4th Gen pokemon evs?

ok so i dont know where this goes so please dont close it!

so, i was wondering what are evs? can someone please explain what in the world they are!? is it like where you get stats better? what are they!?

EVs do indeed raise stats. For every 4 EVs that go into a certain stat, the stat raises by 1 point. A Pokemon can earn a maximum of 510 EVs, and no more than 255 EVs can go into a specific stat. Every Pokemon yields at least one EV.
