This is it folks. This is the ultimate Pokemon GSC challenge. Something I have been thinking for a while, the kind of challenge which will really bring out the best out of Pokemon trainers.

    Let's see what you guys are made of;

    THE RULES:
    1) Re-start a new game of Gold, Silver or Crystal, pick whatever starter you wish.

    2) You must have caught at least 4 different Pokemon before challenging Falkner.

    3) You must have caught at least 7 different Pokemon before challenging Bugsy. All of them must be at least level 10.

    4) You must have caught at least 13 different Pokemon before challenging Whitney.

    5) You must have at least 6 Pokemon level 25 or higher when you challenge Morty.

    6) You must have only 2 Pokemon in your party when you defeat Chuck.

    7) You must have at least 10 Pokemon level 20 or higher when you challenge Jasmine.

    8) You must have caught at least 21 different Pokemon before challenging Pryce.

    9) You must have only 3 Pokemon in your party when you defeat Claire.

    10) You must have at least 6 Pokemon level 45 or higher when you enter the Elite 4.

    11) You must have only 4 Pokemon in your party whenever you challenge a Kanto Gym Leader.

    12) You must have caught at least 40 different Pokemon before you challenge Gary; half of them must be level 25.

    13) You cannot use any legendary Pokemon against Red.

    14) You must have only 4 Pokemon in your party when you challenge Red.

    15) The game ends once you've caught 50 different Pokemon, trained half of them to level 30 and beaten Red.

*Note - Pokemon evolving DO NOT count as different Pokemon. Exemple: Chikorita is one pokemon. If he evolves into Bayleef, this doesn't make 2 Pokemon, it's still just one. This is the way it is going to work for this challenge. You also can't catch a Geodude, a Graveler and then a Golem and count them for three. Any Evolution chain counts for just one Pokemon.

    Be honest, don't cheat.

Provide frequent updates and screen shots if possible.

THERE IS A TWIST: I will give you the right to use a gameshark but only ONCE in the game, at the very beginning. You will be able to pick what Pokemon, out of all those available in RBY et GSC, you wanna catch first. This Pokemon must be maximum at level 5, it cannot be a legendary, and it must be at it's first stage of evolution.

This is it guys. This promises to be a long, interesting challenge.

Are you a good enough trainer to take it? Do you have the patience to train all of those pocket monsters, and the skills to beat Red with only 4 Pokemon?

Well, I'm in the mood for playing my Silver again, so I accept the Challenge! I'm starting with Cyndaquil, since he is my favorite :).

    -Started with Cyndaquil (Quil).
-Received Elm's Number and obtained Potion from Aide!!!
-Took the Old Man's tour and received a Map Card.
-Made it to Mr. Pokemon's house and was given an Egg and a Pokedex.
-Got a call from Elm, "Onoes! Someone be stealin mai Pokemanz!"
    -Cyndaquil evolved into Quilava.
-Defeated ??? (named him Tyler) and his wimpy Totodile.
-Used 4 of my 5 Pokeballs to catch a Sentret (Fury)...
-My last Pokeball caught me a Pidgey (Aero)!
-Bought 10 more Pokeballs and caught a Rattata (Ratt).
    -Caught a Weedle (Buzz).
    -Caught a Hoothoot (Hoot).
-Made it to Sprout Tower and caught a Ghastly (Goth).
-Quil easily beat all trainers in the Tower and the Elder, got HM 05 for winning.
-Went back out to Route 31 to catch a Bellsprout. Traded with the kid in Violet City for an Onix.
-Caught a second Bellsprout (Bell) to keep for the challenge.
-Fury beat the first trainer with the Spearow and Quil easily took out the second...

    Gym Leader Battle: Falkner
Basically, this was Quil's battle. She knocked out the Pidgey with a hit of Ember and the Pidgeotto with two. For winning, Falkner gave me the Zephyrbadge and TM 31... now onto Bugsy with a gang of level 10s :D!

-Went back to the Pokecenter to heal and received the Egg from Prof. Elm's Aide! ... and now it's using up a slot in my party
-Found and caught a Mareep (Amphy)!
-Caught a Ledyba for some reason...

When my schedule clears up after this week, I think I'll take this challenge. Silver is my favorite game involving Pokemon to date (except for Super Smash Brothers [Brawl+ / Melee]), so this is going to be incredibly fun. I'll post again or edit this when I start.

All right! I'm definitely going to give this a try! ;D I'll be using the Crystal version.

    Version: Crystal
Trainer Name: Roku (I'm playing as the female trainer "Kris")

    February 19th, 2009 Update:
-Strolled into Professor Elm's, listened to his incredibly long lecture, and received my first Pokemon. (Yep... I'm going with Cyndy as well...)
-Fought assorted Hoothoots and Rattatas on my way to Cherrygrove City, where I was given the Grand Tour and a Map Card.
-Battled my way up to Mr. Pokemon's house (I can't stand Spinaraks), listened to more lectures, and left with a Pokedex and my Pokemon fully healed.
-After receiving a call from Elm, headed back to Cherrygrove. Was ambushed by The Rival. Sent him and his Totodile packing. Continued to New Bark Town.
-Named my rival "Jacob". Listened to more lectures courtesy of Professor Elm, and left his lab 5 Poke Balls richer.
-Started my Pokemon-catching quest. Caught a Poliwag on Route 30.
-Caught a Hoothoot (KFC) while training Poliwag on Route 29.
-Fought some trainers on Route 30 en route to Route 31 and the Dark Cave. Caught a Bellsprout as well.
-Attempted to catch a Geodude in the Dark Cave, but failed. Will have to buy more Poke Balls…

    Pokemon:

    Cyndaquil (F) - Lv. 10
    Tackle
    Leer
    Smokescreen

    Poliwag (M) – Lv. 9
    Bubble
    Hypnosis

    KFC/Hoothoot (M) – Lv. 5
    Tackle
    Growl

    Bellsprout (M) – Lv. 5
    Vine Whip

My Pokemon's movesets are terrible, but then again, so are the levels...
