What I mean by this is 3 Pokemon types that are strong to one of the 3 types, and weak to the other.

    Like this.

Fire is strong against grass and weak to water.
Water is strong to fire and weak to grass.
Grass is strong to water and weak to fire.

Now for my pokemon fangame, I don't want the basic Fire, Grass, and Water starters, but I still want a type triangle. Are there any other type triangles not including the water, fire, and grass type?

    Psychic, Fighting, Dark
    let me think of another
    Water, Ground, Electric

    Psychic, Fighting, Dark

    Water, Ground, Electric

    Thanks, helped me a lot.

I probably won't use the 1st one though, since Dark has an immunity to psychic, instead of just a resistance. Thanks a lot though.
And I dunno about the 2nd one since it has the water type in it.

    What about Ice, Ground, Steel

Do you like this one? I think its actually cool

0_0 >_< you posted the biggest mistake ever. That isnt a triangle. Availible triangles are these:

The only possible starter triangles (i.e. three types that are weak to one another in a rock-paper-scissors fashion and the same with resistances in reverse) other than the traditional Fire/Water/Grass are Rock/Fighting/Flying, Fire/Rock/Steel and Grass/Poison/Ground.

Thank you dragonfree for having this text on the internet so i can copy and past when someone makes that mistake. So yeah those are the only ones.

Like said above, Triangle Types need not only to be Super Effective against the other type, but also resist it.

So that's why Ice, Ground and Steel doesn't work. And neither does Water, Ground and Electric

Since I would prefer not to use any water/grass/fire types, I am just going to go with Rock, fighting, and flying.

I know I will use Machop for fighting, and I have an idea of what to use for flying, but what would you suggest for rock?

well, Geodude since its one of the only rock types with three evolution stages, or Larvitar.

Rock-fly-fight may not work either, since there are no pure fliers (Bar arceus) and as such will carry a second type, which could wreck this trio's synergy. Just make sure the second type is not Resistant or weak to either of the others or it will create an unfair advantage.

The only 3-stage rock type Evo lines would be Geo/Graveller/Golem, or Rhyhorn/don/perior, bar the Tars who are slightly too strong for a starter to become imo. Geodude certainly has the most humble stats, so go with him.

    Fighting, Ice, Flying.
    Rock, Ice, Fire
    Electric, Ground, Water
    Fighting, Psychic, Dark
    Fighting, Flying, Rock
    Grass, Bug, Rock
    Grass, Poison, Ground
    Grass, Fire, Ground
    Grass, Flying, Rock
    Grass, Ice, Rock

can't think of any more :S

Flying/Fighting/Rock is the only one over there that could work. You need to remember Type Triangles need also to resist eachother.

Ice doesn't resist Flying, and Fighting doesn't resist Ice.
Ice is weak against both Fire and Rock.
    Water doesn't resist Electric.
    Dark is immune to Psychic.
And the major flaw in your other suggestions: Grass doesn't resist Rock.

I wasn't aware of the fact that all the types needed to be strong against that type and resist it. :S

And I made the mistake of doing Rock/Ice/Fire, should have been Ground instead of Rock, which doesn't technically work either.

It's a two way thing, otherwise one starter gets a distinct advantage.

Here is a good triangle you should use:

    Grass-Fire-Water

It is the best triangle ever and will make your game more popular than Naruto.

If you want the low side, I guess...

    Dark-Fightng-Psychic

You'll have to be creative to work with that one.

I think I have decided to go with Fire-Water-Grass.

    But new starters.

I think I am going to go with Magby for fire, Poliwag for water and Seedot for grass.

I dont think Poliwag is a good choice because it has branch evolution.

Ice, Ground, Rock is another one. I like it, since Rhyperior, Tyranitar, and Mamoswine are three possible starters (though Mamo can be neutral to rock)

But Empoleon isnt resistant to Fire and Torterra isnt resistant to water so that does not matter much

    Rock/Fighting/Flying, Fire/Rock/Steel and Grass/Poison/Ground.
Again there are only 3 that work. How hard is it to get that through. So i would go with number 3. Grass poison ground. Why? Dunno but the thought of diglet/sunkern/ekans is really nice.

Thats because they are two typed. Empoleon is Water/Steel, Torterra is Grass/Ground. If they didn't have the second type, Empoleon would resist Fire and Torterra would resist Water.
