The Prizes will be grand, the competetion will be hard, and the battles will be intense!

The tornument will be 2v2 double cup no pokemon higher than level 50

Here is the current metaggame/most commonly used pokemon
It is very different from the wi fi standard metagame. Remember it is 4v4 double cup 50 and under

The Most common team consists of

    Dusknoir,Metagross,Snorlax,Bronzong

This team is hard to beat without an infernape/weavile. And it appears everywhere. The metagame has gotten REALLY centralized amongsts these pokemon. However, this means your opponent is predictable.

Where's MA? Lol sorry don't know state/country initials well

He might be able to make it to the New York showdown, it is across the U.S btw. PS the finals are in ST. Louis which is payed

NY is still a bit of a haul for MA. Even though it's right next to us, it's still a good drive.

Well, at least your in the U.S, I am currently out of the country, but I'm from N.J and it won't be any problem for me if Im there for the spring.

Also, the metagame for this tornument will be posted.

It's going on in Europe :D

Can you PLEASE read it before commenting.

THE FINALS, Repeat FINALS. Are in June/August, The QUALIFIERS are in Spring!

You can't blame him for not understanding, your wording is pretty vague.

Haha, so your insulting pokemon.com, because I copy pasted all of the information right above the word "Updated" from the site. But Ill try to make it more clear

I actually wasn't insulting anything, I was just pointing something out.

I was a monster at 4v4 doubles in ADV. There were a lot of changes since then in DP, and I'd have to brush up to get up to speed with today's double metagame, especially considering Shoddy doesn't support it (Yes, I know about Netbattle supremacy). However, I don't have the will power to cross more than one state border to go to a pokemon tourney, no matter how official it is.

Hey well hope it goes to your state I guess. I found a YTber who uploads videos of the tornument that's going on in Japan right now

    youtube.com/user/SeadraDS

    check him out

Just thinking out loud here, but how well would this duo work?

Zapdos @ Bold or something like that
    Leftovers
HP Ice (people on Smogon have this)
    Discharge
    Substitute
    Roost
(Questionable moveset off the top of my head)

    and

    Electivire @ Mild
    Life Orb
    Thunderbolt
    Ice Punch
    Earthquake
(Fourth move I haven't figured out, perhaps Flamethrower?)

This combo could work surprisingly well in theory, but we all know theory doesn't necessarily translate to paper. The idea is to start out Zapdos and something like Garchomp, Gliscor, or Swampert (sturdy EQ user). Hammer away with Discharge and paralyze whatever the opponent has on the field while the EQ user is immune to the effects. If something comes in that can damage the EQ user, use Discharge and switch to Electivire on the same turn. Discharge will put a hole in the enemies and possibly paralyze them, while Electivire Motor Drive is activated, he can outspeed and hit everything hard, allowing him to sweep away. I suppose the last team slot would go to some wallbreaker.

I do like that idea, I must say. However, with the prevalence of Trick Room in doubles, it could go awry. Probably best to have a Relaxed Mixpert (probably would work best if he had Protect) and something like Machamp in the wings so you can keep attacking without always going last.

This combo, I considered using it once. Not good, gets screwed over by ground types even with ice punch. No hope againts swampert, and Dugtrio owns your electivire in a snap(even though its not that common) I don't suggest using this TBH

Dugtrio isn't used in doubles pretty much at all. I find that statement rather uninformed. Considering the only way for Dugtrio to cause huge amounts of damage is Earthquake, and its way too fragile and screwed over by TR, Trio usage would be pretty freaking low. It's theorymon (sort of), and flawed theorymon at that.

Hippowdon does exist though, and he probably does wall E-vire. The idea isn't to start with Zapdos and E-vire, but something like Zapdos and Swampert, and switch Swampert while Discharging at the same turn when the time is right.

Well that strategy can work if you can actually get your hands on a legit level 50 or under HP Ice 70 Zapdos.
