Pokemon Sun and Moon Hopes and Speculations!

Having the Champion being completely unknown with very few vague hints throughout the game given to you...

Spoiler:

I honestly wish that this was what happened in X and Y. It would have been really cool.

My hopes are:

More in depth story, copy what BW did.

Doubles grass

keep all shiny methods and rates the same as gen 6

more rival battles

hard mode option

given the gym leaders and E4 more story focus.

More detailed plot

Wrap up the ORAS and XY plot lines

bigger and more unique over world( which seems to be the case)

Return of last pokemon gym leader theme

Every leader gets a mega after they introduce the mega ring

and lastly evolutions to past pokemon. Megas are nice, but I still want regular evos.

I'll agree with this. I was quite disappointed in Gen VI only have Sylveon, and one of my biggest gripes with Gen V was the complete lack of link to previous generations. It just doesn't feel like Pokemon if it doesn't tie into previous generations in some fashion. I'd like at least four or five evolutions or pre-evolutions of past generation Pokemon in these games, to provide that solid link with the past. It gives a nice sense of continuity.

I love so many of the ideas that everyone before me said! The one thing that stand above all else for me that I hope will be implemented is having some connection to the Kalos region and being able to travel there, a la Pokemon GSC and Johto/Kanto. Those games are my favorite ever due to the awesome postgame and being able to fully travel Kanto. So if that happens in SM, I can safely say that GSC will have some competition at the top.

I had hoped that we would've gotten a teaser trailer or at least the mascots, but ehh...

- First priority, Dark-type Gym. 'Nuff said.

- Sorta hoping that this might be the Johto-version of Kalos, for the sake of giving Zygarde some closure and availability of its Formes in at least a post-game. But, an all-new experience is something I'm more than willing to look forward to. Interesting tidbit, but an NPC in Anistar City(a Hex Maniac I believe?) mentioned the existence of "moondials". Sundials and Moondials, eh?

- Those titles and logos are now officially my favorite out of the whole series. Freaking gorgeous, I hope their box mascots are just as awesome.

- The logos and Magearna are giving me steampunk-space-celestial vibes, ala Disney's Treasure Planet.

- There seems to be a space-celestial thing going on with what we can gather from the titles, even the space art in the lettering background. Was the Delta Episode the tip of the iceberg? As in, will we start having battles in space environment more often? OH GOD, IMAGINE BATTLING ASTRONAUT TRAINERS ON THE MOON!

Let see --

--- A New "Pokemon World Tournament"

--- Pokemon Contest returns

--- Red appear as a NPC to help the player in a side-quest.

--- Dunsparce's Evolution

---Megevolution for all Starter.

--- A new process where you can fuse 2 mega stone of Charizard to create One single Mega Charizard.

I can see them definitely adding a new World Tournament, since its looking like its going to be a much bigger game. Hopefully a nice post game island chain will be good too.

I recall the PWT was one of the most loved parts of B2/W2, so it'd be nice to see it return with more Gym Leaders, and maybe even Elite Four members could join the lineup this time around.

As for me I would love to see a return of the PWT. This was one of the best ideas Game Freak has ever had.

Other than that I would like to see the complete removal of the necessity of HMs. I mean, how about "assigning" a certain Pokemon to every HM without them needing to take up slots in your team, kinda like it was done with Latias/Latios in ORAS.

Also a good postgame would be nice (like HG/SS or BW2).
I know, people wish for it every time a new game is announced, but getting to return to an older region postgame like in Gold/Silver would be one of the greatest things ever!

Oh, and lastly I hope that they keep the amount of legendary Pokémon small and don't go completely insane with the numbers. *cough*gen4*cough* :D And no more Mega Evolutions, please...

Having all these things would be great, but we'll see.

The main thing I want to see these games do is break established formulas and try something different. With slight variations, the games have pretty much been following the same basic formula since RSE:

- Get flung into a brand new region with no connection to any of the others

- Many of the new Pokémon are obvious expies of earlier ones (like the regional birds, Pikaclones, etc.)

- Few Pokémon from previous gens are available before the postgame

- Mascots are a competing Legendary Trio, at least one of which is Dragon type

- Plot centers around brand new Evil Team trying to use one of the Box Legendaries to take over the world

- Opposite gender player character appears in the game as a friendly rival

- Champion is a friendly older mentor figure who first appears in the middle of the game to help you against the Evil Team

- Final showdown against the Evil Team and mandatory Box Legendary encounter happens exactly between the 7th and 8th Badges

- No postgame beyond legendary hunting, battle facilities, and possibly a few islands

And, so on...
Why should Sun/Moon have to follow this same basic formula, especially when the last new games (XY) did nothing but reveal how tired and overdone it was? Like, why can't the new region be directly linked to Kalos just like Kanto and Johto were? Or, why can't we see the return of Team Flare instead of drudging up yet another brand new "Team _____"? And, does the plot REALLY have to center around a competing Legendary Trio all the time?

