You know Ash doesn't fight the Elite four in the episodes so why does that happen in the games? And there are 3 champions in the games and there is probably only one in the episodes.I know the games are different from the episodes but still......>_>

not true, ash has fought Drake in Hoenn, but i do see your point, Ash hasn't gone through the experience from the game, normally after you get 8 badges, you fight the "4" of the E4, but instead they make it into leagues they go to after, and just random challenges, from E4 and/or champions.

    Think about it. Really.

If the trainers didn't have to beat a tournament before going on to the Elite Four, the Elite Four would be battling non-stop, for days on end. Their Pokemon would be worked to death. You know how many people enter a league..

They also don't want to waste their time on wimpy trainers. They want the best of the best. Since the games think you rock anyway no matter how much you really suck, they just let you go straight to the Elite Four.

I wish they'd just do a tournament however.. It'd be more interesting.

Yup yup, thats why thank God for d/p wifi =D Now there are actual challenges and Diamondpearl is right with exactly what he said so I dont have to alborate.

Yeah, you can set up your own league with wi-fi pretty much.

I think the reason why Ash doesn't compete in the PKMN League anymore is because he already won the PKMN League in Kanto.
o_O Except he didn't win. He lost against Richie, coming in the top 16. And he's still competing in the league for each region.

I think that the reason Ash doesn't battle against the Elite Four is the fact that it's much better for his character to have "rival(s) of the region". It's easier for him to aim to be better than Gary or Paul than it is to try to be better than someone who has years of experience.

Besides, if he defeats the Elite Four, that would end the anime series. Ash would be the best trainer of them all if he defeats Lance or Cynthia. It's better for him to lose to the rival of the League and try again.
