Pokemon: Storms on the Desert [PG 13]

Montolio Dremugar

Montolio was several meters away by the time Mellock proposed the thiever. He didn't hear the question, and supposed that the young thief was sill running with him. When he wasn't by his side Montolio realized just how inexperienced the Cubchoo was.

He turned back around and went in search of it. Hopefully, the young one would reunite with him soon.

Mellock grabbed a few berries and some gold pieces. He saw that Montolio was looking for him and shot back. "Sorry, I just...But in seven years this is the first time I've gotten caught, and I just wanted to pull off a succesful theivery to cheer myself up." He gave the man an apologetic smile. He hoped he would understand.

Montolio sighed.

"Still just a kid." he muttered under his breath.

"Fine, let's go. And no more interruptions." he said, taking off once more.

"Alright," said Mellock, trailing behind Montolio. "Umm...so...where's your shack? Is it near a guard towr, so that you can stay out of their sights, or is it farther away?" He really wasn't interested in any of this, but he felt like making small talk to the trip would go faster. But then he had an idea. He started to tell Montolio about his life. He knew it would probably be annoying to him, but he needed to tell someone. He was starting to get tired, and he'd gotten that sudden burst of energy from Montolio earlier...so he focused all his energy on running, shutting up for a minute, and just brushed the man's skin. Then Mellock shot ahead of Montolio, but not before a shudder. He had hated bugs ever since he could remember, but this was different. He was a fellow theif, and had helped him. So, he owed him. But not by being a burden. If he was going to travel with the guy, he had to be polite.

"Not much further." he said as the two breached the eastern gate, through a secret route he knew.

In due time, the duo reached an inconspicuous spot in the sand. Montolio knew exactly the spot. He walked to an unmarked spot, and brushed away the sand. It revealed a wooden door. He opened it, inside was utter blackness, but as soon as the two got in he planned to light one of his many torches.

"Come in." he offered, pointing at the hole in the ground. "We'll continue our conversation in there."

"Okay," Mellock said. "But how are we going to see? It's pitch-black!" As soon as he got in, he couldn't see anything except the light coming in from the hole. He started again from where he left off after he needed more energy. Hopefully his speedy rescuer was listening; he needed someone to know what had happened to him.

Ari passed the village gates and glanced around. Nothing but desert, as far as the eye could see. She lifted a paw to sheild her eyes from the harsh glare of the midday sun. If she continued straight, she'd make it to th village in record time, but would have doubled her chance of running into theives. And theives didn't like it when you had nothing worth stealing. She adjusted her satchel again, a nervous habit, and hung a left.

Montolio entered the hole. Knowing exactly where they were, he lit a torch and placed it on the wall. It revealed a small, mostly dirt and stone room. It only had two doors, not counting the trap door that was the entrance. Most of the floor was covered in sand.

"You were saying?" Montolio asked.

"Nevertheless, you still leave my first question not completely answered. So I will ask again. What is one such as yourself doing stealing, and why here?" he questioned.

"Well, I really don't have anything or anyone, to answer the first question. The second, I just figured; it's a giant trade place, so I thought I'd slip in, take a few things, and move on to the next big city. That's what I do. But every so often I stop in a little village to throw everyone off." It felt good to say that, Mellock decided. He felt he could confide in this guy.

"With the way you performed today?" he asked.

"You won't make it out of here acting like that. Anyone could've seen you break in that place had they a mind to, plus you are easily sidetracked. No. You won't get anywhere in this line of work." he sighed and paused, he didn't want to hurt the kid's feelings, but he had to tell him bluntly.

"Even if you did get out and continued about your plan, you will quickly amass too much attention. Even in small towns, you'd be hard pressed to not get caught. Bounties would go out, authorities would be on the hunt, most likely advised to kill on sight if it got bad enough. And if you can get caught by just one person so easily, you wouldn't last a day against entire teams of people actively searching for you." he continued.

"You see I wou-" he cut himself off, he got too comfortable with the Cubchoo, and now he was about to tell the kid about his life of thievery.

