    The Legend

Long ago, there existed a Pokemon that had control over time, space, and the dimensions. This creature enjoyed wreaking havoc and abused its powers to such an extent that it became known as the Bringer of Chaos. Accordingly, there existed another Pokemon to counterbalance its power. This Pokemon, the Controller of Fate, could guide an individual whose destiny had been distorted by the Chaos Pokemon back down their intended path.

For many ages, these two Pokemon struggled to gain an edge over one another. Whenever one side appeared to be at an advantage, the other would increase its efforts tenfold, thereby tipping the scale back in its own favor. Eventually, however, it was the Chaos Pokemon that proved triumphant. The Controller of Fate became overwhelmed by the sheer number of impeded destinies, and was thereby forced to concede defeat.

At this point, The Original One had no choice but to step in. Throughout the ages, The Original One had observed the struggle between The Bringer of Chaos and the Controller of Fate, but as long as the balance was maintained, The Original One could not interfere. Without The Controller of Fate, however, it became clear to The Original One that this one being could not be allowed so much power. So, The Original One split The Bringer of Chaos into three, dividing its abilities evenly amongst them. In this way, instead of one being having command over time, space, and the dimensions, each of the three would be allowed control of just one.

    The (Pre)Story

    Spoiler:

    The (Main) Story

You are a young boy/girl suffering from amnesia. You live alone and have no knowledge of your family or anything about yourself aside from your name. You've never really had any interest in becoming a Pokemon trainer, and don't really have the time to devote to it, anyhow. Were it not for your job at the local PokeMart, you'd probably be living on the street. As it is, you've been forced to "borrow" extra money from there on more than one occasion.

Unfortunately, after several months of this, your boss is forced to let you go. Dejected, but knowing you have only yourself to blame, you decided to take a walk in a halfhearted attempt to clear your mind and figure out where you're going to go from there. During this walk, you happen to stumble upon an abandoned egg. You can barely take care of yourself, let alone a baby Pokemon, but you can't just leave it there, either. So, you decide to take it to Prof. Laurel, whose lab is located in the next town over.

On your way there, you're surprised to see three Pokemon running towards you, followed by a strangely dressed boy who is yelling and apparently chasing after them. The boy crashes into you in his haste, notices the egg, snatches it, and runs off. Feeling strangely protective, you chase after him, only to have your progress halted by the three Pokemon from earlier. It occurs to you that with the aide of one of these Pokemon, you'd easily be able to get your egg back. Surprisingly, one of the Pokemon (which you choose) decides to go along with you, at which point the boy from earlier returns, captures one of the remaining Pokemon with a ball you've never seen before, and challenges you.

Once you defeat him and retrieve the egg, you once again head to Prof. Laurel's lab. The frantic Prof. is both relieved to see that you've recovered one of the three Pokemon, and saddened that one of them was indeed stolen. She informs you that the boy was part of a group that's been causing a lot of trouble lately, and that though their motives are as yet unclear, she believes they have something to do with all the strange goings on as of late.

At this point, you finally remember the egg and show it to her. Apparently, she's never seen one quite like this, but refuses to accept it. Instead, she directs you to the Hatchery, which is located several cities away. In return for earlier, she gives you the Pokemon you chose for your protection. With no job (and pretty soon, no house) you figure you've got nothing left to lose. So begins your journey to uncover not only the nature of the egg, but the secret of your past, the mysterious motives of the sinister group Prof. Laurel mentioned, and the reason behind all the odd things that have been going on throughout the Hovak region!

    Recruitment

I intend to contribute in every way I possibly can to the creation of this game, but in the end, there are some things, try as I might, that I simply cannot do. If anyone would be willing to help out with said "things", I would greatly apprecite it...xDD!

    1. Concept Artist: Will draw concept sketches of the new Pokemon. Color is a plus!

    2. Pokemon Spriter: Will create sprites of the game-exclusive Pokemon, which will include their main sprites, mini-sprites (for the PC and team menu), and back sprites (that is, what you see when using a particular Pokemon in battle).

