discussion thread just for this purpose. :D Just keep this thread for discussion of the toys. :x And there tbh, you can go as detailed as you want about English, or French, or any names really. Because sure it was on-topic before, but I see this heading in an off-topic direction soon.

Yes, Bidoof is so derpy that you're bound to have its name and face engraved in your memories no matter how familiar you are with it. 8D

Probably Zoroark. It has a full mane and is more likely to be mistaken for a pony. Unless McD's is trolling us with a super-extra-secret-rare Keldeo toy that comes with a full-art Arceus for the card. :P

By the way, does anyone know how big the old 1999 Burger King toys are compared to these? I might get a light-up BK Mewtwo to join Resh and Zek (Charizard too, but he's impossible to find) ;)

EDIT: They didn't even have a Charizard. Ummmmm... what? They had Venusaur and Blastoise, and Charizard was waaaaaaay more popular :S

I visited 3 McDo's today! xD I found Zekrom and Tepig as well as Pika and Reshiram that I already had. They told me to come back tomorrow for new ones lol. This is annoying. One of the employees offered Liv dolls to me instead I was like, hugh no!

I just want to add about the French names that I don't hate them because of nostalgia, but because they're just freaking ugly to hear!

Well, I have a Burger King Vulpix plushie which is relatively big. It's about the size of 2/3 of a Kleenex box.

I haven't heard anyone getting Snivy - errr, Smugleaf - and Zorua yet, they're supposed to be the final wave...

Same here about the French names btw, I didn't even grow up with the series in French (was always an English-speaking frequent YTV watcher until YTV started sucking). But the truth is, most fans in Quebec, whether they speak French or English and whether for nostalgic or aesthetic reasons, hate the French names! Hopefully they won't be featuring things like the upcoming Kids figurine promo cards (which include things like Haxorus and Excadrill) in the next McD's set, otherwise people like us would have to get the toys/cards off eBay just to have them in English >.<

Hmmm, just like Charizard, it looks like Vulpix wasn't part of the BK promotion... maybe the one you have is probably from an even earlier KFC promotion. (Watch Colonel Sanders say "Poh-KAAAAAAAY-moan".)

Gaaaah I miss the 1999 BK toys already, it was like the best Pokémon fast-food promo of all (and ironically, I didn't even have a chance to get any of them >.<) Overall, though, I'd say this McDonald's promo is better than the two recent BK TCG promos (especially the very lame 2009 one), but not as good as the old-school BK promos (the Pokéballs with toys, the 3D "Power Cards" and the collectable Gameboys with cartridges and clear Pokémon figurines).

EDIT: Just got Zekrom, he came with a Klink. (The toy was from Toronto, so I kept the card since it was in English. It also came with all the included posters and flyers, including a code for the evil-looking McWorld online game). Like Reshiram, he's a bit off-model, but he's still a pretty cool figure and very good for his $2 pricepoint. :) Gonna use both of them as props for my Touya cosplay.

I honestly had no idea they were doing this and in my English class we were talking about how fast food advertises toys and such to get the kids to buy it which contributes to the obesity problem. :P And I was like one day, they will start putting in Pokemon cards to get kids to buy it. I go home after class and my little sister is holding a Pokemon card and I see A happy meal box on the table. I was like 0.o? She said she got it from McDonalds, I felt pretty good about how I "predicted" that would happen. :D

*sigh* I came back to the McDo's near the place I work at, and even though they had told me yesterday there would be new Pokés, only Zekrom was left. Funny stuff happened though. The employee was like "But Zekrom is the most powerful, you should get it!!" I was like "no, I got it already". Then he replied, "too bad you missed Pikachu last week" and I was like "no no I got it too" *geek moment*. Then a random dude came by and told me "Omg I'm catching them all! I want all the Pokemon!" and his friend pushed him. Then I just went shopping for clothes instead x3.

Nothing prevents you from getting the toys only ;).

Pretty cool that the employee actually knew something about Pokémon :) though it's puzzling why Tepig would sell out before Zekrom...

Personally I'm pretty happy with just Reshiram and Zekrom - not too big a fan of Pikachu, the first-stage starters and the Zoroark line. Though I do plan to collect all the Transformers 3 Burger King toys being sold concurrently, Bumblebee is waaaaaaaay cooler than Pika as a mascot/kid-appeal character IMO :)
