Ahem, hate to burst your bubble....Emerald beat him. Therefore he doesn't exist solely to make Red look good. Although he's possibly there to make him look taller :P

    Although I still prefer Red.

    ...ok seriously people.
Can we stop with the random one-liners in the club?

Also, it would also be nice if you guys can talk about the HG/SS arc or an upcoming B/W arc in spoilers.
I know it's really early for B/W discussion, but you never know what may be true or not.

@Amore: You have a point. Red isn't invincible. People tend to forget that.

ALso, it's almost the end of the month, which means a new chapter of the HG/SS arc may appear soon. I'll keep my eyes open for such details.

Was that directed at Netto? He is a mod after all. Besides, they have higher authority than owners...

I sort of got that feeling that Red was invincible, until the FR/LG arc, where he had the awesomest nervous breakdown I've seen in a character who's so confident in his ability to battle.

That has to be one of my favorite scenes in Pokemon Special EVER. You could practically feel the emotion on the pages, and Red became a more relatable character than ever before.

    What, no.
    It was actually directed at the previous posters. oo;;

I thought that was a pretty interesting breakdown.
He started to lose confidence in battle because first, he felt that strange feeling from Deoxys and thought it was fear, then he started to think that Prof. Oak didn't think of him as being worthy of a Pokedex anymore.

Yeah, that scene was awesome. Don't forget, he was pretty much soundly defeated prior to the Yellow arc (granted, it was cheap, but still)
I didn't really count that as a defeat.
    It was more like cheating.
Poor Bruno was just used as bait.

True. He started showing some more character development too. He had his moments too, at the end of the RBG arc, but it was only for that arc. He pretty much didn't develop his character again until the Fr/Lg arc.

Yeah, he wasn't really defeated. More "mugged" by Lorelei and Agatha.

That fr/lg scene is really good...I like listening to Muse Exogenesis Part 3...that piano part just goes with the whole drama of the scene....

Did anybody else like/feel sorry for Gold during his sort of "breakdown" in the end of GSC? I felt really sorry for him.

Yeah. Mugged is a better word.

I felt bad for Gold too.
first in Vol. 8, he had trouble even convincing Prof. Oak to give him a pokedex (granted, he was just kinda demanding for a pokedex, but still...).
    And then at the end of the arc, when he thought he had no special ability to contribute to helping in saving Johto, I felt bad for him. Until his Pichu egg hatched. ;w;

Speaking of Pichu....what happened to it?

I think he needs to evolve it and Totaro....twice each.

    And, uhh...is Totaro's nickname "Tobo"??

I liked it cuz, he's all like "The sky is falling! It's all over!! Oh noes!!" and Green tries to slap some sense into him before giving up. Great scene. In fact, I loved all the scenes with Red and Green in FR/LG. Much closer bonding than we've seen before.

Eh, yeah cause everyone had their abilities respected by Oak, but Gold believed Oak didn't find him worthy of any ability. Which, certainly was not the case.

who is Totoro? do you mean Togetaro if so nah he should stay a Togepi for ever the same with Pich.

That scene when Redsan hug Pika that scene was the best scene in Special since Poke boobs and when Redsan told everyone to enter the Tournament.

    What?

Also, mugged is a good word for that.

And yeah, that was a sad scene. I was also extremely sad at the end of the FR/LG arc. I was like WHAT!?! THAT IS HORRIBLE! Immediately began reading the Emerald arc and was pleased with how that turned out.

I had the exact same reaction!

Sadly, I disliked that arc...but lets not go into that now..it's been repeated once already.

I actually like the bit where Electabuzz is zapping Red......especially how "it's so mean it doesn't go into its' pokeball" is coming from Team Rocket....roflmao.

And then when Poli somehow overcomes its' electric-weakness and wups Electabuzz....

I don't really think Pichu will evolve.
It has that lil baby role cause it hatched from the egg of Pika and Chuchu.
That wouldn't be that cute if they're all the same stage (and Pika and Chuchu sure will not evolve)
Neither i think it'll ever get a nickname, since "Pichu" actually is its nickname and was given by Yellow.

Togetaro might evolve. It'd be so cute and awesome if Gold would have a Togechik/Togekiss in his team. On the other hand he is the Breader, so baby pokemon suits him good :|
They might call it Togebo or something. I prefer their japanese names anyway

I can agree with you on the nicknames part...

I was hoping it could become a Raichu...and what Yellow did was confusing...she kinda named the pokemon, but also named the species......

Togekiss would be kick-ass, but there is something about a Togepi that specialises in pseudo-legendaries/pokemon belonging to Lance (Tyranitar and Dragonite).

There's a reason that Tajiri has called this the closest thing to his imagining of the Pokéworld out of anything. It's frickin' awesome, and the (human) characters are relatable in some sense. The anime has it to a lesser extent, and the games don't really have it at all.

This is the main reason I love this manga; it's extremely well done. (I'm still waiting on Volume 33 though...)

The games is what started it all, though. Tajiri meant to say that what the manga depicts is what he imagined it to be. You couldn't show all that in a game--at the time.

Yeah. And now you can't show it because they'd have to raise the age ratings, losing half their audience brought in by the anime:P

To avoid being a one-liner like *ahem* nobody in particular :P no offense, does anybody have any Hg/Ss news?
