Let's just start off with a little introduction, shall we? Anyways, I'm a fairly new RP'er and I so far have been a part of two. Both of them died early on, so I decided to take matters into my own hands. This is my first RP I've made, so don't put your expectations so high.

Anyways, this is a Mystery Dungeon-ish style RP in that you do, in fact, play a Pokemon. And since I am such a D&D nerd I'm going to try to emulate that play style here. What that means is that you will basically have the freedom to do whatever you want in what will mostly be predetermined scenarios. Now, that we have that out of the way let's introduce.... the plot!

    The Story

    Back story

You are a Pokemon of the country of Kholv. It is one of the three main countries based in the Piesk Desert area. Kholv is in the center, and about eighty percent desert, to the east there is Zeme, and to the west there is Sovbod. The north and south are two very smaller and less significant countries: Cerne to the north, and Jezera to the south.

    Landscape of the countries

As previously stated, Kholv is mainly desert, especially in the middle of the country. To the western outskirts there is mild plains, the far north has the foothills of the Horz mountain range. From the northeast to east outskirts there is mainly plateaus with small areas of grasslands and forests in the lowlands. The southern edge is also mostly desert. Kholv is by far the largest country in the area, but most of it is uninhabited.

Zeme is the main areas of grassland and forests. To its northwestern border lie foothills to Horz, the very edge of a few plateaus that are mostly in Kholv. It is also one of two countries to have access to the sea, with the border to it being in the east. The south is all swampland, except in the southwestern portion.

Solvbod is the second largest of the countries, but nothing to Kholv. Solvbod is all plains for about half of it, the east side having them. In the south lies various rivers. North, once again, is mainly mountainous. Here, it's mainly sheer cliffs and steep slopes, highly uninhabited. To the west there lies various other countries that those in the Piesk area don't really pay attention to.

Cerne is home to most of the Horz mountain range, a harsh and unforgivable spine of rock. Nobody knows for sure what lies beyond, as few have ever gone beyond the Horz, fewer have returned.

Jezera is very similar to Kholv, except it has no mountains to the north. It is the second of the countries to have access to the sea. Its main features are its various rivers and the mysterious Jezero Lake. A large fresh water body in the middle of the country.

    History

Centuries ago, one country from far north and across the sea came to the area. At the time, all of the region was settled by various nomadic tribes. Once the newcomers arrived, they started claiming land. Both Solvbod and Zene were taken at roughly the same time. The treacherous desert in the Kholv area separated the two.

Next, Jezera was taken by the people of Solvbod for its water connections. Zene asked the people to surrender the land to them, for they were in control of Solvbod. However, the people refused, they were outraged that Zene would propose to take from them the land they captured themselves.

However, Zene was at the advantage here. When diplomacy failed they simply cut off resources to Jezera and Solvbod. They planned to starve and torture the people until they gave in to the demands.

Solvbod was stronger than expected. They began to revolt. Not even the attempts of Zene could hinder them. When even Zene's cut off failed, they decided to fight Solvbod both for their land and their loyalty, even if it meant killing all who opposed.

Once again, Solvbod was far stronger than imagined. After many bloody battles, Solvbod had prevailed. Now enemies, the two countries vied to conquer the Kholv and Cerne areas before the other. However, when the began the struggle for Cerne, they found something they didn't like.

They found horrible dark monstrosities. They were savage creatures. They looked like ordinary Pokemon, but they knew not any form of communication or anything besides fighting. These things were already in territorial wars against each other, these newcomers were just another contestant in the free-for-all.

Even when working together, the two countries could not prevail. That is until the natives of Kholv banded together and helped one another to defeat the dark creatures that had now passed behind their rocky container. The people had already fought these foes before, and drove them away with ease.

After the battle, Kholv received independence and the two fighting nations made a peace. Secretly, however, they still yearned for the possible hidden secrets that may lie in the middle desert of Kholv. Which, to this day, have not been uncovered.

    Currently

There has not been much struggle between the nations ever since the early days. Cerne has been left alone for the most part, Kholv is still independent, and the two countries of Zene and Solvbod have yet to work together once more.

Even politically, Kholv is mainly independent, except with Jezera, the country's only true allies. Solvbod is even more withdrawn from the rest of the world than Kholv, and Cerne even more yet. It is Zene that is most politically active, having heavy allience with Jezera and sometimes even Kholv.

Until now, most was quiet, even the great desert seemed at ease, even the black mountains showed no signs of disturbance. Until recently, reports are starting to get odd. Communications to Solvbod have dropped to nothing. The few trading parties that went there recently have been reported missing. There are even some reports of military movement over the border. This looks bad for Kholv, which doesn't have a strong military. If war breaks out, people will have to choose a side. You might have to as well.

