Hello, welcome to my idea thread. There's a google doc here if you want to see all my notes, but I'll also be explaining everything here.

Google Spread Sheet
Summary
Spoiler:
This is a new gen style game, including old and new pokemon. I'd like to refine some mechanics and introduce new ones that I think would make the experience much better. The focus of this fangame is to make the world feel alive and lived in. This means, there are weekly activities and schedules that you can interact with, as well as side quests to keep you occupied. I imagine the region would feel as if people in the region do something other than standing there to tell you some sort of fun fact/observation that's only useful the first time you read it. Outside of these small details, the main story would also be quite interesting, both story-wise and gameplay-wise. The story is detailed more in the google spreadsheet. One thing I want to do with this game is to target it towards the single player experience. Part of this includes the activities and interactive world, and another part includes the story. However, I also believe that the battles the player takes place in also has to do with this, so I want to actually plan out every single trainer battle so that the player experience is more structured. I'd like to use unique battle strategies to create difficulty as well as personality for each trainer. More on this in the new mechanics section.
So, tl;dr I want a new generation pokemon game with an interactive and lively experience and a single-player focused experience.

New Mechanics
- Interactive World Spoiler:I imagine every NPC in the game is significant in some way. Perhaps they own a shop, or maybe they're a part of a side quest, or perhaps they have a weekly schedule that affects other things (perhaps somebody goes out at night to sit on the hill on fridays and if you talk to them at this time, you'll learn that they desire to have a significant other). I also want the player to be able to continuously find new events to participate in long after they've done all the big events. For example, some sidequests may be daily, in which you can constantly participate in it no matter how many times it's done (like berry farming, or delivering goods, or participating in a yearly festival).
Weather and SeasonsSpoiler:I always liked the seasons mechanic from Black and White and I thought it'd be interesting to expand upon that. The player would have a smart phone (or something similar to the dexnav in ORAS) and one of the apps on it would be the weather app, showcasing a 7 day forecast. There'd be a variety of different weathers like sunny, cloudy, raining, thunderstorm, windy, snowy, etc. The changes in the weather will only slightly affect the environment (if it's cloudy, you'll see the shadows on the route, and if it's windy you'll see lines indicating wind) and will also slightly affect encounter rates. If it's sunny, there'd likely be more grass types, fire types, ground types, etc. but it'd only change the encounter rates on each route by 1-2%. It'd also have effects in battle, and there'd be more weather effects. If it's windy, flying types, bug types, etc. would have attacks boosted and there'd be a tailwind effect happening depending on the direction of the wind and the player (whichever direction the battle commences, the tailwind will benefit the one who's back is to the wind). If it's a thunderstorm, electric and dragon type moves will be buffed and flying/water types will be nerfed. There's also a chance for lightning to strike during battle (a really low chance) and it'd damage all pokemon unless they have an ability like lightning rod. More can be added. In addition to weather, there will also be seasons which change monthly like in Black and White. Seasons will change encounter rates at a higher level (changing pokemon encountered and making some appear less often) but it depends on the pokemon's behavior.
