Pokemon: Crimson Tide OOC
His breath caught in his throat as he moved through the base of operations for The Crimson Tide. Anywhere there was an open space to battle, at least two trainers were going at it, a resolute look in each of their eyes. They wanted to be something great, they wanted the respect that their superiors, and especially their leader, held. But despite that, the man could still pick out flaws in their battling style and choices, and could see where they trainers could use improvement.
However, as he was generally assigned out to the front, he didn't often seen the training camps, and the number of prospective trainers was swelling by the day, it seemed like. As the name of Crimson Tide grew, so too did the number of people that wished to join in its ranks. Kanto, their leader's home, as well as Johto and Sinnoh, were under their rule, and negotiations were taking place with the Pokemon League of Hoenn to bring them into the fold as well.
And yet, the rumors of a growing Resistance were prevalent, as various different teams of trainers seemed to have independence in mind, as well as several of the independent trainers from the main continent. The Rangers had tried to resist, but the defense was laughable at best, and they quietly withdrew into the night, leaving only the small pockets of Resistance here and there…as far as their reports had spoken, anyway.
But the news today was not of such things. No, the report that had called him from the front lines, miles from here was something of a different nature. It was something that would pique the interest of his Commander, and would give him a promotion, if he were lucky.
The two guards outside of the Commander's office didn't need to see identification as the man moved forward. He had been a part of the Crimson Tide for years, and was one of its founding members as well as a highly-respected trainer. They stepped aside, the door seeming to open of its own accord.
The man saluted as he entered, though being in the presence of the Commander was always an awe-inspiring experience. "Speak," the man said simply, in a deep, powerful voice.
"Sir. We've found something interesting in our reconnaissance. There appears to be an island that has yet to be touched by human hands. Our initial investigation has shown that the pokemon that inhabit the island are very strong, and would make a valuable asset to our ranks."
There was a long pause, as the Commander ran a gloved hand across his jaw, the fingerless glove protecting his skin from the stubble. "Good. You're in charge out there." That was all that was said, though the man's words were echoed by the slender electric mouse that perched upon his shoulder, watching the intruder darkly.
"Yes sir," he spoke, saluting again, before withdrawing. The Commander wasn't fond of speaking, and relied on his direct subordinate to do most of the relaying of orders. However, those words had given him free reign to collect a group and made headway onto this new island. He smirked.

The world is set in the world of Pokemon as we know it, though roughly twenty years have passed since the fall of the major crime syndicates. Rocket, Magma, Aqua, and Galactic have long since fallen and are only a mere memory in the minds of the citizens. Several other groups have tried to rise, but they lacked the effective leadership which allowed the four powers to rise in their time. However, roughly five years before the beginning of this role play, a mysterious group began to rise, calling themselves The Crimson Tide.
Their commander is one who only the highest-ranking members even get to see, much less talk to. No one knows his name outside of the higher-ups, and simply refer to him as 'The Commander.' In the short time that they've been around, they've practically taken over most of the regions, and though Hoenn is still independent, they're highly under the influence of Crimson Tide.
Yet, there are pockets of Rebel groups that are starting to form against Crimson Tide, and one such group has started its base on a small island just off the coast of Hoenn, where the Region was more or less free. A few miles out, the heavily-jungled area isn't exactly the most welcoming to humans as the Pokemon found here are fairly powerful, and don't seem to take kindly to humans, unlike the ones in the civilized areas.
The characters, from wherever they hail, will be a part of the resistance group against Crimson Tide, and are located in the only camp on the island, code-named Ambience. Having arrived anywhere from a day to a month ago, the characters have either been recruited for, or volunteered for, a mission into the heart of the jungle to search for a fresh water supply, accompanied by one of the leaders of the Resistance.
This is where the RP will start, and where it goes from there will depend on the players' actions and choices. Several events are pre-planned, and likely will not change, but as much of the island remains unexplored, the involvement of the players will determine what will and will not happen. I have short- and long-term goals for the RP, so just when you think things are at an end, there may be another surprise in store.
The island, called Sousei by those in commanding positions, is a mysterious place, and anything could happen here...but it depends on what you that will shape its future, and the future of the world as a whole.

