The Legend
The (Pre)Story
The Features
(Also known as "stuff I hope to include in the game if at all possible.")
Long ago, there existed a Pokemon that had control over time, space, and the dimensions. This creature enjoyed wreaking havoc and abused its powers to such an extent that it became known as the Bringer of Chaos. Accordingly, there existed another Pokemon to counterbalance its power. This Pokemon, the Controller of Fate, could guide an individual whose destiny had been distorted by the Chaos Pokemon back down their intended path.
For many ages, these two Pokemon struggled to gain an edge over one another. Whenever one side appeared to be at an advantage, the other would increase its efforts tenfold, thereby tipping the scale back in its own favor. Eventually, however, it was the Chaos Pokemon that proved triumphant. The Controller of Fate became overwhelmed by the sheer number of impeded destinies, and was thereby forced to concede defeat.
At this point, The Original One had no choice but to step in. Throughout the ages, The Original One had observed the struggle between The Bringer of Chaos and the Controller of Fate, but as long as the balance was maintained, The Original One could not interfere. Without The Controller of Fate, however, it became clear to The Original One that this one being could not be allowed so much power. So, The Original One split The Bringer of Chaos into three, dividing its abilities evenly amongst them. In this way, instead of one being having command over time, space, and the dimensions, each of the three would be allowed control of just one.

The (Pre)Story
Spoiler:
It is said that The Original One finally brought down the Chaos Pokemon at a certain lake within the Valoh Region. Of course, many have set out to either prove or disprove this particular part of the legend, with varying degrees of success and little to no hard evidence.
One day, you set out to investigate the lake for yourself, though you honestly don't expect to actually find anything. While investigating, however, you happen to stumble and fall into the lake, which is much deeper than you at first realized. Not a very strong swimmer, you soon find yourself slipping beneath the surface, darkness closing in around you. The last thing you register before losing conciousness completely is a voice, though you can't quite make out what it says...
When you finally come to, you don't have any idea where you are. As a matter of fact, try as you might, you can't really remember much of anything aside from your name and a strange voice, though you have no idea what it's saying. Oddly enough, despite the fact that you don't know where you came from, it occurs to you that where you are now, you've never been before.
Dazed and confused, you wander into a nearby town...and so begins your new journey in Hovak.

The (Main) Story
The SettingYou are a young boy/girl suffering from amnesia. You live alone and have no knowledge of your family or anything about yourself aside from your name. You've never really had any interest in becoming a Pokemon trainer, and don't really have the time to devote to it, anyhow. Were it not for your job at the local PokeMart, you'd probably be living on the street. As it is, you've been forced to "borrow" extra money from there on more than one occasion.
Unfortunately, after several months of this, your boss is forced to let you go. Dejected, but knowing you have only yourself to blame, you decided to take a walk in a halfhearted attempt to clear your mind and figure out where you're going to go from there. During this walk, you happen to stumble upon an abandoned egg. You can barely take care of yourself, let alone a baby Pokemon, but you can't just leave it there, either. So, you decide to take it to Prof. Laurel, whose lab is located in the next town over.
On your way there, you're surprised to see three Pokemon running towards you, followed by a strangely dressed boy who is yelling and apparently chasing after them. The boy crashes into you in his haste, notices the egg, snatches it, and runs off. Feeling strangely protective, you chase after him, only to have your progress halted by the three Pokemon from earlier. It occurs to you that with the aide of one of these Pokemon, you'd easily be able to get your egg back. Surprisingly, one of the Pokemon (which you choose) decides to go along with you, at which point the boy from earlier returns, captures one of the remaining Pokemon with a ball you've never seen before, and challenges you.
Once you defeat him and retrieve the egg, you once again head to Prof. Laurel's lab. The frantic Prof. is both relieved to see that you've recovered one of the three Pokemon, and saddened that one of them was indeed stolen. She informs you that the boy was part of a group that's been causing a lot of trouble lately, and that though their motives are as yet unclear, she believes they have something to do with all the strange goings on as of late.
At this point, you finally remember the egg and show it to her. Apparently, she's never seen one quite like this, but refuses to accept it. Instead, she directs you to the Hatchery, which is located several cities away. In return for earlier, she gives you the Pokemon you chose for your protection. With no job (and pretty soon, no house) you figure you've got nothing left to lose. So begins your journey to uncover not only the nature of the egg, but the secret of your past, the mysterious motives of the sinister group Prof. Laurel mentioned, and the reason behind all the odd things that have been going on throughout the Hovak region!

Hatchery
Spoiler:
Throughout the Hovak Region, there are many eggshell fragments to be found. These fragments, which can be either large (two of which can be combined to create a whole) or small (either three of which or two and one half can be combined to create a whole) and come in several different colors, some rarer than others and each with their own unique properties. These fragments can be taken to the hatchery and combined to create eggs.
Unlike normal eggs, these eggs cannot be carried around. The player must come to the Hatchery to care for them until they hatch. If the player does not care for them, the eggs will go bad.
Also unlike normal eggs, fully developed Pokemon never hatch from eggs created in the Hatchery. What does hatch from the eggs depends both on luck and which fragments were combined to create the egg. Using this feature, the player can obtain unique, egg-only items, or, if they're lucky, a Hatchling.
Hatchlings are basically undeveloped Pokemon. If cared for properly, these Hatchlings can evolve into anything from otherwise unobtainable to Pokemon to Pokemon that are difficult to find in the wild. If cared for improperly, however, the Hatchling could fail to evolve, or evolve into an essentially "useless" Pokemon (a Pokemon that won't obey, won't evolve any further, has stats much lower than normal, etc.)

I intend to contribute in every way I possibly can to the creation of this game, but in the end, there are some things, try as I might, that I simply cannot do. If anyone would be willing to help out with said "things", I would greatly apprecite it...xDD!
1. Concept Artist: Will draw concept sketches of the new Pokemon. Color is a plus!
2. Pokemon Spriter: Will create sprites of the game-exclusive Pokemon, which will include their main sprites, mini-sprites (for the PC and team menu), and back sprites (that is, what you see when using a particular Pokemon in battle).
3. Item Spriter: Will create sprites of the new items found within the game. This will also include furniture and such found within buildings.
4. Character Spriter: Will be creating sprites of the main characters and new trainers, gym leaders, etc. that the player fights throughout the game.
5. Scenery Spriter: Scenery includes buildings, greenery, caves, ground tiles, etc.
6. Scripter: Fairly self-explanatory...xD
Although, the 'Features' list will give an idea of some of the scripts that I would need. And, of course, I can elaborate if anyone expresses interest. Also, the game will be created in RMXP.
7. Music Composer: Will compose the music for the various towns, etc.
