Loryn straightened up as she heard Seth's sarcastic voice ring in the hallway. She turned to eye him up and down. A snide smirk covered his lips as he commented on her nervousness about her upcoming battle. Iruko's words hung in th back of her mind. No matter how much she wanted to slug Seth across the face, it obviously wasn't the right way to handle this situation. She'd get back at him. Eventually.

Instead, an equally sarcastic grin crept it's way onto her face. "Nah, I'm good now," Loryn sighed nonchalantly, brushing away some invisible dust on her shoulder. "Thanks for the concern though. I can tell it took a lot for you to come out here. Now-" she swung one leg over the other, flipped her hair back, and turned to give Seth a devilish look. "What do you really want?" Playing the b**** card was kind of fun, even if she felt the tiniest twinge of guilt at it. Ah well. She was having fun with it. It was better than being pissed off, right?

  • Raising a brow Seth put his booted foot back on the ground as his arms dropped to his side. He did not lose the smile he sported, though. The look on Loryn's face almost matched his as she replied, so suddenly, too. 'Damn that Iruko guy is good,' He paused dumbfounded at how easily Loryn was able to read through him, maybe just dumb luck, but he doubted it. "Well I didn't come to ruffle any of your feathers...surprisingly enough." He couldn't help his eyes trailing off to the side, but only for a moment. "I actually came to...uh...th-thank you." Seth uttered the last words like they were poisonous, as his cheeks started to glow. 'N-no way...!' He forced himself upright. "You know for standing up for me...though I know your not really on my side either." Seth thought long and hard on his next words before letting them out.

"Hey, how about if you win...I'll show you what it is that I really do...Believe me it would be worth your time." Seth felt his face burning brighter. "And if you should lose, though I doubt it...you gotta give me that private performance you promised." He instantly felt his face cool down after finishing that, but he managed to hold his gaze on her, even as intimidating as she was right now, 'what switch did that Iruko guy hit?'

Loryn raised her eyebrows as Seth thanked her...Wait, he thanked me? She was dumbfounded. He didn't seem to be lying, due to the slight reddening of his cheeks and the way he stuttered his words, but she found it hard to believe him still. "Oh, er, it was nothing. Really," she laughed it off, though inside she felt weird. Shouldn't I be happy Seth thanked me? I mean, that means I won, right? But her victory was short lived. She didn't really feel much of anything, aside from the shared awkwardness Seth was emitting.

Her grin returned slowly as Seth placed his offer. She felt herself relax as he did with each word. "You've got yourself a deal," Loryn agreed with a wiry smile, "I'll be sure to win, just for you." Her tone was joking, but it began fading as she noticed how serious Seth was. He was holding her gaze in a way that made her want to look away, but for some reason, she couldn't. So she sat there as her words trailed off, looking quietly at Seth and wondering what was going through his mind.

  • "O-okay, then I wish you the best of luck." Seth spoke calmly, minus the initial stutter, he was just surprised that she actually accepted. "Truly, show 'em all what you got!" He gave a quick thumbs up to her, but instantly turned his back and moved slowly towards the door. 'What was that?! So unlike myself...but somehow, it felt right...I should have said, well then can't wait to see you lose...maybe I am just an arrogant bastard.' Seth stopped just before leaving the room that led to the hallway back up to the observation area. He turned his head to the side not looking directly at the girl behind him. "For real...thank you..I'm glad it was enough." He didn't give her the chance to say anything back, he was embarrassed enough as is, especially after the awkward way she staired at him after her response.

Returning to his seat he was instantly questioned by his Fire companion. "Meleon?" Seth held back his blush as he looked away from his Pokemon, "She's fine...definatly gunna give us a show during her battle." He returned his sight to the battle at hand, as Charmeleon shoke his head, knowing that something happened in the locker room moments ago. He could sense it obviously off his trainer, but didn't pester any as he to continued to watch the tiny fox Pokemon stair down it's opponent with sheer determination.

  • A smile crept onto my face at the last words she said as I left the locker room.

I looked at the battlefield and I was surprised that the new comer was already up. Is that an Eevee against a Jolteon? What is he thinking?

