Pokemon Go Crashing (Help!!!)

    Hi everyone,
Since I got Pokemon Go, the game has been crashing whenever I tap on a wild pokemon to try to catch it. After a few frustrating days I managed to get into a wild pokemon battle for a split second, before it crashed. After achieving this a few times, I managed to turn off AR and it worked perfectly.

Unfortunately, the AR turns back on every time I log out or install an update. This is incredibly frustrating and often it is days before I can turn off AR!
My question is, does anyone know:
    a) If there is a way to turn off AR, WITHOUT going into battle with a wild pokemon, or
    b) If there is a way to stop AR from crashing my game, WITHOUT going into battle with a wild pokemon.

    Thanks,
    -NickStuf

Unfortunately, this isn't possible at the moment.

Are you on Android or iOS?

I am on Android 4.4.4. My phone is a Moto G 2nd gen. I have all permissions turned on and have taken the advice sent by Niantic.

    Thanks,
    NickStuf :)

I'm not aware of any fixes for this but I really hope you can get it sorted soon, that sounds like a really horrid issue. I'm a bit surprised that your AR turns back on so frequently though - I turned it off when I first started playing and to my knowledge it's never turned itself back on even after crashing/updating. All I can suggest is contacting Niantic through the bug report feature but hoping you can get it fixed soon!

    Hi everyone,
Thank you very much for your support. If anyone has any ideas on how to solve this issue, they would be greatly appreciated. Contacting Niantic proved to be useless and i am unable to change app permissions on my device without root.
In the meantime, I've deleted the game and downloaded Ingress :( :(

Very sorry to hear that. Niantic is swamped right now, as you can imagine. I don't think they were prepared, in multiple ways, for the kind of response Pokemon Go has had. One of those is customer service.

Once things cool down a bit and now that they have it rolled out in every planned country (Japan being the final country, today, I believe) perhaps there will be more bug fixes and communication soon. Hopefully in a few weeks you'll be able to move forward and join the fun.
