There's a new file in the download folder adjacent to the README called PokemonLocations that shows available species on all the routes, caves, and waterways.Hey just downloaded this one and keen to give it a try. Can you please provide some information on the added pokemon locations to routes/caves etc? Thanks
So this was a bug, unfortunately. Thank you for pointing out this issue. The documentation says there is a move tutor available after either defeating Pryce or Clair that can teach Thunderbolt, Flamethrower, and Ice Beam. I've defeated both, and I had understood it was supposed to be somewhere in the Game Corner. Apparently not? Where do I find them?
I added a new PokemonLocations list to the download file.Is there a Pokemon location list?
Oh Okay. So I have a few smaller questions that I'm curious about.Nah, no physical/special split. It was tempting, but I wanted to try and keep it closer to the original Crystal in that aspect.
Although, I tried to give Pokemon that would benefit most from the split some better level up moves, like for example Sneasel gets Slash (25), Double-Edge (33), and Metal Claw (41) by level up, as well as some good new physical TMs like Iron Head and X-Scissor. It's of course not as good as STAB Ice Punch, but makes him at least a little more viable.
Also, feel free to ask as many questions as you want, I enjoy answering them. I'm working on fixing the Goldenrod City tutor issue right now so will be online and available to answer for the next little bit.
EDIT: Reflecting on Sneasel's moveset, the cadence seemed a little weird. Now, it's been changed to Slash (25), Metal Claw (33), Double Edge (41).
Of course!Oh Okay. So I have a few smaller questions that I'm curious about.
1. When you say the radio tower/rocket storyline has been expanded, have you added more bosses to the game (IE Giovanni)? Or is it just the extra dialogue in goldenrod? Additionally, what you say in the description about either helping elm get out of his debt or defeating Team Rocket makes me think there's multiple routes or endings you can take in the story. Is this true or am I just overthinking things?
2. How do we get Eon Mail?
3. How does the event where we get Celebi work? I tried talking to Kurt with the GS Ball and he just left the room. Where does he go from there?
4. after doing one of the ruins of alph puzzles I got a message saying 'try to catch 3 unown.' Is this tied to some additional sidequest?
5. Will we keep our save files if we download the new patch you were talking about earlier?
6. I managed to get the number of this one trainer Erin on Route 45 or 46. Did u leave this in intentionally?
7. What are the level caps for each gym/E4 member?
Thanks and sorry.
Oh cool. So I went to go talk to him he says that 'he'll check it out' Came out and went back in and he just says he's checking it with no indication of what comes next. Am I doing something wrong?Of course!

1. This is kind of difficult to answer without giving things away, so here goes: It's mostly more dialogue, and without sharing too much, the new story with the Radio Tower acts as a fresh-ish take on the old game, while also providing an explanation for why Kanto's map is so limited. However, there is a new feature/storyline addition in Kanto that involves fossils and Legendary Kanto Pokemon, that stems from the updated dialogue from the new Radio Tower story. There is still only one main storyline, or at least, no alternative endings added, despite some fun additions throughout. No new boss battles either outside of the many, many rematches - but every once in a while, I do unsuccessfully try to add in a Professor Oak battle...
2. Whoops, no Eon Mail in the game, sorry! Don't worry, though, you're only missing out on a dumb joke, and then the reward is a measly Miracleberry. Honestly, the omission is an oversight, and I should've included it somewhere. If you're curious, here's what the Pokecenter girl says when you give it to her: "EON MAIL! I was totally lying. They contain red phosphorus. Now we can get the operation going!"
3. Kurt should just be chilling outside of his house after he runs out, so check that area first. If he's not there, either go in his house and walk far to the right to check for him over at his desk, or head to Ilex Forest. One of those three options should help you continue the event. Please let me know if you still have trouble, and I'll get right on diagnosing the issue.
4. Yes. It unlocks silly dialogue, but also a special feature. This feature was actually available in Vanilla crystal, but very few people seem to know about it, so I tried to elevate it a little bit using this game's dialogue.
