About the parent thing, I'm wondering how they're gonna explain with Red considering in the games he has a mom. And for that matter, where the heck are Green's parents in all this? I mean, you let your kid go off to go train with an insect with blades for hands in a faraway region when he's about five and then go off on a Trainer's journey without saying hello? Not to mention the fact that he got nearly killed more than once and saved the world from Team Rocket and a job all before puberty (which is hilarious). And that's before he got petrified. Same thing with Yellow's parents.

But I agree, it works for the manga so as long as they give the 'rents a good personality, I ain't complaining.

argh, id post more but i can only attach 5 files at once... sorry for lame post. on the characters parents... we dont really know much of gold's past either. with his personality, i could EASILY imagine him as the most convoluted of them all~<3 i thought a while ago that since his dad never showed, maybe gold had some kind of majorly traumatic experience with his dad. like something happened to him when he was little that made him sorta afraid to be any way other than the way he is... *sudden mental image* ok, its sorta funny to imagine how silver would react if he found out gold had a darker, more twisted past than he did. since it says in frlg that he wishes he had a home like golds. sorry for boring you with my ramblings.

Ah, glorious, wonderful fanart <3 The world needs more of these. As for the topics on parents, I really don't have much to say on that. To be truthful, I never really thought much about their parents, other then the ones that have appeared (Blue's parents = whut? Norman = pure GARness and Gold's mom made me LOL when she just allowed Gold to go running off on his adventure without worrying even the slightest bit, in the beginning of the GSC Arc) Of course, it would be interesting if the plotholes of their parents would be filled. I'm wondering who Silver's mother could be, someone with red hair? And I can't imagine Gold's past being so dark, since he was surrounded by Pokemon since he was young and was in turn, showered with companionship and love (at least, that's my interpretation)

*Platinum arc*
-Platinum is having a hard time fighting her own pokemon, while Dahlia is winning.
-Platinum is about to give up, but remembers that there aretwo very important people to her, who are trapped in the Distortion World. (<----- O: )
-Looker goes to find Buck at Start Mountain and finds Buck defeated and Heatran is awake.
D: oh noes.

*Diamond and Pearl arc*
-Platinum wins the Beacon Badge. (yay~)
-Dia sneaks into the Galactic building
-Pearl reaches the building too and sends Chatot in to find Dia.
-Cyrus sends Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn to Mt. Coronet, and is suddenly attacked by a Spiritomb.
-SUSPENSE!

So, on the topic of the Dex Holders' parents... Yes I agree, I'd like to know who Gold's father is.. and Crystal's! I wonder if he's as interesting as her mother... If they talked about him already, then I haven't read it yet (I only know the basic outlines of most of the arcs... and I am a slow reader when it comes to Japanese).

Also, I found some really cute fanart which I hope I can post... soon. (I still can't link to anything, sorry!)

No, it's a common trait. ;) Parents help with plot devices, actually, by giving another look/opinion on a situation. But they're totally useless if they do what Blue's parents do. >(

Oh man... the dialogue in the viz editions is... entertaining to say the least. (God/Arceus only knows what new and evil lame titles will be given to future chapters as well as horrid puns)
Still I'm just happy to have a chance to obtain copies of pokespecial so I can deal.

Completely agree with you peaches I thought the accent added more to his personnality and frankly saw it as a nice touch.

As for backstories well will have to wait and see if the writers incorporate something on someone's (prefferably Red) backstory.

Some of Viz's dialogue either makes me laugh or makes me want to throw the book out the window. It goes from punny to laaaaaame.

Bill! Why did you lose your accent? Were you tired of not being taken seriously?

I dunno, Bill seemed a lot better when he had his accent. Like what other people said, it added to his personality.

Backstories...like I said earlier, give Red a backstory. And Gold. Don't forget him.
