    No, I didn't misspell "GTS". This is a random idea of mine, so please bear with me.

    What if Game Freak included a GPS system with a future Pokemon game? Think of it as the successor of the Pokewalker. The system would be used to give players a chance to battle event Pokemon depending on their location in the world. If you're in say, Hawaii, you get to battle an event Bellossom. Climb to the top of a snowy mountain and you get a chance to take on Articuno. Travel to the bottom of the ocean to get Kyogre. Think of all the landmarks in the world; the possibilities are endless. It'd be a nice little extra when you take the game while traveling.

    I think this would be pretty amazing. Pokemon fans would literally be traveling the world in search of Pokemon. Yeah, I know it's a bit unrealistic.

    Good idea, or just plain stupid?

    well in concept I think its good but you must think of the price to both manufacture these and the cost of traveling "Around the world" plus working real GPS systems are pretty expensive so it might result in a heightened game price. also so with event Pokemon there is the saying "Too much of a good thing".
     
    As cool as the concept seems, it's too expensive, as stated above.
     
    Perhaps it'd work better if the locations were more... localized. I seriously doubt anybody is going to climb a mountain or fly across the ocean to get an event Pokemon. Maybe just, yanno. Events in certain areas of major cities or something. Keep it limited to places people actually have access to.
     
    To expensive, but interesting idea. I could get event Stantler since I live in the woods, haha. ;) That's a crazy idea, but I like that you think outside the box.
     
    No thank you, I am definitely not willing to travel across the entire world for certain Pokemon. I will just hack them instead because I'm not willing to spend that much money on a game.
     
    Believe it or not I actually came up with the same idea quite a while back. I finally for some reason had the urge to see if anyone else had thought of this, that's how I found your post. Honestly I think it's a completely realistic idea, though with that said I doubt it will happen anytime too soon. When Nintendo develops a new portable console with GPS built in I'm sure this will happen. It really is only a matter of time I would imagine. I hear that the PS Vita (coming out some time next year) will actually have built-in GPS, so really this idea of ours with a pokemon gps game really isn't as far off as a lot of people might think. Though I would have thought a lot more people would have come up with this idea, but your post is the only one I found regarding this topic thus far. That's pretty interesting really.

    Mmm since I live in a desert area, maybe I can catch some ground Pokemon...
    Interesting idea, but would be a big problem make it functional and at the same time, accessible to all players (economically speaking).