And, why waste Pokédex slots on new expies of old Pokémon when you could just instead use older Pokémon to fill those slots and focus on fresher and more original concepts for the new Pokémon. Like, do we really need another Pikachu when we already have the original, plus Plusle/Minun, Pachirisu, Emolga, and Dedenne? And, we now have 6 gens' worth of cocoon bugs, why do we need any more?

I'm sure this is all wishful thinking, but to me, the big 20th Anniversary release needs to be something other than a formulaic retread of the same basic ideas we've been seeing for almost 15 years now. Sun/Moon need to be far more special games than, say, DP or XY.

I think there should be an option for the main character to punch other trainer/buildings. I know it very unlikely since it's probably gonna take a crapload of programming, but who knows?

Programming isn't the issue. The fact that it's aimed at kids makes it pretty unlikely. Unless you mean like rock smash on smashable things then I don't think we're going to get that sort of thing in these games. There's always the punching bag in Gen 6? :)

One thing I wish they add in Pokemon Sun&Moon are scooter istand for bicycle.
I'm getting tired of bicycle since we add bicycle in all Pokemon games.
And the next are option to buy our own house where we can rest and train pokemon.
the last are new TM/HM and your rival/friend would follow you through your journey.

I really hope that we don't gotta wait until E3 for more info like I have seen several people in the fandom suggest. That's too long of a news drought and kind of unrealistic IMO.

Although... now I'm starting to wonder, because of Pokemon GO's VGC presentation for this month being cancelled. They strongly hinted at GO having some sort of compatibility or connection to the main series games when GO was revealed, what if developement problems with S/M is the cause of this cancellation?

That is an interesting theory... I don't know if GO is meant to have a connection to Sun & Moon, given GO seems to be a smartphone app, while S/M is a full-fleshed main series game. I heard the cancellation was so the developers could focus more on successful beta testing.

A Dark-Type Gym, preferably 7th or 8th in the league.

A difficulty option accessible from the start of the game.

A Battle Frontier; the PWT could be located within it.

An underground and base system, similar to the one in DPP.

The game takes place simultaneously with X & Y. The post-game allows you to travel to Kalos, and triggers the beginning of a storyline similar to X & Y, but incorporating Zygarde, effectively acting as a "Pokémon Z."

The return of Pokémon following you.

The return of character customization.

A Key Item that you can teach four HMs to ("HM Doll").

A gripping, thought-provoking story with complex characters and lore.

I want an NPC to appear on the boxart, along with the mascot. Who the NPC would be would be heavily dependent on what the plot entails, but I think it would be nice to have an NPC on the boxart for once along with the mascot (even if the mascot wasn't a legendary). (For example, maybe a special wrap-around boxart with the mascot and one of the protagonists on the front, and the villain and another appropriate Pokémon on the back, as if they're ready to face off against each other.)
  • Going off of this, HGSS effectively had two boxarts because the game came packaged with the PokéWalker device. If Sun & Moon were to contain some sort of external device (maybe the Pokémon Go watch-like thing, since apparently Go is meant to connect to the main series in some way?), the outermost box could have a "special" boxart like the ones I've described, while the boxart for the game itself would have a more standard, Pokémon-only design.

There are other things that I think would be fun little bonuses, but I think this is a good starting point for things I really, really want (read: think should be included) in these games.

Pokemon walking by your side like Soulsilver/silver heartgold/gold.
A hard mode option like Pokemon BW2. (Maybe gives tough trainers like E4 Champion etc. good IVs, Good nature and good EVs.
Old Shiny appearance rate. (Too easy to find them these days)
Evolution to former Pokemon instead of mega evolution. Still waiting for dragon type eevee and a poison one ;)

Ah yes it's so annoying how we've now had an Electric-type Gym in five out of six regions (only Johto hasn't had an Electric Gym). It's making me think that Game Freak are heavily obsessed with the Electric-type for some reason.

The thing is we haven't even had an Electric type Elite Four member yet. So if they wanted they could do that and give us a break from Electric type Gym Leaders.

Another type I feel is overused in gyms is the ice type...and they're usually near the end which is embarrassing because they're usually total pushovers.

I do hope we get an Electric-type Elite Four member, since it's like one of six types that an Elite Four member hasn't used yet, plus it would stick to Game Freak's obsession of putting an Electric specialist in the games.