    3. Item Spriter: Will create sprites of the new items found within the game. This will also include furniture and such found within buildings.

    4. Character Spriter: Will be creating sprites of the main characters and new trainers, gym leaders, etc. that the player fights throughout the game.

    5. Scenery Spriter: Scenery includes buildings, greenery, caves, ground tiles, etc.

    6. Scripter: Fairly self-explanatory...xD
Although, the 'Features' list will give an idea of some of the scripts that I would need. And, of course, I can elaborate if anyone expresses interest. Also, the game will be created in RMXP.

    7. Music Composer: Will compose the music for the various towns, etc.

I'm glad the story appeals to you, but would you mind elaborating a bit more on what it is about the maps that you dislike?

    Plot: ****
So far, so good. I think this is the best part of the game so far. The only question that remains in my mind, and probably that of many others is, what happens in the actual game? You've only given us an entertaining legend and a teaser of a beginning. Although what you have right now flows nicely, it would be a very bad thing to have written a beginning without thought of an ending!
    Maps: ***
The region maps have a good deal of flat edges, which are alright in small quantities, but I'd vary up the borders if I were you. The first region (Hovak) seems ambitiously large, if you ask me, but something like that could very well work. As TS said, some of the colors are a bit off, and you could put some better corners on the route outlines. For additional help with that, look at Houndoomed's tutorial.
    Features: ***
I like the detail of the new type, but you may have to go into a bit more detail with it. Many of your features seem like they could be very entertaining in practice (you've at least got the theory down pat...). One of the problems is simply the lack of detail. The flavor of a game can very much be determined by the fakemon. So, elaborate, at least a little bit. Also, I kind of have to wonder what hybrid pokemon are...

    Overall, I give it a ****.

I just HAD to comment after h POKE on this one...let's go:

    The Legend

Long ago, there existed a Pokemon that had control over time, space, and the dimensions Already, I'm waving a red flag...either it conflicts with the fourth gen legends or is anothe rone of those DPPt reattempts. But I'll keep going.... This creature enjoyed wreaking havoc and abused its powers to such an extent that it became known as the Bringer of Chaos I just watched Fantasitc Four today and didn't care for the antagonists; this makes me think of that...so, wait, did this creature just destory everything if it did have dominion over the space-time continuum?. Accordingly, there existed another Pokemon to counterbalance its power. This Pokemon, the Controller of Fate, could guide an individual whose destiny had been distorted by the Chaos Pokemon back down their intended path ...okay, so we've got a Cresselia-Darkrai thing going here..

The Controller of Fate What put them into these positions, their warring with each other? became overwhelmed by the sheer number of impeded destinies When you say that, you're saying that, for example, I would smash the computer monitor in front of me instead of typing up my response here? See, the issue with that is that that world is -not- chaotic. Think about it--if everyone did something out of the ordinary, someone would benefit. Whoever manufactures the computer monitors love it when screens get smashed. Point: there would be a cancelling of these negativities unless these skewed destinies really mean the affected plunge into madness and unceasing violence., and was thereby forced to concede defeat.

At this point, The Original One had no choice but to step in Why should s/he care? Why was power delegated anyways? Why were they not checked to begin with if their warring was causing problems? Are the problems THAT severe now? Does Arceus have favourites, or is this a thing of stasis between the two?. Throughout the ages, The Original One had observed the struggle between The Bringer of Chaos and the Controller of Fate, but as long as the balance was maintained, The Original One couldwould? not interfere. Without The Controller of Fate, however, it became clear to The Original One that this one being could not be allowed so much power. So, The Original One split The Bringer of Chaos into three That is...a little random. Where did the core consciousness of the Chaos thinger go? Are the other two empty shells to be puppetted by Arceus, or were they given distinct personalities of their own?, dividing its abilities evenly amongst them. In this way, instead of one being having command over time, space, and the dimensions, each of the three would be allowed control of just one. So then they do have differing personalities, else their own self-interests would be the same goal and they would cause more chaos. And, with differing personalities, aren't they gonna war some more?

