What do you think about the new type combinations? And what do you think about the other typings of Unova Pokemon - do you think any could have been improved to suit the Pokemon more? If so, which ones?

Your original post didn't really lead to much discussion - and it was information we already knew, so I added a few discussion questions to see what everyone thinks about these typings. :)

Personally, I always loved the idea of water/ghost and fire/ghost from when I first heard about them... which makes me kinda sad there isn't a grass/ghost :( At least we get ground/ghost! But yeah, dark/dragon is pretty awesome too, although competitively fighting is common so it necessarily isn't thaaat great. Still, some really great new typings this generation. Oh, and Samurott should've been fighting/water D<

Scrafty has the most bad-ass typing of the new critters, but it's a shame its movepool and stats didn't really live up the possibillities. Volcarona and Chandelure also have really good typings, and it's nice to see a Flying-only Pokemon. In fact, out of that list above, none of them really suck all that much either. Even Stunfisk, for all its mockery and PC themes and April Fool's joke value, has a pretty cool type, at the end of the day. I'm still hoping for some weird and wonderful type-combos (like Fire/Water or something), but I'm happy with the evolution of the franchise (heh!) so far in this area.

I feel like they could have used Dragon/Fire on a....better Pokemon. I'm a big fan of actually showing the typing in the design, and I don't feel like Reshiram did a good job of that at all so they could have used that typing on a much better designed Pokemon.

And by now I think everyone knows how I feel about Volcarona. :x

Samurott could also have fit as Water/Steel due to swords being made of iron.
    But still,I would love a Jack-O'-Lantern pokemon tht's Ghost/Grass ^_^
Many other typing would be awesome too ^_^

It was really new to me when I saw Larvesta/Volcarona's type: a Bug/Fire-type Pokemon. First of all, Bug-types are weak against Fire-types and the game combined the two contradicting types which is really awesome for a Bug-type Pokemon. :D

What do you think about the new type combinations?: I like some of the new type combinations, like Ghost/Fire, Dark/Dragon, Water/Ghost and Bug/Fire because I wanted those type combinations when B/W were still being made. Grass/Steel is a cool type combo too.

And what do you think about the other typings of Unova Pokemon - do you think any could have been improved to suit the Pokemon more? If so, which ones? : I think Braviary should have been Fighting/Flying because of how its fighting spirit is mentioned in its Dex entries.

    Sorry,guys.
I had to remove Tornadus since there's another Only-Flying Type,Arceus.
And,by the way, weren't Snivy,Servine, and Serperior be Grass/Poison Types since they're snakes? I forgot to put Darmanitan(Zen Mode) there.

I just wanted to note that Arceus was a normal type. It wouldn't be a flying only type unless it was holding a plate, so Tornadus is still the first flying only type.
Also I wanted to point out that Kyurem is a Dragon/Ice type, not a Dragon/Electric Still a first so it belongs on the list.
Also a type that I want to see is a Normal/Ghost
I am fairly positive that it will never happen since it would be weak against bug and dark types only.I wee bit too powerful, but a neat concept none the less.

My favorite type pairing is Victini's Fire and Psychic. Both Fire and Psychic are my favorite types and for over a decade I wanted a Fire/Psychic type. Plus, Victini is so dang cute. I just want to hug it. Also there's Darmanitan's Zen Mode, but isn't the only way that's activated is in a sandstorm?

I like Kyruem's typing. His portrayal as an ICe/.dragon is really great.

Of the ones listed in the original post, I think my favourites are Bug/Electric, Fire/Ghost, Dark/Steel, Bug/Fire and Dragon/Ice. I don't know why, they're just intriguing. Particularly the latter two, 'cause one of the types is weak to the other. I know that's not the first time that's been done, but still.

The ones I'm not so keen on are Normal/Grass (why?? I just don't see the point) and Grass/Steel (double weakness to Fire's gotta be a pain!).

Steel/Fighting isn't new btw - Lucario. Well, that was Fighting/Steel, but still the same thing.

Samurott could also have fit as Water/Steel due to swords being made of iron.

I agree that Samurott would've suited Steel as a secondary type. More so than Empoleon imo.

    You're right......I just deleted Cobalion.

Some of the type combinations are really good and compliment each other incredibly well like Dark / Fighting.

This is my post for the 26th November, Kaori.
