A pokemon region where everything is not so black and white.

This game is set in an as yet unamed region to the southeast of unova. It is a condensed version of the rest of the US, from Pennsylvania to Florida to California to Washington. It is going to be semi-open world where you can tackle the first two gyms in any order before that opens up the next four, then the final two before the league.

Both the regions pokemon league and "evil" team sit in morally grey areas and the player will have to decide who is right and who is in the wrong. Player choices will affect the region in many ways and how the game plays out is decided in the end by player action.

Levels will scale to the player so grinding is never required. Tons of events, minigames and side activities will be available.

Discord will be updated as i work on the project. I am currently in the early stages so nothing there is final.

It sounds good on paper, but also would depend on what the league, and dark team are being "morally grey" over.
if it's someone people are genuinely grey over it could work amazingly.
If it's someone not so grey it might flop.

Im still in the very early developement stages, but right now my ideas are focused on is it okay to do the wrong thing for the right reasons? (Human/Pokemon experimentation for the benefit of everyone. Stealing pokemon to get them away from abusive trainers.) Seeing the same issue from multiple perspectives. And personal gain vs selfless sacrifice. (An npc asks the player for money for food, if the player gives it to them they survive otherwise they disappear.)

I suppose since you're basing this "near unova" it could still follow suit with Team Plasma's original plan of liberating Pokémon, or the abuse, or use of Pokémon being brought into question.
Since that is the hugest grey area in pokémon.

Pokémon are captured as pets, or fighters which could be considered abuse.
But, without humans capturing and taming Pokémon they'd be running wild, and destroying Towns, Roads, Cities, etc.