I took a glance to the side of me, I noticed Seth wasn't there, but when then I heard him say thank you in the locker room. An even bigger smile on my face formed.

So I was right after all. Seth really isn't that bad. I tapped my foot on the floor. Then it hit me, I recalled Seth's appearance. He had a robotic like arm on. He's a snagger!

I almost ran in to talk to Seth, but I didn't want to interrupt the conversation between him and Loryn. Then Loryn's words echoed in my head. You're like a ray of sunshine in this gloomy place.

In truth my firest real goal was to investigate the shadow pokemon and free the Orre Region from them. That was my goal, she had hit the nail on the head, but it was different.

She is the true sunshine in this gloomy place. If it wasn't for me wanting to make sure she and her pokemon were safe in these battles, I would have run blindly after my sister. Loryn... Loryn probably saved my life today. Even if she didn't know it. And maybe she can break what is making Seth the demon's pawn...

After a few minutes, I heard Seth return. What he said made the biggest smile on my face. The last time I had smiled liked that, was when I gave my sister her Shiny Vanillite.

Loryn bit back a laugh at Seth's thumbs up, and nodded. "I won't hold back," she replied with a quick grin as he made his way back to the observation area. She however didnt follow, and instead gazed up at the tv bolted above the lockers that showed the battle going on in real time. She turned to Seth as he mentioned his thanks once again, and noted the sincerity in his voice. A small smile formed on her face that was now beginning to turn a little pink. You're welcome, she thought, as the other trainer had already disappeared into the viewing room, leaving her without time for a response. Her eyes wandered back up to the television, and her chin fell into her hand as she began to watch the unfolding battle once again. Loryn tried to focus her thoughts on the little Eevee onscreen, but her mind kept wandering back to the way Iruko and Seth had just previously treated her. Maybe she was wrong about everyone here. Perhaps the tough guy act was just for show.

  • I won't hold back the last words he caught from Loryn before closing the door. 'Did she say that on purpous? Seth cast his eyes to Iruko for a second, curiosity started to get the best of him. Seth sort of wanted to know what he said to Loryn to get her to react the way she did, and also, he kinda wanted to start another casual conversation, already. He figured he'd have to practice, either way Loryn's battle goes, he's got a 'date' set up with her. Iruko kinda had the expression that he too wanted to chat about something, if only while he pressed back into the viewing room. Seth motioned for the man to come over, he wasn't exactly sure how to start the conversation, but he remembered that the Iruko guy was also amoung the most understanding of the group.

  • Chapter 9: Round 1! VS Fier! Pt.2:

Max soon realised the reality of what was happening, at first Max wasn't that determined to win the tournament, but now, if he didn't win this battle Eevee could get seriously hurt. A shiver was sent down Max's spine. For some reason Max cared for this Eevee as much as his own Pokémon, but this made Max feel glad. As the battle continued, Fier commanded his Jolteon to use a Quick Attack. Jolteon did so but stopped before making contact with Eevee. But then, the Jolteon used Double Team, surrounding Eevee with about nineteen copies of itself. They began to close in on Eevee as a strike of fear shot through him.
"Eevee, spin around and use Sand-Attack, quickly!" Max called out. Eevee did so, revealing the real Jolteon, wiping the smile off of its face. The Jolteon got up close and, with its claw, scratched a gash down the side of Eevee's face, the electric Eeveeloution still against his trainer's orders. Max gritted his teeth.
"Eevee, get back! I don't want you getting hurt anymore!" Max yelled out to Eevee. But Eevee shook his head and stayed on the battlefield as if he had something to prove. Worry spread over Max's face as this happened. A drop of Eevee's blood hit the ground and Max felt his pain from within, but then felt Eevee's determination as well.
"Alrighty Eevee, let's win a tournament!" Max yelled in a confident and determined voice. "Start off with a Quick Attack!" Max commanded Eevee.
"Jolteon, dodge!" Fier commanded, only to be ignored. The yellow dog Pokémon swiftly used Double Team once more.
"Now down!" Max commanded, as Eevee dug into the battlefield. Jolteon maintained the smug look on his face. Eevee popped up and down attacking every Jolteon copy, until. Eevee landed a hit, hitting Jolteon up, and into the air.
"Great Job!" Max yelled out to Eevee as he smiled at the small, dog Pokémon. But then the smile was wiped off of their faces as Fier yelled across to them:
"Jolteon is about to use Shadow Bolt! Watch out!" Max and Eevee looked at each other in dismay, Eevee faced the Jolteon bravely even though he was scared for his life at this point. Max tried to coax Eevee to come back and they could forfeit, but no, Eevee wouldn't budge. The Jolteon looked at Max, right in the eye evilly. All of a sudden, just as Jolteon was about to attack, another burst of air was released from where Eevee was standing. Just like the one from when Eevee was being attacked by the Beedrill. Max and Fier were both knocked off of their feet and the crowd's hair was ruffled. Max looked and Jolteon had been thrown back by the air and into the wall that separated the crowd, from the arena. Fier returned the Jolteon to its Pokéball as Eevee continued to hold its ground and bleed. A medical team rushed into the arena to take Eevee to be healed. Fier sent out his last Pokémon, a Dragonite. Max pulled out one last Pokéball and sent out his Emboar, Ember, as the battle continued.