    Additional Rules

    - This is a medieval/fantasy setting, only with less magic. So no advanced machinery, perhaps some crude devices that could happen with no or little electricity and under some logic could work. [could be made-up logic, but don't get too crazy.])

    - No bunnying. At all.

    - I will provide the rough outlines of towns, routes, ect. You fill in the details.

    - No recruiting NPC companions unless you ask me and I say you can.

    - No taking control of major NPC characters. I will say who is and who isn't an important character. I will also handle any NPC enemies or major allies. As such, I will most likely not make a character for myself. Essentially, I am the DM

Hey there everyone. As a player of both Pokemon and D&D, I'm immediately intrigued.

    Pokemon Species: Tyrogue

    Name: Ellis Burton

    Age: 23

Appearance: Hands are wrapped in white bandage, similar to fingerless gloves. Wears a white and red trucker's cap and a large backpack.

Occupation: Retrieval specialist. (Finds and obtains items or people, even from dangerous areas such as the desert.)

Personality: Ellis is open, friendly, and highly optimistic. In common with most young men, he is a risk taker and believes himself to be indestructible. He is also easily distracted, and likes to touch and take things.

History: Born is the mountains of Cerne, Ellis lived a harsh, primitive childhood. In other words, a typical, happy life for a Fighting-Type. Following Hitmon tradition, Ellis left home as a teenager to forge his own path. He wandered into the desert, blissfully ignorant of the dangers that lived there. He didn't find any trouble, and emerged days later with a pack of trinkets and relics. He found the city of Hranc, where people come and go all the time, and everyone has smething to offer. Ellis now lives on the streets of Hranc, selling items he finds and accepting jobs to find lost items or people, a job that lets him come and go when he wants, and do good things for people he's never met.

Yay, I got a Sign up! Anyways, everything seems to be in order but just two things:

If it is of no big deal, would you mind playing as a Tyrouge at first? Evolving into a Hitmonlee in due time, of course. Secondly, could you please elaborate on the history just a tad more. It's not that your Sign Up is bad or anything, it just needs a little.... more. If you know what I'm saying. Other than that you'll be in.

    Pokemon Species: Torchic

    Name: Fiona Fiere

    Age: 20

Appearance: The feathers on the top of her hair have a black bow tied around them, and she wears a solid silver anklet on her left foot as a reminder of her family.

Occupation: Assassin (doesn't go after the innocent, only the evil and corrupt)

Personality: Fiona is surprisingly loud at times but when she's working she's silent and stealthy. She believes that no one should hurt the innocent and if she witnesses someone innocent being hurt the person who hurt them is in for a world of trouble. Her saying towards the evil and corrupt is If you can't beat them, hurt them and she has a temper as fiery as she is.

History: Fiona grew up with her loving mother Tish who had evolved to a Blaziken shortly before she was born. Leaving home at 15 after her mother died Fiona meet a group of assassins and joined them training for years to protect the good from the evil. Traveling around for the next few years helping the people who needed it in her country Fiona found herself where she is today in Hranc awaiting orders on what to do about a corrupt trading official.

Well hello there. :) This is my first RP, not sure if you want a newbie in here or not, but hey, a girl can dream ;)

    Pokemon Species: Riolu

    Name: Ari Dimadova

    Age: 20

Appearance: Wears one gold hoop in her right ear. The mask around her eyes is tattered at the edges and dyed yellow from her more rebellious years.

Occupation: Mail carrier. She ventures out across deserts mostly to deliver mail to smaller villages. If she can help some pokemon find a lost item or such along the way, she's happy to do so.

Personality: Quiet and cold, she keeps to herself most of the time. Not many pokemon have had the pleasure of hearing her speak. She's extremely talented with music and always carries a wooden flute that she uses to lull enimies to sleep.

History: Abandoned by her strict, no-nonsense family when she was twelve for being too rebellious, Ari ventured to Hrac and was apprenticed by a flute maker. She moved into a small orphanage for girls, but later ended up on the street for attacking an older pokemon who tried to tell her what to do. She took to stealing small items of little value from stores to sell so she could support herself. When she was eighteen, she began working at the post office, and currently lives in a small shed behind the building.

Okay, Liliana, you're accepted. Just be sure to PM me what you have in mind for your venture against the tradesmen.

Alinie, you are also accepted. Just one thing, just add in one little part into the history of specifically how rebellious your character is. Is it to the point of the morally wrong? One would be left to assume if one's parents were to abandon a child on those grounds. So did it pus your character to the point of villainy, or a villainous act of sorts?

I'll start editing the main post now. Also, forgot to post gender in the SU, whoops. But no matter, it can be inferred. So you guys don't have to edit if you don't want to.

