*~* What is Manga? *~*
Manga is Japanese for "comics." It's basically a comic book in black and white and sometimes read from right to left rather than left to right. They usually look like small thick books (alot like telephone books but smaller) which usually reach more than a hundred pages. Some mangas are thin and available in paper backs.*~* What are the Pokemon Mangas? *~*
Currently, there are 5 popular mangas in Japan. They are: Dengeki Pikachu By Toshiro Ono, Pokemon Special By Hidenari Kasuka and MATO, Pokemon Pipipi by Yumi Tsukirino, Pokemon Getto Da Ze by Miho Asada and Pokemon Zensho. There are also some minor Pokemon Mangas. Dengeki Pikachu by Toshiro Ono
Pokemon Special by Hidenari Kasuka and MATO
Pokemon PiPiPi by Yumi Tsukirino
Pokemon Zensho
Pokemon Getto Da Ze by Miho Asada
Dengeki Pikachu and Toshiro Ono
One of the most famous and infamous of all Pokemon Manga Authors is Toshiro ono. His Over Exagerations of "body parts" claimed frustrations to Viz. Ono's manga is the most edited in Pokemon Manga history. Ono's style is very famous in Japan and his storylines give off some "naughty dialouges". Dengeki Pikachu follows much of the anime. This includes Misty and Brock's journey with Ash and some manga appearances from the anime like Ritchie.
Den-geki uncesored Is a good comparison site. However, I warn you, it contains graphic material ;).
Hidenari Kasuka and MATO. Pokemon Special.
One of the best manga in the world (IMO ;)) is written by Hidenari Kasuka and drawn by MATO. Compared to the anime, the story line is very complex and the characters introduce a new format to Pokemon. Team Rocket in this story has its upperhand in Kanto controlling some corrupt Gym Leaders. Antagonists in this manga are in wide arrays. From Team Rocket, The Elite Four to the Mysterious Masked Man. The characters are named after the Versions, however, in Japan, Gary is known as Green and in the US Gary is known as Blue. Every chapter cycles through the different charcaters but in the end, everyone meets each other in the final showdown. MATO's style is sort of Chibi-ish(but that doesn't matter to fans like me) and Kasuka's storylines add a "darker side" to Pokemon.
More to come!
