Okay guys, I am writing a nuzlocke comic called Chasing Legends which can be viewed on my deviant art under the username Plushie-Ninja.

In this comic, my trainer is reading a book aloud to her torchic, trying to gain some insight on the origins of Pokemon, and the Legendary Pokemon of Sinnoh themselves. So I know that Dialga is responsible for Time and Palkia is responsible for space. My theory is that Arceus used the help of Dialga and Palkia to create the Universe. But I'm not sure how Giratina would fit into this, as he is part of the Legendary Trio, and the master of Distortion.

Ultimately my question boils down to this: does anyone have any theories as to Giratina's role prior to being locked up in the Distortion world?

It would greatly help for writing my comic.

Giratina represents antimatter. Giratina and the Distortion World serve to balance out the universe, which is why its sometimes referred to as the "Reverse World". Many cultures and ideologies stress the importance of balance.

Personally, I don't think that Giratina was "locked up" in the Disortion World; I think it was sent there to guard it, because if something was to happen to the Distortion World, the Pokemon World would eventually fall apart, since it is supported by the existence of the Distortion World.

Hopefully this helps you out a bit.

This does help me out greatly. Thanks.
The only reason I thought Giratina was 'locked up' was because of its pokedex entry saying that it was banished for its violence. So perhaps it is trapped in the reverse world by some mystical power?

My theory is that Arceus used the help of Dialga and Palkia to create the Universe.

If Arceus is God, as in monotheistic religions, technicaly wouldnt Dialga and Palkia be creations of Arceus rather than being enlisted?

of course programing is a poor way to relate to this, but when creating a new "object", let's call it space, you would first need to write the Dimension statement, which means that the Space dimention would be present. if Arceus came after D&P, Wouldn't time and space already exist?

Huh, never thought of it that way. So you're saying that, if I understand this correctly, since Arceus came after D&P Arceus technically isn't 'god', since Palkia and Dialga had to have existed prior to him/it/whatever pronoun the thing prefers?

That's if Dialga/Palkia were not created by Arceus. Arceus would then basicaly be the "supreme commander" rather than a Deity