    The (Pre)Story

...you mean we haven't even hit the 'backstory' yet? Okay, so how does this legend o' yours get passed down? It seems like it wouldn't unless these divine creatures had direct contact with humanity...or had lackey legends that you didn't mention.

    The (Main) Story

You are a young boy/girl suffering from amnesia N-no...I can't imagine trying to make an adventure out of an amnesiac because a true one would have too much soul-searching to do to get any heroic deeds done.. You live alone and have no knowledge of your family or anything about yourself aside from your name Then how do you know that you aren't just in a place you knew before but forgot? See, this is shifty ground.... You've never really had any interest in becoming a Pokemon trainer, and don't really have the time to devote to it, anyhow. Were it not for your job at the local PokeMart, you'd probably be living on the street. As it is, you've been forced to "borrow" extra money from there on more than one occasion. How did you get hit on the head, anyways? Something had to cause the amnesia...

Unfortunately, after several months of this, your boss is forced to let you go. Dejected, but knowing you have only yourself to blame, you decided to take a walk in a halfhearted attempt to clear your mind and figure out where you're going to go from there. During this walk, you happen to stumble upon an abandoned egg Starter? Excellent.. You can barely take care of yourself, let alone a baby Pokemon, but you can't just leave it there, either. So, you decide to take it to Prof. Laurel Forget whatever inherent compliment was there..., whose lab is located in the next town over.

On your way there, you're surprised to see three Pokemon running towards you, followed by a strangely dressed boy who is yelling and apparently chasing after them. The boy crashes into you in his haste Seems reminiscent of the DPPt rival..., notices the egg, snatches it, and runs off Oooookaaaaaay.... Feeling strangely protective, you chase after him, only to have your progress halted by the three Pokemon from earlier. It occurs to you that with the aide of one of these Pokemon Okay, no...this is totally forced. You can do better., you'd easily be able to get your egg back. Surprisingly See? It's too convenient., one of the Pokemon (which you choose) decides to go along with you, at which point the boy from earlier returns, captures one of the remaining Pokemon with a ball you've never seen before, and challenges you. A nice twist would be the 'starter' leaves after you get your egg back, you take it back to Laurel, it hatches after some other event, and that becomes your starter...

Once you defeat him and retrieve the egg, you once again head to Prof. Laurel's lab. The frantic Prof. is both relieved to see that you've recovered one of the three Pokemon They wer hers? Released? Stolen?, and saddened that one of them was indeed stolen GSC Cliche. She informs you that the boy was part of a group Evil organisation? C'mon... that's been causing a lot of trouble lately, and that though their motives are as yet unclear Does that mean you don't know them yet yourself or that you're being 'secretive'?, she believes they have something to do with all the strange goings on as of late Establish these, please?.

At this point, you finally remember the egg and show it to her. Apparently, she's never seen one quite like this, but refuses to accept it. Instead, she directs you to the Hatchery Okay, that's a cool idea..., which is located several cities away. In return for earlier, she gives you the Pokemon you chose for your protection. With no job (and pretty soon, no house) you figure you've got nothing left to lose. So begins your journey to uncover not only the nature of the egg, but the secret of your past, the mysterious motives of the sinister group Team Chaosdestinyfatetwisterz? Prof. Laurel mentioned, and the reason behind all the odd things that have been going on throughout the Hovak region!

Okay, the backstory is more thought-out than most of them, but that does not indicate that you have anything of any substance here. You leave a lot of unanswered questions which either means that you have something shiny that you're being furtive about or that you're writing it as you go (bad idea...can't have a beginning without an ending). Assuming that it is not the latter, can you tell us what happens during the game? A backstroy does not make a game...you have all of that backstory; well, the game's plot should be eight+ times greater in size.
