Hello! While browsing through the Dragonfly Cave, a new idea for a nuzlocke variants popped into my head: The Lucklocke. With the Lucklocke, you have to have a Random Number Generator, which can be found online, handy. This is because as implied in the name, luck can lift some restrictions or bring terror onto your team. The rules are as follows. Fell free to add your own rules and "effects" (explained later) to fit your challenge.
*NOTE: Some of these rules may change depending on what effects you have in play.
1) If a Pokemon faints, it dies.
2) You can only catch the first Pokemon you see on a route.
3) No PC. When a party member dies, you may replace that party member, but you cannot switch your team around. Only replace dead Pokemon.
4) No repels. No running from battles.
5) You cannot heal during battle.
6) Battle style must be put on SET.
7) A wipeout = Game Over.
8) Legendaries are not allowed.
9) When you catch a Pokemon, set your number generator to 1-20 and roll. Whatever you roll puts an effect in play. YOU MUST GENERATE AN EFFECT IMMEDIATELY AFTER A CAPTURE. NO MOVING YOUR PLAYER, NO HEALING, NO SWITCHING, NO BATTLE, NO NOTHING UNTIL YOU ROLL. Keep track of your effects, because some do not apply until later circumstances. The default effects are in the spoiler.
Effects
1) You can catch a second Pokemon in your current area. It must be the next Pokemon you find there. Don't generate another number for the next capture (if you catch this Pokemon)
2) The Pokemon in the third slot of your party dies. If there is not a Pokemon in your third slot, the Pokemon in your first slot dies.
3) You are granted access to freely use the PC on your next Pokemon Center visit, and your next Pokemon Center visit only.
4) The next time a party member gets a status effect, besides confusion, you may not heal it until your reach a Pokemon Center you have not been in before.
5) You can switch your battle style to switch until you beat the next gym or Elite Four member.
6) Buy $5000 worth of items, then toss every item you just bought. (Yes, including Premier Balls). If you do not have $5000, spend all the money you have and toss the items.
7) Your next Pokemon death does not count.
8) Switch your three highest level party members for the three highest level Pokemon in your PC.
9) You can heal in battle during your next major battle*.
10) Swap all of your Party Pokemon for the lowest level Pokemon in the PC.
11) You can revive a previously killed Pokemon. Note: A Pokemon can only be revived once. If it dies again, then it is gone for good.
12) You cannot heal until you reach a Pokemon Center that you have not been in before.
13) You are allowed to run from battle until you reach a town you have not been in before.
14) Toss all your healing items.
15) Team Scramble! (Set up another number generator, from 1-(Y), Y being the amount of Pokemon you have alive. 1 is the first pokemon in your party, and Y will be the last in your PC. For your number order, count Pokemon row by row, not Column by Column. Generate a number for the total Pokemon you have in your team so far. [so if you have three, you'll generate 3 numbers.] These numbers you roll choose who you have in the team) If you do not have any Pokemon in your PC, this rule does nothing.
16) The next time a Pokemon dies, you have to sacrifice another team member. If effect seven is in effect when this effect occurs, your death does not count. However, the sacrifice still must occur.
17) Next time you fail to catch a Pokemon, you get one more chance.
18) You are not permitted to use the Pokemon in the lead of your party until you beat your next major battle*.
19) You cannot purposely grind your Pokemon until you beat your next major battle*.
20) Nothing happens. Yay.
Major battles include gym battles, rival battles, and fights against evil team leaders and admins.
If an effect cannot be applied, roll again. If the second roll cannot be applied, nothing happens.
I hope this sounds like a challenge someone is willing to take on! I am starting my own run of it in Platinum. Have fun, and may Lady Luck be on your side.
