Ok, so I've been a fan of Pokemon since it came out. I have always been the type of person that doesn't just like to sit through the game and just play. I like to plan it out, making my final team before I get my first Pokemon.

Now that I'm in college, I've started doing more crafty things, building things for school. I've decided that I'm going to build the entire Kanto universe. Every grass patch, every ledge (with elevation), every body of water. I'm going to probably use a layer of cardboard for the base with wood on it for elevation. Holes/grooves will be cut and actual water will be placed in the holes.

A few questions: 1. Does anybody have like a list of all the different types of terrain (out of buildings)
    2. Does anybody want to help me pick materials for this
    3. I just need to post this for motivation.

    woah, sounds amazing!
I'd be interested to see this. Definatly needs a cardbord base... maybe a few layers? depends how heavy the stuff on top ends up being. a plywood board might be a better option?
I'd personally use polystyrene for rock formations and then that kinda 'grass' stuff you can get from games workshop...?
I would be reluctant to use real water, PVA might do it... 'better' as it dries see-through and won't get things wet/get spilt/go funny and rotten if left for too long?

Just some ideas for you :3

    Thanks guys!

Yeah, Trent, I might use styrofoam or something for the rocks. That kind of thing would be easy to carve into to make the mountain more interesting.

I wouldn't use cardboard for the base. It isn't very sturdy, wood would probably be better. I'm very interested in seeing this. And styrofoam sounds like a good thing to use for rocks, and mountains too. I have one question though: are you making it look like the actual game, or life like?

WOW i wish you all the luck
id say somethinking like Blue clay/paint would be better for the water bodies
and gameworkshops would have a lot of enviomental things like trees etc.

or for a super win, make it from lego!

I want to make it basically like the game tiles, but much more life like. A little of both. For instance, I'm not too sure what the "boundaries" of the first route are (to me, they look more like trashcans than anything). One of my friends said it was supposed to be rocks, but I don't know; it doesn't look like rocks at all to me. So, I'm going to find something else that would be better suited to be a boundary (probably a fence in the end) and put that up. For the mountains, I'm not going to make it like the game (to where it looked like the entire mountain was just as tall as you were) but instead try to actually make it look like a mountain.

Eh... maybe you should take a look at FRLG Kanto, or even the one in HGSS, you know, the recent, updated Kanto? You'll find that those childish barriers are now a thick forest of trees on either side of the route. By the way, which Kanto are you going to use? Because if you use the one with the "barriers", it will look quite outdated when ones takes a look at it and then plays HGSS or FRLG and compares the two...