  • My ears prick up slightly as I hear Iruko's lecture upon the subject of Yin and Yang, which also represents good and evil to those not accustomed to Japanses culture. However that's not exactly what takes me by surprise, it's the energy I've been feeling all this time, like a bag full of bricks has been placed upon my back and perhaps thats why I'm so angry. One though instantly comes to my mind though, and it's the image of the scientist in the black cloak with his twisted face. I cringe at the thought of it but soon find myself out of my seat. I'm not exactly saying anything, but I'm definately the centre of atention at the moment. I try to figure out what I'm trying to say.

"It's not the arena. I quickly look at Seth to see if he understands what I'm at least trying to suggest, since he was the only one tyhat truly witnessed what I can do at the outskirt stand, but I want to just scream it out to clear my name of any and all doubt. My mind however doesn't it is holding back, but I trust it, and let it hold back fora moment utill IO give up and drop a hint.

"We aren't alone." The words are cryptic, so anyone could either take me seriously or as a fool. Luckily there's only a few I can see are completely clueless, that's the 3 trainers around that I haven't bothered to meet and greet yet, but the rest look at me normally. I feel like saying everything I know but then that will kind of give away that I can see these demon spirits, but I want it to seem like a hunch, something I had just made up on the spot to signify a meaning to all of this.

  • I caught Seth motioning me to come over to talk to him, but for the moment I was busy watching the fight. I watched the battle as something happened on the battlefield, that I wasn't sure what it was.

"What was that?" I wondered to myself.

I saw the medical team rush out on the field to get the Eevee and the Jolteon was recalled.

At that moment, Yuki said something that caught my attention. At that moment, my theory was correct. We weren't alone, that was indeed true.

I turn to where Yuki and Seth are behind me. Yuki was standing up and looking around. Then I notice that there was only a hand full of people who didn't understand what he was talking about. At the moment, I did not know what to say. Nor did I know if it was a good time to talk to Seth about him being a snagger. For a moment, I could sense uneasiness in the air, but I let the moment pass. As I continue to look at Yuki, Seth and the battle at hand, I notice that another Dragonite was on the field and an Emboar.

In my head I wondered one thing, If the negative energy is evil, perhaps these... demons would be weak to Fairy Attacks or Fairy Pokemon. I push the thought aside for the time being. I will ask Yuki later, because he seems to know a lot.

As I thought about this, something else caught my mind. If my sister had her cell phone and could, perhaps, freely use it; why in hell did HQ not let me know? Why weren't they able to track it when we asked?

Loryn was oblivious to what was happening in the observation room as she sat on the bench in the hallway by the lockers, focused intently on the battle on the tv. The Jolteon continuously defied its trainer's orders, which Loryn noticed with a frown. There seemed to be something almost sinister about the little yellow dog Pokemon, but she couldn't figure out what it was.

