Pokemon Go Ban Question??

So after reading countless articles on offenses and violations of the Niantic terms of service. I have a question that i would like an answer to from the pokemon community, because it seems like niantic support does not have a email/support option that fits into this category. The situation is, i have my own Pokemon go account with google, i have a sibling with a pokemon account for pokemon go. We sometimes use my phone to play pokemon go by switching on and off accounts for pokestops or a rare pokemon. According to the the pokemon go guidelines, we cannot share or have multiple accounts. Which we arent sharing accounts. I am concern about that since we both use the same device that can be mistaken as multiple accounts. See guidelines here https://support.pokemongo.nianticlabs.com/hc/en-us/articles/221993967-Pokémon-GO-Trainer-guidelines

So, since we both use the same device for pokemon go, would that be considered violation of the Guidelines and TOS? I do not own more than one account. Will we recieve a ban for this? If so, how would Niantic know who is abusing this and who is not? I dont see any of this giving other players unfair advantages as i dont really fight gyms; im still in the catch them all phase. Any official answers from niantic on this or just your opinions please.

interesting question, i guess for now i would say that i havent heard of any bans for this type of situation they are mostly concentrating on other bigger issues to ban someone.
From experience with other MMORPGS is that they only tend to look at this if the accounts interact with each other, probably when trading comes in you might want to be 100% sure what you are doing is ok. You said that you dont fight gyms and thats probably best until you can find a definative answer

Thanks for replying Phoenixstarz, i don't see a problem with this either.I just hope that if niantic does investigate my account, that they actually put time into it because i have caught quite the pokemon and i would be furious to lose my hard work for something like this. Until Niantic has an actual email that responds, i'll have to wait for an official answer.

I've only heard of bans regarding botters/GPS spoofers so you should be good, don't worry! A permanent ban is quite a severe punishment and will only be reserved for likewise serious offences like out-right hacking or cheating the game.

Thank you everyone for your answers, i feel much more at ease for letting my sibling play on my phone as well.

@pokemongogold Perhaps you misread my question or didnt read at all. I have not been banned, im asking if i would for allowing a sibling to use their account on my phone.

    You should be fine.

People are angry about bot users and cheaters, that cheat themselves to New York, then Tokyo, then Amsterdam, then Toronto in a day without actually being there, or cheaters that visit 500+ pokestops in an hour. Those are the guys that they are after and that can expect a ban.

You are not using two accounts at the same time and the pattern of play for each account should look rather normal, so i think you should be fine.

It could still be a good idea to buy a new smartphone and give the old one to your sibling :)
