This artical is going to be written as if "Pokemon" is a real game for the NES.

In 1988, Pokemon came out for the NES. It was the first game in the Pokemon franchise. It was very simple compared to the other Pokemon games considering the lack of technology for the NES at the time.

    Charmander vs. Bulbasaur

    Features
Only one starter Pokemon was available, which was given to you by Prof. Oak, Bulbasaur.
There were only 50 Pokemon: Bulbasaur to Diglett in the NatDex.
There is no "Bike" or "Running Shoes"
    There are 5 HM's:
    1. Rock Smash
    2. Strength
    3. Surf
    4. Fly
    5. Cut
There are 14 TM's: (The number in the () is it's attack strength)

Pokemon don't have a voice. For example: at the start of battle, when a pokemon faints, ect...they don't make noise.
When you run into a wall you only stop instead of a bump sound a slow forward movment.
There are only 5 GYM's. The Elite Four is still there on the other hand. But the fourth elite is the last.
    There are 18 Routes, 7 City's, 1 cave, 1 forest and 6 water masses.
After you press start at the title screen the game starts. There is no continue or new game option. To start a new game after you have already started one, press A+B+UP at the title screen.
There are only Pokeballs. No Great, Ultra or Master Balls ect...

Wow, It seems kind of freaky when you think about it. It also shows just how much technology evolved by 1995 to make R/G/B possible.

Though, I don't think it would have seemed as fun, quite boring showing such a lack in gameplay.

Not wanting to douse on your creativity or anything, but I'm just pointing out some things I noticed when looking at this, and maybe, since this looks like to be a work in progress (You've edited it numerous times), you can think about refining it. o: I don't know. xD

I wouldn't imagine that font being used for the game. If anything, they should probably still be tiles or something still primitive.
Also, 23/19 HP? Or were you trying to have things reversed for the opponent's side...?

It sort of seems illogical that only the first 50 Pokémon in the Pokédex are included, especially since a Pokémon like Gengar was one of the very first original Pokémon conceived by Tajiri. There's going to be a lot of holes if that's the case.

There's also a lot of missing types if we're going to count the first 50 Pokémon. Unless they were converted over to another type (Like, say, all the bugs turned into Grass Pokémon), this doesn't really make sense as well. There isn't even a single Fighting type in the first 50 Pokémon.

The first Pokémon Stadium in Japan featured only 42 Pokémon, but at least they were selective to make sure things were kept in balance. I'd imagine the game would be rather unbalanced and repetitive if we're playing an adventure spanning 5 gyms and an Elite Four with only the first 50 Pokémon.

Another thing is that I'd imagine that the NES would be more powerful than the Game Boy. Its technical specifications seem to have more capacity than the Game Boy's, so the only reason why this would be a downgrade to the Game Boy version is only due to the lack of ideas, not through technological limitations...

There was a very expansive RPG that was released one year after 1988. It was Mother, or Earthbound 0. That featured a lot of items, monsters, and adventure, so I think the NES can pack more power than it's supposedly touted here...

Again, sorry if it seems like I'm ruining the fun or something. xD Maybe I'm just taking this a little too critically. ^^; I did think it was rather charming to speculate what it'd be like if Pokémon were to be released earlier.

I just randomly thought of it and thought I might as well come up with some fake NES stuff. I did not realy plan any of it as you can see. I might make it into an actual game, if I get a team. I used a nifty little program that comes with XP called "Paint".

That's nice and all, but don't trick people into thinking this was real. We would have known about this a long time ago if it was. And maybe go to ROM hacking for this, if you want a team? idk. I really don't know what this is about, but since it's fake anyway, it doesn't belong here.

    Locked.