"I would just stop now. Sure, you got lucky with me. But next time I can guarantee you won't. There's still hope for you. You can just go off to a different town, and start new. What are you good at?" he asked, hoping to get the subject off of his past.

"Well, uh...I'm fast, and I can sneak around. At least, with what you just told me, I think I can..." Montolio had really just discouraged him. He'd been pulling off successful heists for years, and now a superior thief was telling him that he was no good. "And I can talk all day if I want," he sighed. Apparently he was no good...

Ellis's smile wavers for a split second as he weighs his options. Not good not good. I barely have that much. I don't think I can haggle any lower, either. And I'm not gonna fight this guy. Ah, screw it. "Sounds like a bargain. I'll take it." He digs through his pack, finding his money bag. "Hope y'all don't mind if it's a mixed bag." He counts out 125 in gold and silver, handing it over. "Pleasure doin' business with ya."

Hranc Desert (East)

"No no, pleasure's all mine." he said with a smile, tossing the necklace to Ellis as he took the money. He counted it, and seemed satisfied.

"Now get out o' here." he said. "This be our land, and ye be trespassin'."

Montolio Dremugar

Montolio sighed. They were all skills of a thief. Montolio could already assume that he had been at this game for a few years now. At first he thought there was a chance he could save the kid from the rut he is in. But his optimism was fading.

"How long have you been at this?" he asked.

Durrin

(This is for Alnie.)

Durrin was rather close to Hranc, but also pretty different.

In size it was smaller. This was probably because because it was cut off from most of Hranc's main roads. Everything is significantly less robust and grand than in the trading city.

In a way, it was almost a slums. The only true residents of Durrin are those who can't afford residence in Hranc. Since most of the people are poor, most of the business is bad. Some established businesses do well enough, but most new businesses were impossible to get started. Charline probably chose her suppliers here because it was relatively cheap.

Surprisingly, the crime rate is actually lower in Durrin than in Hranc. Fact of the matter is, nobody wants to steal from Durrin.

Charline's suppliers are already in sigh of Ari Dimadova. And it is only about high noon.

"Seven years," he replied. "My brother helped with all of the early heists, but four years ago...he left. Never saw him since then." He saw Montolio was getting annoyed. And Mellock was getting sad. He hadn't thought about his brother in such a long time...

Montolio Dremugar

"Sounds way too familiar." he said under his breath.

"Well," he said after a pause, "looks like you got yourself in the same rut I'm in." he said, with a hint of a chuckle behind it. "So then, what do you plan to do now?"

Ari glanced around nervously. She had completely misjudged the distance from Hranc to Durrin, and she could already see the building where she was supposed to drop off the order. "Huh." She muttered to herself, pulling the letter out of her sidepocket, "That was fast." Ari walked towards the building.

When the Whismur didnt ask him for any help, Althalos left the inn to continue browsing the city. He went to a forge and looked around. He bought some throwing knives and a smaller dagger. He kept walking around, looking for some one who needed help or for a wanted sign. He soon found a sign. It had a picture of what seemed to be an Accelgor. There was 100 gold bounty. A hefty price for a just a thief.
"This should be interesting." Althalos said as he ripped off the poster for safe keeping.

Ellis catches the necklace, putting it in his backpack. He tips his hat to the Mankey as he leaves. "Sorry fer intrudin'. Maybe I'll see ya again."

Oh man, that was a close one. I was worried I'd have to fight that guy. That Miltank owes me some money now. How do I say it so as not to offend...? He turns back to town, hoping to make it before nightfall.

Althalos cornered a thief. The pokemon had stolen his coin bag and Althalos had been chasing him relentlessly and finally trapped him in an alley. After he got his money back, he still wasn't satisfied. He looked the thief in the eyes and threatened him. He showed the wanted poster with the accelgor on it to the pokemon.
"Do you know where he is? Because if you don't, I'm sure there is some sort of price on your head, and if there isnt, I'm sure that the others who you robbed wouldnt be missing you."