She was slightly surprised when Max's opponent yelled across the field, warning of Jolteon's next attack. So he does care for Eevee safety, Loryn thought, gazing at the bleeding fox-like Pokemon that had refused to be withdrawn. Suddenly, a gust of air exploded seemingly from out of nowhere that knocked Jolteon away and ruffled the spectators' hair. What...Was that? she thought, her fingers digging into the bench as Jolteon was returned and Eevee was carried away by medical crews. Max's opponent sent out Dragonite, his last Pokemon, while Max revealed that he owned and Emboar.

  • The sudden rush of spontainious air was deflected by the glass, but Seth raised his hand as if it were comming anyway. He quickly returned to his calm demenor, and looked up to Yuki as he stated, It's not the arena...We aren't alone. Seth looked around the area seeing the spectators and Trainers alike. "Well obviously," He shrugged sarcastically. But then got to his feet. "Uh-yeah, I know what your talking about though." Seth covered his rude remark almost instantly. He closed his eyes a moment then opened them again. Shimmering a lime green, but still he didn't see anything, yet he knew that Yuki spoke the truth. 'That Science ****!' Seth screamed in his head, but outwardly remained calm .

A medical team escorted Eevee from the arena as Fier's Jolteon was called back. Seth had the instant urge to snag the Jolteon from it's Trainer. 'He's got no right to use a Shadow Pokemon.' Seth monologued checking out the final match between Max and Fier, Emboar VS Dragonite. Not a truly good match-up for Max, but as this tournament clearly showed, type advantages didn't make much of a difference.

Seth then again thought about his words, hoping that they were the ones Yuki was searching for. Could he see the man? Though the others couldn't? Seth remembered back at the Outskirt Stand, that Yuki could tell that the Muk-Beast was there before anyone else.

  • Seth's statement was sarcastic in a way that kinda hit me hard on the shoulder. But at least he understands. However I think he is indicating for me to elaborate on my theory to the rest of the group. i try to think of the easiest way to explain the situation but all I can think of is technical terms.

"Seth," I say calmly. I know what he is probably thinking as he seems to say this a lot.

"Yes it's that damn scientist." I've heard him say the phrase 'that damn' so many times now it's unbelievable how I remember these things. It's all the little annoying things I pick up which sometimes leave me to judge people, however I should stop doing that for the sake of my time in the arena. I must keep my mouth shut and stop being ignorant.

I snap back to reality again.

"Unfortunately I think I'll call it quits tonight. I'm afraid I have some unfinished business to attend to concerning a certain person," I say with a slight harshness in my voice.

I then walk out of the room without waiting for a reply, but I walk slow enough to allow them to talk.

  • Seth listened to Yuki clearify that it was indeed the Scientist that he was hinting at. He even refered to him as 'damn scientist,' Which Seth found to be slightly odd, but it didn't draw too much of his attention. But within the next moment after seemingly zoneing out for a second, Yuki announced that he was calling it quits for the night. Seth watched the man leave announcing that he had some unfinished business to attend to concerning a certain person. Again a shocker to Seth. "Wait, say what? Your leaving now? Why the sudden rush?" He called after him, but stayed in his position at teh edge of the seats. "What do you know that we don't?"

  • What do I know that they don't? Lots of things. The scientist being a demon, and Yuki being from another world. Funny how these things are coherent to each other. In fact, they knew barely anything, except Seth knew that there were demons. If onyl he knew what this world was coming too.

"Not much," I say shrugging my shoulders, "I got questions too, and I'm as clueless as you all" That's a lie In truth I know everything. I know what's happening and what's too happen in the future.

The awakening of Maya is soon to happen yet nobody knows a single thing.

