Emerald hack: Pokemon Emerald Final v7.41 (updated January 18th 2023)

Alright, finally got enough time to do a bit of bugfixing/dialog adding
First off, the HM moves outside of battle have now been fixed, Surf cannot be used without acquiring the fifth badge like normal, the little cutscene when using HM moves has been removed and the dialog changed to make it appear as if the player is using an item to perform the action (an axe for cut, a hammer for rock smash etc). The gym leaders have also had their dialog altered to give you an HM item (though this is just for immersion, there are no new items actually added to your inventory).

Secondly, a capitalization error pointed out by PapaBear1 has been fixed

Thirdly, added an optional patch to remove the darkness from Granite Cave and Victory road.

Lastly in an effort to prevent the mediafire links from being automatically killed, I have removed the word 'Pokemon' from the zip/rar files. That doesn't really affect anything but I wanted to point it out in case you have to search through your download directory.

Apologies on how long this took vs how little was changed! I'm still working 6 days a week most of the time and I don't know when that will change but I am hoping to tackle some bigger additions sometime soon. Suggestions/feedback are always welcome and appreciated!
 
I really like this hack. I've been using it as a rombase for myself since mid january and I just got to know about the Surf issue when I started playtest after I did a ton of the changes. I just kept using it without knowing when and how a update would me made.

Now I have an issue. If I use the new IPS, I'll need to redo a lot of stuff I've been working on. I mean, a really LOT of stuff, from movesets, to moves, to bsts, abilities, to types (I actually reduced the number of types in the game).

So, may I ask you if you could make an IPS that only changes the HM stuff from the 7.37? So I dont need to redo a lot of stuff. The typos thing I fixed myself already.

The Pokedex compare size function is spelled COMPARed

There is a capital E on Mr. Briney's RoadagE sign.

Sometimes when I capture a new Pokemon and It shows the Pokedex info about him, the text is scrambled. But is normal if a manually go to the Pokedex.

I'll look into the overworld poison one, I might have accidentally overwrote the space dedicated for that option, pretty sure I took steps to avoid that but still, I'll look into it!

Those are two capitalization errors that are news to me I believe so I'll fix those in the next update.

Scrambled how? Is the pokedex entry shifted over or are the actual characters messed up? Because it shifting over is known but I'm unable to fix that as of yet

As for patching, always the main patch first, then any optional ones!

Yeah I can't seem to get the EXP to divide properly, been trying to fix that for a while. The overworld poisoning giving a weird message is bizarre because the code is all still there untouched so IDK why it is doing that. The egg receiving EXP is news to me though... if that was the egg received in Lavaridge that's doubly weird, but if you were breeding a Wobbuffet it has to hold a Lax Incense to produce a Wynaut.

Glad you're liking it, hopefully I can find out how to fix those issues!
 
Can confirm the Gen VI exp divide giving exp to eggs. It even learn moves, kinda funny knowing that I have a wynaut before hatching 😄

That's hilarious... No idea how to fix this one tbh lol

1. Words in plural sometimes still have the capital S at the end. Eg. SailorS, MeteoriteS.
2. Some dual trainers have their names all caps overworld, but is decap in battle.
3. Words ended with ING. Eg. SurfING, ParkING.
4. Eggs level up, learn moves and evolve, but when they hatch, they are back to level 5 but retains the evolution and moves (I think it only happens with the Gen iv exp patch)
5. Sometimes the pokedex text are shifted after I capture a pokemon. But is fixed if I check the Pokedex manually.

Thanks for the heads up on the capitalization errors, the patch I used for that sure missed a lot of little things lol

The eggs gaining exp is only with the Gen IV Exp patch, I'll look into fixing it but I'm not the one who made that feature so I'll have to ask the person who did!
Same with the dex shifting, but honestly it's low priority since the dex is fine when you look up pokemon

In really glad you are enjoying it! When I first made this it was to recapture that feeling when I played it for the first time and so many people are re-experiencing Emerald because of it and it's just fantastic!

Thanks again for the help finding bugs, and especially so for the pictures of where the capitalization errors are!
 
I was on route 120 (I believe, where it rains) and some trainer sent out Castform. After it transformed it went invisible. I haven't encountered sun or hail yet.

I knew I was forgetting something! That's an issue with the Moemon patch, all the non normal castforms do that, I'll try to have it fixed in the next update. Thanks for the reminder!

Glad you like the new HM messages, I wasn't sure if they sounded too silly lol

1. Are TMs reusable?
2. If I knock out a legendary, is there a way to make it respawn?

Also, I have an idea for a feature: Being able to access your PC anywhere like you can in Sword and Shield.

2. No, not for vanilla legendaries but I'll look into that

Accessing the PC from anywhere? I don't know about that

Could there be a level boost to 100 in the same fashion as the level boost to 50?
Could you remove all Poochyena from the game?

Also, one note that might be an error or something:
When I am asked whether I want to record my previous match at the Battle Frontier Dome or Tower, it presents me with the options "Yes" and "NO".

Could, yes. For what reason though? Access to moves learned at higher levels? I went with 50 so you could still evolve your pokemon.

As for the Poochyena..... No.

Hello, I started plaing this hack a few weeks ago and I love it. However, I do have a bunch of bugs to point out. I don't know if they have already been mentioned, so my apologies

First, certain Pokémon have their Pokédex entries bugged when captured (and in the case of Eeevee, when checking the Pokédex itself as well). That doesn't really bother me, since I can always check the entry on Bulbapedia or something like that

What does bother me is that the NPC that gives the TMs for Frustration and Return in Pacifidlog Town is bugged. When I talk to him, the sound when interacting with something or somebody appears, but there is no text box, and therefore I can't get the TM. I would love to get all TMs for completionism purposes so it would be nice if it was fixed

Other than that, excellent hack, it's exactly what I wanted in a Pokémon game. Many thanks!