5. I honestly don't know how that works... but if you can find a reliable way to back up your save file, give it a try and let me know! Please proceed with caution, though!
6. Nope, that's a mistake. Thank you for finding it! I'll add that to the Change Log updates for Version 1.3.
7. I don't want to give away too much publicly, but can happily send you the full list if you DM me. One tip is that Gym Leaders/Elite Four usually go up by 5 or 10 from the previous leader/member. These are set values though, and don't scale in any way. Some other tips: Red is initially the only trainer with Level 100 Pokemon, but some of the later Kanto Gym Leaders are pretty high up there. Once you beat Red, though, all the Kanto Gym Leaders and Elite Four are available for rematch with teams of all Level 100. Also, for what it's worth, when you beat Clair, the Johto Gym Leaders will become available for rematch, with each of their teams being in the low to mid 60s.
For Kurt, I thought I had edited the code so that it didn't take a day for the GS Ball event to trigger. In the original version where this event became available, you have to wait a day after giving it to him for the event to start, so hopefully that's the reason why it's not triggering the rest of the event yet. When he gives you the GS Ball back, that's when you know you can head to the Ilex Forest.Oh cool. So I went to go talk to him he says that 'he'll check it out' Came out and went back in and he just says he's checking it with no indication of what comes next. Am I doing something wrong?
Also as a side note for future patches, I feel like the e4 rematches should be available after you beat the 16th gym, like in HGSS with their levels around the 90s. Since Red is meant to be the true final final boss fight, he would have all lv. 100s But that's just me spitballing and Im sorry, I don't mean to backseat drive.
Thanks again!
I got it to work after waiting a day. Sorry Im late getting back to u.For Kurt, I thought I had edited the code so that it didn't take a day for the GS Ball event to trigger. No worries, I'm glad it worked out! I did look at the code, and couldn't decipher a problem, so it's a relief to hear things proceeded as expected. I think if I'm recalling correctly, in a previous version I tried to make it so you didn't have to wait a day, but that ended up corrupting the event... so I just stuck with using the base event code.I got it to work after waiting a day. So, how do we go about downloading the new version? I tried to patch it using both rom patcher and https://bbbradsmith.github.io/ipstool/ but it didn't work.No worries, I'm glad it worked out! I just tried patching with the available download, and things worked fine on my end. The latest version came out on Dec 23rd I think, and if not then, ether the days before or after the 23rd. I used Rom Patcher JS (https://www.marcrobledo.com/RomPatcher.js/), and also make sure to use Version 1.1 of the Pokemon Crystal rom.So, how do we go about downloading the new version? I tried to patch it using both rom patcher and https://bbbradsmith.github.io/ipstool/ but it didn't work.

Dang, I'm sorry to hear that. That hadn't happened to me when testing the Bug Catching Contest, but I must've missed something. Any chance that you caught that team entirely while in the Bug Catching Contest? That'd be the only reason I could think of why they'd be wiped outside of a coding error, since you only keep the last Pokemon you catch, the one that gets judged.Idk if its been mentioned before, it's not in the documentation either, but I just did the bug catching contest and my team was wiped, as in the 5 other pokemon that were a part of it are not in my boxes or anywhere else, talking to Max does nothing, I made the error of swapping boxes (thinking they were there) and now my team is gone. Yay.
I just tested the contest myself a few times, and I didn't have any problems. After completing the contest, I got my full team back, whether I won or not, so I'm not sure what the issue could be, besides the reason I mentioned early. Either way, that's a bummer that happened, and I'm sorry you had that experience with this game. I do hope you've enjoyed it otherwise!Idk if its been mentioned before, it's not in the documentation either, but I just did the bug catching contest and my team was wiped, as in the 5 other pokemon that were a part of it are not in my boxes or anywhere else, talking to Max does nothing, I made the error of swapping boxes (thinking they were there) and now my team is gone.