  • Chapter 10: Round 1! VS Fier! Pt.3:

Max was now strongly determined to win for Eevee's sake. There was also something else that made Max want to win, a feeling inside.
"Ember, use Heat Crash!" Max called out to the large boar Pokémon. Ember ran towards the dragon and lunged upon it, thrusting himself down, while engulfing himself in fire. Max smiled as the Dragonite somewhat flinched, though not dealing too much damage.
"Dragonite, Rain Dance!" Fier yelled as a grin spread across his face. Max's grin disappeared, but soon to be replaced by a larger one. After a few minutes of rain, Max commanded:
"Ember, now use Wild Charge!" He did so, and successfully landed a hit on it, dealing serious damage.
"Dragonite, Fly!" Yelled Fier, and the Dragon disappeared out of sight. Ember looked around frantically.
"Behind you!" Max yelled at the Emboar, before it was bashed to the ground.
"Now, Slash!" Fier commanded next, as the Dragonite slashed Ember with its wing. "And again!" he called.
"Ember, grab Dragonite's wing and then use Head Smash!" Max called out. The large boar Pokémon did so, smacking the dragon to the ground. Emboar and the Dragonite both gasped for air as they were extremely tired. A look of worry spread over Max's face as he realised this.
"Ember, use Focus Blast!" Max commanded as Ember delivered the final blow to the Dragon, before it was recalled to its Pokéball.

Max soon recalled his Emboar to its Pokéball as he ran, back into the viewing room and through an array of corridors, until he found the medical centre. He handed Ember and Fezzy's Pokéballs to the nurse before heading over to where Eevee was on a small stretcher. Max stroked Eevee's head. The feeling he had felt in the battle earlier, grew stronger. Max's love for Pokémon Battling had returned.

  • "This may not be the best place to talk about things." I direct my statement at both Yuki and Seth.

"There are people here that may cause a great fuss over it. I don't know much, but I know enough to know this is not the place." I said again leaning up against the wall with my arms crossed looking down at the floor.

"I do have a question for you, Seth. But again, I do not wish to speak of it here. After the first round however, I would like to talk to you. Don't worry, it is nothing bad. I just have a few questions that may help us both... well me mainly. But I am sure we can work something out." I said looking at Seth.

I looked down on the battlefield and caught the ending of the current match. The one named Max, with the Emboar had won.

  • Seth simply huffed at Yuki's response, but didn't stop him any taking his seat once again. Yuki apparently had something to do, that was really important, so there was no point in getting in the way. Seth caught the end of the battle with Yuki's friend Max, who instantly rushed to the medical center near the entrace to the Colosseum claimed as the victor.

"Excellent finish by Emboar! Max is the winner of the Seventh Match. Now let's call our final two of todays competitors to the arena. Loryn VS Kikiro!" The announcer did his job.

Seth adjusted his position and watched the entrance to the arena from the locker room, figuring Loryn would be obviously entering from there. He then heard Iruko speak from behind him. Seth turned his body to face the man. "Oh, really. I thought you had something on your mind." Seth spoke his words returned to their normal snarky tone. "I've got a question for you too, that concerns only me." He added.

  • Chapter 11: Where'd Yuki go?:

Max stared down at the small fox Pokémon, rubbing its head gently. Soon, the nurse came around the corner and gave Max his two Pokéballs back. Eevee soon came round, and jumped up to lick Max's face. Max could very faintly hear the announcer call out the next competitors 'Loryn and Kikiro'. Max looked up at the screen to see the familiar face of the girl who owned the Vaporeon. Max started up at the screen for a few seconds until Eevee tapped on Max's shoulder. Eevee seemed to be trying to ask Max if they had won the battle, Max responded with a quick nod before standing up.
"You ready to go back to the viewing platform and see the battle and Yuki?" Max asked softly. Eevee replied with a nod, before jumping onto Max's arm. They continued through the corridors and finally found their way back. Max opened the door, before falling face first on the floor.

  • "Then it is settled, sometime after today we need to talk." I say nodding at Seth.

I hear Loryn's name being called over the speaker. I also here the name Kikiro.

Well isn't that an odd name. Please don't let it be a evil trainer or something... I ponder on what I might do if the battle goes too far. Ah, who am I kidding, she is probably stronger than most think, in fact I know she is. She can handle herself. Hell she probably could even be stronger than me.

There was a ruckus around me, but I didn't really pay much attention to it. As I was more concerned for the safety of Loryn, the girl who reminded me so very much of my sister.
