I'm looking for a rom edit that has character costumization in it if possible.
I know pokemon prism had some but koolboyman hasnt finished the game yet.
pokemon reborn has "some" but its very limited cuz u only got two choices for each gender so i really dont know.
What's the best one for trainer costumization?

What about every other hack that has you pick a gender at the beginning of the game. O_o

Anyway, if you're looking for character customization (something like X & Y) you won't find it. This would be extremely challenging to do at the moment because it would require you to overhaul all of the player's sprite frames to whatever the player wants their character to look like.
I'm not knowledgeable about JPAN's Fire Red hacked engine, but I believe there's something in there that lets you change the player's sprite, but I don't believe it's possible to customize your player with it.

Since some of the player's data has unused bits concerning gender, it's definitely possible. You'd just need a lot of OWs that fit your needs and stuff, but it's not impossible. And yeah, JPAN's asm would help you there.

I'm quite new to ROM hacking, but I felt this would be the right place to ask my question, since it's quite similar to the original post.

Would it be easier to allow the player to choose from a set of outfits (after selecting gender) or choosing colors?

I suppose that's not the most informative way to ask. Allow me to elaborate.

What I'm asking is concerning the development difficulties. Also, I'm asking in regard to Fire Red hacks.

Would it be easier to create 2-3 outfits for each gender, or create 10+ colors of the same outfit?

Also, how difficult would it be to implement such an option? I know that there are a limited number of multiple choice bytes within the ROM, and from what I've read it's nearly impossible to add more. This part doesn't worry me so much, it should be fairly simple to change one of the choice boxes to accommodate this feature. I'm more worried about the actual sprite mapping.

Would it be possible to add a filter to change the colors based on the player's choice, or would you have to change the sprites each individually by replacing other sprites in the ROM?

If this is not a good place to ask, please inform me of the best place to ask.

Thank you for reading and have a nice day,
    ~Prixy
