When I think of Pokemon Types that compliment eachother, I think of Pokemon with types that cover eachothers Offenses and Defenses. Although there are some Pokemon with types that DO NOT compliment each other well.

Starting with 2 ones that compliment eachother!

Electric-Flying AKA the type with NO weaknesses, While offensively this type doesn't do as much together, Defensively it makes up for it. Electric only has ONE weakness, which is ground. Flying Types are IMMUNE to ground. Also, all of the types Flying is weak to, Electric resists. So you have no weaknesses at all.
This type is pretty poorly distributed though, only Zapdos, Thundurus, and Oricorio Pom-Pom come to mind for this type.

Water-Dragon is more simple to understand, In terms of Defense, this type still isn't the greatest, it only has 2 weaknesses because Grass and Electric two types water is normally weak to, Dragon resists. It also gets a 1/4 resist to fire and a 1/4 resist for Water. Plus Ice, which Dragon Is normally weak to is resisted by Water so you just end up taking Neutral Damage. Although It isn't the most Common type or best type combination out there, Water Dragon is still a solid defensive type. (A well known Water-Dragon type is Dracovish.)

Now lets look at some that Compliment each other HORRIBLY

Grass-Dark has 7 weaknesses, Including a 4x Weakness to bug. Offensively it is a little bit better, But Grass and Dark are not really the best offensive types either. You usually will have to blow your Tera to get Rid of many of your weaknesses. Also even though Grass-Dark is actually a fairly common type combination, Itis given to bad defensive Pokemon like Wo-Chien and Brute Bonnet who really want to be Supporters and Sweepers.

Finally in my opinion the type combination that is the WORST in my opinion (Besides Ice-Bug thats obvious), Is Grass-Ice, While being just OK offensively (Ok is a little too nice of a word for it but whatever) It has a 4x Weakness to Fire, 4x Weakness to Rock, 2x Bug weakness, 2x Flying weakness, 2x Psychic weakness, Only two resistances, Offensively it can hit Water, Deals 4x damage to ground but that is mainly it, A very trash type that makes Abomasnow an Abominatiosnow heh heh! get it? get it? no? ok.. :(

Anyways Have a wonderful day y'all feel free to post more in the comments!

Actually, Electric/Flying has two weaknesses: Ice and Rock

    Well, I'll add a few:

(y)Grass/Rock. Rock has an advantage against the five types that Grass is weak against, and Grass counters three of the five types that threaten Rock. Individually two of the worst types defensively, but they complement each other surprisingly well.
(y)Normal/Ghost. A Normal type immune to Fighting, and a Ghost immune to Ghost. Two weaknesses turned into immunities.
(y)Steel/Fairy. Nullifies both Fairy's weaknesses, nullifies Steel's weakness to Fighting. Only two 2x weaknesses vs. nine resistances and two immunities.

(n)Grass/Bug. Two 4x weaknesses, with several types they both have trouble dealing with (Fire, Flying, Steel, Poison). They have very little to complement each other.
(n)Psychic/Ghost: Both good against Fighting, both suffer against Ghost, and both bad against Dark in every way. They don't complement each other well, having advantages and disadvantages against similar types.
(n)Bug/Flying: Bug resists Grass, Fighting, and Ground, two of which Flying also resists, and one it's already immune to. They have nothing to cover each other and are a pretty bad combo, especially against Rock.

Thank you for the correction, and that's an Amazing List!

    Not to forget the following:

    Grass/Psychic
    Dark/Rock
    Bug/Fighting

All these are existing, and are terrible.

And for some more goods, there are:

    Dark/Poison

Steel/Fire (because of many double resistances)

    Steel/Dragon

Dark/Ghost (seriously; you didn't considered the typing of your favorite Pokémon!? )
    😃 😁

Normal pairs very well with anything that resists Fighting type moves. You get neutral damage from Fighting type attacks and get a free Ghost immunity slapped on. Aside from Normal/Ghost which was already mentioned that would be Normal/Flying, Normal/Psychic & Normal/Fairy... oh and Normal/Poison.
Normal/Psychic probably benefits the most of those as one of Psychic's weaknesses gets turned into an immunity.
There's also Normal/Bug, we don't have one yet.

After the disaster that was Spidops, uh Im not sure we will have a Normal/Bug type soon. Plus, Normal wouldn't even help Bug defensively or Offensively at all besides an Immunity to Ghost ig?

Bug still helps Normal lose it's Fighting weakness, just like the others listed, which is why I mentioned it.

Not sure why Spidops would be a Normal/Bug type. Tarountula does like like it could be one, but Spidops based on how it looks and acts ingame, as well as it's dex entries imo it should have been Bug/Dark if anything. Design-wise it looks more Bug/Dark than Lokix does.

    anyway back on topic...

Fire/Water has three weaknesses... and can super effectively STAB hit two of those, leaving only Electric as a problem for it. It's also got like 5 resistances.