Name: First and last, please.
Age: 16+, unless you have an excellent reason
Gender: Male or Female only, please.
Hometown: Not required, but just for giving your character a bit of background.
Title: 'Bird-keeper' or 'Hiker' or some such thing. Not required, but again, just something interesting.
Appearance: Picture not required. At least four full sentences here. We cannot see the mental image you have of your character; please help us to do the best we can.
Personality: At least six full sentences here. A good personality is longer than a good history, but allow us to get a good idea of what your character is like. You don't need to pin down every detail, as that leaves little room for growth, but don't have your dour and serious character crack jokes a lot.
History: At least six full sentences here, but this should be far longer than that. There is twenty years of virtually unexplored time, so feel free to fill it in with whatever details you'd like, just try not to go too crazy. If you alter the fate of the planet in your history, I may ask you to edit it.
Pokemon Team:
Species: The species of pokemon. No Legendaries, and pseudo-legendaries have to follow specific rules regarding their level. Fossil Pokemon and Porygon (and its line) follow the same rules as pseudo-legendaries, due to their rarity.
Nickname: The nickname of the pokemon, if any.
Gender: The pokemon's gender.
Level: The total levels of your pokemon cannot exceed 120, and the individual level of a pokemon may not exceed 35. For every pseudo-legendary on your team, lower the total level cap by 20. (i.e., just having a Dratini on your team lowers your total level cap to 100.)
Distinct Marks: Small marks/differences are fine. No black and red Pikachu, please.
Personality/Nature: A personality for your pokemon, if desired. Providing this will allow me to better set the mood for certain events if I know how the pokemon will react, but this is not required.
Attack List: Four attacks that the pokemon may learn, up to its level. One of your pokemon may also have an Egg move.
RP Sample: None is required. I can tell by the personality and history if you've Rping talent. If you wish to include this, however, feel free to do so.

Information
- Players can be from any of the four main regions, or from the spinoff games, should they so choose. I am not including 5th generation in this, so I would prefer your trainer not from that Region, but as long as you're only using 1st-4th generation pokemon, I won't complain too much.
- This is set twenty years after FR/LG. Civilization has advanced, and technology is a bit more plentiful. Oak has passed away, so if he is in your character's past, for whatever reason, please have it be fairly early on.
- I will be accepting five applications, so if you'd like to be in it, please give me your best effort : D
- This RP, while not mature, is definitely more dark and grim than the standard pokemon tale, and thus I'm going to set an age minimum of 16 for characters, unless you have a stellar application and fairly solid reasoning why someone so young is fighting in a rebel war and stands a fair chance of dying. Romance may happen, or it may not. It's not required, but definitely possible.
- Crimson Tide is very large and very powerful, to the point where they're intimidating the League into cooperation. They are organized and efficient, for the most part. They are strict, but fair, and rarely kill humans or Pokemon to achieve their goals, though it isn't obvious, even now, what their endgame is.
- Pokemon levels are tracked, for purposes of advancement and just a general idea of how powerful your pokemon are compared to your opponents'. Pokemon are restricted to four moves each, so please keep this in mind. In addition, relative stats aren't taken into consideration, so despite the fact that, statwise, a Pikachu is inferior to a Raichu, a well-trained Pikachu may come out on top.
- The RP is in third-person, limited omniscience, past tense format. This means that the actions of your character are given in third-person style. "He went to the Pokemon Center." Not "He is going to the Pokemon Center." Or "I went to the Pokemon Center." Limited Omniscience means you may type your character's thoughts, but please be sure to denote them with italics or some other method, please.
- As Story teller, I can break above rule, but only for story-telling, narration purposes. Any NPC I use will also follow the above rule. In addition, no god-moding or power-playing, please. I assume bunnying, as I've seen it here, is another word for power-playing, but to be safe, don't do that either.
- I am an adult, and thus I work for a living, and have to manage my time outside of work accordingly. I will do my best to check back here every day, but I can make no guarantees about posting every day. Also, I'm busy every Sunday, so the chance of me posting on Sundays is also very low. I would say I will post a minimum of three times per week, but I will be sure to inform you all if this changes.
- These rules are subject to change/modification as I see fit.
- If you have any questions, feel free to post here, or send me a PM.
