Natalie could see Petalburg City in the far distance. The air smelled oddly fresh. She shifted her weight onto her good leg and then looked back at the pond. The Pokéball containing her Dratini flew up. Natalie caught it and attached it to her belt. Without a word, she walked through the brush and flinched when some Wurmple slithered by. "Charmander," Aero said. "What?" asked Natalie. Suddenly, a hand grabbed her shoulder. She turned and saw a Rocket standing there. "Aero, use--" Natalie started. "NO," the Rocket yelled. "I'm not here to attack you."
"Yes you are."
"No, I want to ask you something."
"What is it?"
"You seem like you would be a good part of Team Rocket. You have that tough glint in your eye. You can help us get what we want, do us justice. What do you say?"
"No, I'm here for a reason. To stop you."
"But did you ever think that Team Rocket is… powerless? That we feel rejected from society and want something good for us?"
"There are other ways to accomplish that."
"Your peace methods? Psh, they don't work for no ****."
"How rude."
"No."
"Quit pestering me."
"Shut up."
Natalie went silent. She squinted and saw a herd of Ponyta running through the trees.
"Well?" asked the Rocket.
"Huh?"
"I said, society treats us bad and we want equality."
"Can you quit following me?" Natalie asked. She picked up Aero and put him at the top of a fence. She climbed it and jumped down to the other side. The Rocket wasn't letting her leave. He jumped the fence and continued. "If you join, you'll get free Pokémon from us and have the satisfaction of being in the most evil-- I mean, misunderstood organization ever!" he said enthusiastically. "That sounds stupid," Natalie told him. "WHY YOU LITTLE-- I mean, no, it's really cool," said the Rocket impatiently. Natalie ignored him and reached into her coat pocket. She took out a medium sized blade, stopped walking, and stared at the Rocket. He said, "What are you doing with that?"
Natalie stuffed the entire blade down her throat. She started to gag and stagger around. The Rocket watched in confusion. "Is that a magic act? Is that knife magic?"
Natalie ignored him and took out another blade. The Rocket quickly snatched it. "I wanna try!" he said jokingly. He stuffed the blade down his throat, and it impaled through his trachea. Blood poured everywhere, and Natalie automatically stopped gagging and looked at him in shock. He dropped to the ground with fearful eyes and lay still. Natalie stood there awkwardly, not knowing what to do. She took out the retracted blade from her mouth and just stood still, staring at the dead Rocket.
Aero huffed out a small puff of smoke.
