POKEMON GYMS

Now that Pokemon GO has been out for more than a day now and trainers have started to get around and past the Level 5 point needed to start battling gyms, have any of you given them a shot?

My city currently has gotten quite a bit of a Valor VS Mystic rivalry with the gyms constantly taking them back and forth from each other. Instinct unfortunately haven't really been able to take many gyms due to Valor and Mystics.

Haven't been able to take on gyms since the full release due to lagging a bit behind on leveling up ;-;

I actually tried one out - successfully beat my first gym today!

It took me a minute to get close enough to it while still maintaining the safety that is my car (I'm not a member of the church where this gym is...), and while it already belonged to my team, it was nice to know I'm leveling up faster than someone! Nearly every gym that I've encountered so far already belongs to Team Valor, so, I don't really feel like I'm fighting a team war here... haha.

I just took down a red gym near my house. I was a little surprised and saddened to see that I wasn't allowed to use the Pokemon I fought it with when taking it over. Or now that I think about it it might have been because they were injured?

I found one, I crashed both times I tried interacting with it and gave up. Maybe later. Also how do you put a pokemon in a gym if your team owns the gym?

I've taken a gym nearby for almost a day. When I went back to it my team had already reclaimed it. Valor is big around here.

Tip for you as to why it might be crashing. If you spam touch the screen trying to attack, then it'll glitch and crash out/leave the opponent's Pokemon on hardly any health and then will sweep your team. Just tap to attack and wait for the animation to finish before attacking again. Keep dodging though...

Also, when you are in the vicinity to a gym claimed by your team, click on the gym and in the bottom left corner, there'll be a button where you can add a Pokemon. :)

I tried my first gym like 2 days ago. It was going good considering that I was fighting a Pokemon with a cp over 200 and I had beneath 200. It was going good until my Pincer came and the damn guy didn't want to finish the Dodrio out in the end I was defeated and was mad at the Pincer. Now I have stronger Pokemon enough to have beaten that Dodrio;-;;-;

Today I want to tell a beautiful story of a Pokemon Gym and the battle of Instinct and Mystic in my town happening the last 24 hours. So we have this gym in my city on a a Fountain in the middle of the ocean. And the only way to get to that gym is to actually get to that fountain in the middle of the ocean (you can't battle or reach it anywhere by land).

And then just a few hours ago we had this guy on our facebook group who swam over there just to take it back for Instinct.

Okay, swimming or kayaking out to a gym... that is totally sick. I have nothing to compare with that.

Actually, I haven't even been able to successfully battle at rival gyms because of the 1hp glitch. Hoping to try again sometime today, but, up until now I've had to just give up on rival gyms. Sad, but I am willing to be patient.

While I have not done any gyms yet, since I am not at the right level, i do know the locations near me that are Red or Blue Gyms. Turns out the place that I work at appears as a Blue Gym in Pokemon Go. A couple of places that I know that appear as Red gyms are a field in a park and a basketball court.

I don't do gyms very often since it glitches nearly every time. I've found that if you get the glitch where you can't kill the Pokemon then when you restart it it either force closes the battle/starts with a low timer and then you just stick around for a few minutes it'll start working properly.

Or just do the glitch again.

I am kind of glad I picked Instinct. I am a higher level than most so I can just swoop in, steal a gym real quick, then place a high level Pokemon in there. Generally still gets taken within a day but..

Stole a Gym from Valor on the way home from getting groceries today.
It was a giant lagfest, but at least now I can finally say I actually rep'd Instinct.

Probably not gonna try to take many Gyms until/unless the lag gets better, but I'll reinforce any Instinct Gyms I come across.
Which, so far, has only been the one I've claimed...

EDIT: And immediately after posting this the Gym got taken back :(

So today I found out that my work place is a Gym.
So I'm still really rusty at this game but I'm planning to dive way into it now that i know that my work place is a gym. I feel like I'm obligated to defend it. I also told two of my co-workers that our work place was a gym and both of them told me they are planning to really jump into the game as well now that they know that. I wasn't all that hyped for pokemon GO until now.
I also managed to convince them to join team Instinct. :D
I'm hoping that by the end of this I can get my whole work place to defend it's own gym!

I haven't done the gyms since I don't really think I have any good pokemon to bother. Also not really sure how. And don't have much interest in them. I like the catching Pokemon better, if any pokemon besides the first 20 excluding the starters, would ever spawn.