Gotcha. I hope what I put in the history now is enough...?

No problem at all. Everything looks good now so you're accepted.

In other news, I'll probably be posting the first outline of Hranc either later today or tomorrow. From there you guys will be free to post.

Also, Lilliana, make sure to PM me the details of that mission.

Are there still SU's being taken? And also, if the SU's are open, do non-evolving Pokemon count as 1st stage (aka Corsola)? If they aren't open...then I'll feel stupid xI

Sure, they're open. And yes, they do count, as what I meant by 1st stage was really unevolved so a Pokemon that doesn't evolve would be counted as first stage in my book.

On a side note concerning SU's, I plan to have around 6-10 people anyways. I feel that that's a good enough number that the stories will be diverse and more than one person posting, but also low enough so you can keep track of all of the characters. Ideally, I am aiming for around 7.

Awesome! ^_^ Ok can I reserve an SU spot? I'm not sure if I'll have time tomorrow to fill it out (though I might) and I'm pretty busy Saturday (though I still might find time then) but at the latest I'll have it up Sunday; is that alright?

    Okay, first outline here.

    Hranc

This city in the southeastern portion of Kholv, only a few leagues away from the borders of Jezera and Zene, is incredibly large and has a large population as well. There are multiple housing areas, mainly in the northern area. But many prestigious estates, mainly owned by successful tradesmen, lie in various places normally close to the place of business of the owner.

The city is all sand and desert. As such, it is very hot year-round. Most people like to stay inside because of this and also because of the small sand storms that are frequent. Most people native to the town are Ground, Fire, Rock, or other types that can stand high temperatures. However, the vast amount of visitors, travelers, and merchants make the population diverse.

Due to its location, Hranc is a prime trading city. Obviously, local merchants and traveling salesmen make most of their money there. They are known to set up stands and park their caravans in the southeast portion of town. Because of the vast amount of visitors, the taverns and inns are very profitable. The most noteworthy of the inns is the Shrouded Swallot located in the southwest area of town, it is also the largest of the inns.

The postal service also does well, with various notes having to be sent. Mainly, these notes are regarding shipments and dates when supplies will be available. Otherwise messages calling for shipments are also popular. The office itself is located in the southernmost part of the city. It is a rather large complex with countless couriers being sent to and fro daily. Often, these messengers will cross the borders to the neighboring countries, and even travel through those a few miles.

However, because of all the business and travel, crime is rather common in the surrounding area. The city simply can't afford to protect every one of the many roads leading out from Hranc. The most common reports are raid and other forms of theft, most of the time not violent. Since most caravans are guarded anyways, any successful thieves use hit-and-run tactics. That is, taking what they want, and then running off to some sort of hideaway.

    Pokemon Species: Seviper

    Name: Bryce DaggerTail

    Age: 22

Appearance: I can't really picture a snake wearing anything...but he has a lot of purple and yellow scars, with a particularly thick one that run across his right eye.

Occupation: Govermental Bodyguard- he's hired to protect politicians as they travel between cities and such.

Personality: Bryce is often judged to be vicious and sadistic simply because of his imtimidating appearance- his many scars, giant fangs, menacing tongue and razor sharp tail- and because of his violent reputation of mercilessly attacking enemies when unecessary. But the ones judging this are sorely mistaken. He is an extremely loyal Pokemon, and he will fight to the death to protect his loyalties. So he will make sure that his country's politicians are transported safely at any cost, and the stories of his heroic deeds are often published in a bad light. But he's a friendly guy, and has a very warm sense of humor which he manages to keep in alarming situations, demonstrating his calm temperament.

History: Bryce hails from the northern foothills of the Horz. He lived in a Seviper clan there, his father the head chief. They fought a constant, bitter war with the Zangoose tribe in the area, which is where most of his scars are from. Just when it seemed that the clan of Sevipers had the war completed and victory was in sight, a huge assault of many types of foreign Pokemon (led by the Zangoose) drove the snakes out of the mountain. Bryce developed a strong loyalty to his own country then (and a strong hatred for foreigners), and so ended up in his bodyguard position. He is currently waiting for a job, and so is settled in the city of Hranc, where the majority of his jobs originate from since many politicians reside there. From the war he developed very keen escaping and combatting skills which makes him excellent in his profession.

Okay, you're accepted, just not yet. There are only a few issues with your SU.

    1. No fire breathing. Maybe trap making or something else like that, but no fire breathing.

    2. If you would, just add a tiny little portion to your history concerning how you got to Hranc. Be specific, but it doesn't have to be lengthy.

I'm not trying to be mean, but could you please fix those?

(OOC:It appears as if I'll also be making the first actual, non-SU, post of the RP. Since I'm acting as DM, I will post from many characters perspectives (all NPC, of course.) and be able post things about the environment and what not.)

