pokemon going a bit mushy

    in the early days it werent so bad but ever since the johto league the only cool episodes are gym battles and such. everything else is just oohh poor little tiny cute pokemon lets return it to its parents or oh no team rocket stole a villages sacred statue we got to find it

    i mean, come on the only episodes i will watch now are the silver conferance or the battle frontier episodes!!
     
    I know! It has gotten rather dull. & With Dawn crying after every contest she loses...Ugh! >.<
     
    I know. Showing emotion is such a terrible thing, isn't it. Besides, episodes that aren't battling allows for character development.
     
    The character development may be minimal, but believe me there is some in there.
     
    Yea. & some characters could use a bit more development than others
     
    I hate the show now. I dont watch it anymore. I would watch the old ones though. Now its just like, " Hey there is a buneary! Im going to catch it, hold it against its will, and force it to battle for my own personal gain calling it my 'friend'!" And one thing that was REALLY stupid was in a DP episode, Ash catches a starly and then IMEDIATLY after catching it he lets it out and then it acts like they are best friends! What is with that?!
     
    Wait your just now noticing this? Either way I pretty much stopped watching after Johto. I've seen a few of the Sinnoh episodes and did not like them at all.
     
    Lol i didnt even watch hoenn because we had limited cable back then

    i knew most of the characters after their first five episodes
     
    lol! & Team Rocket just keeps getting sadder. (don't get me wrong I love R) They steal whatever for about 5 seconds & then *BOOM* thunderbolt & they're gone
     
    No pikachu= Pika Pika Im lvl 100 but i still lose to lvl 5s!

    I agree with everyone here, I stopped watching it after the first few Johto ones because they were so similar...

    *They meet a random trainer*
    *Make friends*
    *Random Trainer/Ash catches/evolves/trades/receives first/releases/goes back to/reunites with some sort of pokémon*
    *Has a battle where pikachu wins or it ends half way through the battle or Team Rocket intervene*
    *Team Rocket gets pwned in one shot*
    *End*

    LOL, That was the only one in the D/P series I saw, it was also the last for reasons like the starly. :P
     
    Why is it that here there are quite threads every month saying that everything after Johto sucks, but if you even thought about making a thread like that on bmgf you like...die? Makes ya think...

    Uh...how is the "Im going to catch it, hold it against its will, and force it to battle for my own personal gain" any different from any other series...or the games?
    Ash is a friendly guy (haven't noticed? XD) so of course he'd want to make Starly feel welcome quickly. Ash has always wanted to be friends with his Pokemon, that is definatly no different from back then o.O

    Because at Bulbagarden (and Serebiiforums for that matter), they like intelligent members who dont have something set in their head that impairs their ability to be openminded to the new. This place is full of softies and complainers because of the lack of reasonable people. For example, at the SPPf Misty club, they banned Weedlemchairybug but at our Misty club, the members praise him and agree with him.

    Sometimes I dont know why I stay here but then I remember. If I leave, then there's one less good Pokemon fan on this board which is something it needs.


    As for the thread, I dont even know where to begin. The Johto Journeys was definitely the worst season in the series, with Kanto and AG, but The Orange Islands, Pokemon DP and later Johto were much better. However, not too many people agree with me on the Johto part even though season 4 had loads of good episodes but why bother arguing.

    If anything Pokemon is better than it's ever been. It's just that people here cant accept how the show works.


    About Ash's "level 100" Charizard, if he had a Pokemon like that, he's sweep through Shinou or whatever region and it would be boring and then become repetitive and then the fans would be complaining.
    Oh wait, fans always complain.

    Ash's Pikachu resets it's "level" every region so it's not too powerful. It's like in the games we all start over with new, weak Pokemon and build up from there. That's what Ash is doing.

    Responding to the last two posts.

    I think it's venting, I think a lot of people haven't caught up to D/P and are scared by the new material and there's the fandom's unique ability to find fault with anything in sight (prove me wrong). However, if it is constructive, I let it go, as it causes us to think in other directions. For, if we do not, we stagnate as a fandom. Which was the one of the reasons why Johto failed so badly to the fans, it's because of the fans' desire for it to top the first game canon arc, which it didn't (excluding the banal writing, of course).

    So, this line of thought will appear again and again. Despite it, we'll be open-minded, until it gets out of the person's system and we deal with the next one.

    And I have no idea why I decided to be so honest here. Heh.
     
    Anyone saying its always been like that, I wouldnt know. I didnt watch most of the show. All I ahve is whatever i have on VHS. The movies I really hate though. They really are all the worst parts of the show put in one.

    1st movie: Mewtwo realizes friendship and how great it is.

    2nd movie: All about teamwork and all that and how if you work together you can get anything done.

    3rd movie: You can do anything if you beleive

    4-8 didnt watch

    9th and 10th movie: proves •ω•'s point

    11th movie: I never saw it.
