[Released] Pokemon Pathways (1/19/25: Alpha 9.1.3)

Pathways is the first pokemon fangame I ever played, (I've mostly stuck to mainline games), and this blew me away, it's so unique from the mainline games, and it also has more content and difficulty then usual, which is nice. I do have a endgame question though, how long does the insanity room take from when you beat red to when you beat all of the insane bosses, I want to know if I should try that or work on my set mode playthrough (I know, switch mode is a bit cringe, but the fights were too hard for me on set). To the developers of pokemon pathways, thanks for the amazing game, it made me more open to pokemon fan games.

Greetings. I am glad you had such a great experience with our game!

To answer your question, there are ten fights in the Insanity Room, excluding Red. The difficulty can vary greatly depending on team composition, role choice, and other factors. By extension, it could take you anywhere between a few to several hours. As the room's creator, I never recommend it since it is not a fair challenge by any stretch of the imagination, but feel free to make your own choice.

The battles themselves are quite different from each other. Some are meant to be brute-forced, and others are more akin to puzzle fights. The correct approach is to try a battle, glean as much info as possible, then modify your team to have a better matchup against that specific fight, rinse and repeat. Rewards from Insanity Room can help beat it too. I would recommend catching more Pokémon via Dynamax Adventures to expand your bag of tricks. While not impossible, you will find that using only a team of six is quite a painful method of clearing the room.

Lastly, and thought it is rather anecdotal, if you were to join the game's Discord and post a screenshot of a completed Insanity Room, know you'll get a decorative title (Discord role) on your chat username.

I hope I was able to offer some insight to you. Have fun!

soft reset (f12) not working.

okay so yesterday I was playing the game and I thought about pokemon go, and the evolution methods for split evolutions crossed my mind that being: using the same evolution method but using a stone that caused them to evolve like they were in the region. (ex. the sinnoh stone which makes all new evos from sinnoh posiblle). so one thing i think, if it becomes possible, making things like regional evolutions hold a regional stone as it would bring the environment to them and thus evolve normally into their new forms. i can understand why not to do this but i wanted to get that thought out of my head.

I've been keeping up with this project for a while and wanted to know, is the main story finished? I normally like to wait to a game is finished before playing it (As I don't think I'd have time to help look for bugs and such even though I wish I wasn't so busy XD) but I've heard so much about this game I wanna do a playthrough but don't know where the game would end or how I would know. Does anyone have an answer?

Pathways is a great game, and I really, truly, do enjoy it! I just recently finished Battle Week in my main run, and decided I was going to grind Dynamax Adventures since I wanted to see what I could end up getting, and although I do think it's not made the best, It wasn't the worst thing I've ever seen. Until I got to my first long adventure. Which I'm doing right now, but can't finish because for some reason, the teleport that I need is completely unreachable. I got legit 0 clue how this managed to be a thing that is possible, but it really makes it feel like this part of the game was kinda half-assed, especially since the loot you can get is SO good that it really makes an incompletable run suck even more. Outside of the DA stuff, the game is great! I love the characters, the teambuilding opportunities/moveset changes have made some of my favorite pokemon more viable than before, and winning a hard battle feels REALLY good (I'm looking at you, Born). I'm just hoping that in the future, whether near or far, the DA system gets at least a few tweaks to make it more manageable to sit through. (also please some sort of soft resetting idk how hard it is to code that but it would be the biggest QOL thing ever)

The long adventure is very unintuitive, but it is possible. The gist of it is that you need to go to the nurse with a switch that's locked behind a door. Once you hit that switch, some stuff on the map changes, and there will be a new teleport added on the right side of the map (it spawns on the path that leads up towards the guy that gives items). Go through that teleport, and then immediately go back through the teleport, and you'll be teleported to the area that goes to the boss fight.

Generally, the way the long adventure usually goes is you almost need to fight that one pokemon on the right side of the map that leads to a key, and you need to fight 1 other pokemon that's protecting a key, and then you can go to the nurse switch and fight a 3rd pokemon + the boss. All the other fights are not all that important, but you may want to fight them if you have type matchup problems and need to get different pokemon (or if you just want to catch the pokemon of course). If you're willing to fight both of the pokemon that are defending keys then you can also get the channeler for an extra heart (note that the channeler can't be reached after you flip the switch by the nurse though). Technically there are some other paths you can take, but they're more RNG dependent (you have to go through some of the barriers that require a pokemon with a specific stat trained or a specific type etc. which you can't really count on having), and going through those paths are usually not that great anyway since you'll probably end up fighting the pokemon on the right side of the map regardless if you want to get the 2 treasure chests that you can reach by the tile that randomizes which direction you go, as that tile will sometimes put you in a fight with that pokemon (and you probably do want those chests).

Technically you can also get 2 treasure chests just by fighting 1 pokemon, going to the nurse, and then picking up the chests and immediately exiting the dungeon if you just want to farm treasure chests in a (real life time) efficient way.

Soft resetting is already in for Windows. Press Ctrl + Backspace outside of any menus. As for Dynamax Adventures, they are more than manageable. They can be hard for the non-experienced and have a steep learning curve, but completing them is not a requirement to benefit from them. The difficulty is there to prevent people from getting full teams of Legendaries without putting in the effort. I suggest reading the DA guide if you are struggling.

The story is very far from finished. We were focused on gameplay elements up until 9.0, which was the point that marked the addition of some story elements for each route, but they were not all given the same level of detail yet. Some have more polish than others. A lot of rank specific side content has yet to be added too. You could say that the story stops upon reaching S-rank for now, but several (very rough) proof of concepts were added past a warning message for those who wished to play longer.

We wish to be as faithful as possible to the mainline games when dealing with Pokémon evolutions, and we only stray from that line of thought when faced with technical difficulties or simply unreasonable requirements. As such, I am afraid we cannot give a positive answer to your suggestion. However, all Pokémon still remain available thanks to Dynamax Adventures and Max Dens; so, you should not be missing anything as long as you know where to search. There is a Pokédex guide in the Master Guide specifically for this purpose. Thank you for your input.

Help, it's only day 0 and I'm already stuck. I chose Lygn as my mentor and then I chose to explore on my own but now I can't find him anywhere. I try to go to my room but it says I need to find him in the cafeteria and he isn't in any cafeteria nor anywhere else so idk if it's a bug or what.
thats wrong cafeteria the right cafeteria is right there straight ahead