Its a incredibly hot day today. Worst of all, its dry heat, no moisture at all. Without wind, too. The sand that makes up the roads is still, only obscured by the movement of feet. It is mid-morning, and most of the city is getting out on to the streets for their daily life traditions. No caravans rolling into town, most wait until late fall to early winter until they set out. This spring heat, and with summer fast approaching, is not the right time for traders to do extensive travelling. Despite the heat, the streets are already packed, and noisy.

    Gramon Derricks

A Cacturne (non-controllable NPC) walked down the long main street of Hranc. He was darker in color than most of his kind, especially in his especially long and sharp thorns. He wore leather shoulder pads, and special black boots that no ordinary person could name the material. Little did they know, that the boots were actually specially made to reduce the sound of footsteps. One could've guessed that, had it not been for sound of shuffling feet already in the area. He walked briskly, and with a serious expression on his face, and a determined look in his dark yellow eyes.

Behind him walked a team of four Cacnea, each similarly clad. People passing by assumed they were a team of explorers. The Cacnea had similar expressions and also walked faster than normal, but fell behind the Cacturne due to their thorn-shaped feet.

Cacturne leading, they walked down the main north road until a few blocks after the Shrouded Swalllot tavern and inn. They came to a intersection, trailing off to the west in a poorly constructed and barely used road.

They walked onward passed the western back alleys of town. Gangs of trouble-making teenagers were known to be prominent here. But these gangs really weren't too strong, few, and never caused any real trouble. The few that saw, and the even fewer that heard, the group didn't dare bother them, they looked far to powerful to mess with.

The group came to a stop at a run-down looking building. It was made of dark grey stone, and looked nearly exactly the same as any other building in the alley. The Cacturne looked around, as did the Cacnea. Their eyes could spot anything for rather long distances, even in low light. So, when nothing was seen, the leader knocked on the door in a specific pattern.

There was a moment of silence. Then, a small portion of the door slid open, revealing two small eyes. The eyes were separated by brown fur, and small metallic grey circles could be seen in a vertical line in the middle of the face.

"This is our home, you are not permitted entry." a gruff voice said from the inside of the building.

The Cacturne took out something from a pouch on his belt. It was a necklace, with a very designed coiled up Arbok hanging from it. The Cacturne put it up to the slot, making sure the eyes could see the Arbok.

"Gramon Derricks." the Cacturne said, "And my company." he continued, turning his head to the Cacnea. He then muttered some words in a language that no common person used. To one educated in it, however, they would know that he simply repeated what he had just said.

The slot closed. There was a ruckus from behind the door, several locks being undone. The door opened. In the doorway, stood a large Tauros with a large mane around its neck, larger than most Tauros had. Behind it was a rather luxurious and well decorated room. There was a unlit fireplace and many tables in the room. Some might have mistaken it for a eatery had they not known better.

"Chief's in her office." the Tauros said, knowing why the Cacturne had come.

    "Thank you." Gramon replied.

Gramon was well versed in where the many rooms of the Assassins Bureau led. He walked into the one he knew to be the Chief's office. There was a large desk with many papers and other documents, and a Genger sitting in the chair behind the desk. Without lifting her eyes, she addressed the Cacturne.

"Derricks." she said, her voice was one of an adventurer, one who had faced many trials and traveled long distances.

"Karina." Gramon replied, not being under her leadership and being of a high enough rank gave him the authority to address her on a first-name basis.

The Genger lifted her gaze from her many assorted documents.

"I assume you are here for Fiona." said Karina, more stating than asking.

    "Indeed." Gramon responded.

"Very well." Karina replied. "You know where to find someone to get her." she continued.

"Yes, farewell." the Cacturne said, leaving the room.

A few moments later the team was in a side room filled with various Pokemon. Gramon chose to approach a Sandslash he knew rather well.

"Ah, Gramon. What may I do for you?" the Sandslash with on chiped claw on its right hand asked.

"Greetings, Amon. I need you to find Fiona Fiere and bring her to me." Gramon told the messenger.

Without question, the Sandslash swiftly departed. The assassin team took lounge in the main room after he had gone. They talked amongst each other as they waited for his re-arrival. Hopefully, followed by a Torchic.

(OOC: That's all I'm going to post for right now. I promise to post something concerning the other members soon.)

OOC: But by firebreathing I meant he learned Flamethrower :3 is that alright..?
And 'k, I'll edit the history; sorry I forgot about that part :P

I know. But for Seviper Flamethrower is a TM only move, and considering how there are no TMs, I don't like it. Even if Seviper does have the potential to learn it, it doesn't naturally. As such, I don't deem it possible to be done without use of TM, which there is none of.
